that is not "fine." the Left choose to ignore reality and see a happy little tree illusory version of reality. that is why the Left keep losing elections.
undecided voters dont care about a 2 year old funny meme gag video. they care about 100+ days of nightly riots in dozens of cities. they care about police officers being shot by assassins and ordinary home owners being assaulted by mobs with impunity. they care about sky rocketing homeless, murders, burglaries and robberies. they care about millions of small businesses being permanently closed and tens of millions of unemployed.
just like in 2016, the Left drank its own kool-aid and believed in its own filter bubble propaganda and got blind sided by the freight train of Reality.
Trump will win again, and the Left will be shocked and cry again because they walled themselves off from the real world.
it would be a national security catastrophe if it leaked that NSA was bulk decrypting all TLS/SSL traffic Internet-wide, by using a giant rainbow table of prime pair products for instant decryption without factoring, which was first proposed by Rabin back in 1997 at a NIST working group for establishing crypto standards.
then NSA would lose the biggest SIGINT advantage since ENIGMA back in WW2.
so instead, DEA is tasked with finding the dummies who post photos of their hands or bookshelves or who made n00b opsec mistakes like re-using handles or email accounts that connect to their real names. then DEA applies Parallel Construction to fabricate an investigative evidence chain to present to the Court. the Court never needs to know the truth.
by the way, i personally do believe NSA is doing this, and all of Tor is as good as plain text to Ft Meade, because Rabin's idea really would scale with today's computing and storage capacities, and because that is exactly what i would do too.
just what do you think Bluffdale is really for?
Trust, but verify.
of Free Speech is arbitrarily granted, then it's not free speech, and that violates Prior Restraint, at least, if the Courts are not also arbitrarily deciding who's free speech deserves to be protected.
zero. no, wait, one 71 year old guy who evaded taxes by naming his 93 year old mother as the owner of his offshore shell companies did get indicted by DOJ for tax evasion on an amount of income less than $5 million.
i have zero faith in The Powers That Be in our legal system to ever systematically hunt down and crush the multi-trillion dollar shadow economy. DOJ are as good as being the protectors of the Int'l Financial Mafia Syndicates. sadly, i used to hope more vigilante hackers like Phineas Phisher breaching and leaking and doxxing these Shadow Economy overloards would solve the problem. In many ways, hacking made it worse because now the Shadow Economy is spending money to better conceal itself and to embed itself into the crevices of the legit economy to become more untouchable.
i am especially skeptical of ICIJ because they are funded by George Soros' Open Society, which means maybe Soros is paying ICIJ to cover things up and stall for time and provide a soft landing to Int'l Financial criminals.
Since 2013, I have come to view Assange and Snowden and future leakers and whistleblowers as necessary steps of the journey, but not the destination.
the destination is to create some contrived legal case that perfectly triggers multiple legal conditions which unlocks the door to be able to directly and openly challenge the espionage act in court. the US Intelligence Community have always gone to extraordinary contortions to prevent the Espionage Act itself from being invoked against the Press which could make it possible to challenge it. Even in Elsberg's case, his charges were dropped before SCOTUS could decide whether the Espionage Act applied to the Press and the Public Interest.
i think one reason why DOJ has been so rabid and vicious against Assange is because he is not a US Citizen, so they don't have to give him as much Freedom of Speech as they would an American.
i dont feel optimistic about Assange's case. if it was going to turn out good, that would have happened years ago.
i can only hope the spiritual successor to Wikileaks is led by an American who is wickedly clever enough to leak the right kind of top secrets that are scandalously in the Public Interest and thereby force a head on collision between SCOTUS, the Espionage Act and the First Amendment.
perhaps when i try to apply to a FedGov job, some automated sytem for scoring Inside Threats uses that Watchlist, and determines i am a security threat, and i am denied the job.
perhaps that automated scoring system is sold to the private sector, and then i am also denied jobs and bank loans and housing and travel when the system rejects me for unspecified reasons, since the existence of the secret Watchlist will never be known outside of FedGov.
through the existence of numerous forms of mass surveillance exposed by Wikileaks, we know the machinery of an automated social credit system has already been built. it's operational. the only question is how far along are they in putting it to use to truly turn us into a superficially happier nation sized prison camp like North Korea.
start here on page 19 of Chomsky's book he wrote in 1979.
https://libcom.org/history/chomsky-pol-pots-genocidal-regime...
Chomsky was dead wrong about his heirarchy of languages and he set back computing by 50 years. He has also been wrong about geopolitics, since he ends up supporting the very Western Imperialism that he rails against.
America is a Representative Democracy. we vote, but we are powerless to change what our Representatives do on our behalf.
by the way, this is really where the root idea of a "Deep State" existing comes from. We vote for Obama to close Gitmo, then he doesn't do it and we never know why. We never voted for illegal NSA domestic mass surveillance, yet here we are and it's normalized. We never voted for CIA renditions, black sites, torture and political assassinations, yet here we are. We never voted for the Federal Reserve to give trillions of dollars to the richest megabillionaires to park that wealth in real estate and price ordinary people out of affordable housing, yet here we are.
it's no longer a crazy conspiracy theory to look at the catastrophic effects of FedGov and how nothing ever improves and conclude the reason is because the govt we think we have is not really in control, but rather a secret State-Within-a-State is in control. a Shadow Govt, a permanent class of faceless bureaucrats wearing dark suits who operate the machinery of Govt and who flaunt the efforts of our elected Representatives and who ignore the will of the voters.
if there ever was an entity that called for extravagent levels of hyperviolence unseen in history to overthrow it, the Deep State is that entity.
i hope the fact of that leaks onto Wikileaks. then Assange walks for the same reason Ellsberg walked. FBI used illegal tactics to persecute Ellsberg before his trial, which the govt was too embarassed about revealing to continue his prosecution.
everyone else should not have the right to free speech, and if they do speak freely, then they are Fascists who deserve to be arrested, tried, convicted and shot.
sadly, while this sounds like hyperbole or sarcasm, this is exactly what a large percentage of people really do believe.
you can't have free speech when a near majority wants to abolish it. therefore, ot's already too late.
Free Speech RIP
it's like the line from the old RAW book: "there is no governor anywhere."
twitter/FB/etc serve as infomation sinkholes. sure, you may get a million likes and RT'd by influencers such as Kanye, but after a few days, whatever you wrote is forgotten and no longer discoverable. then it's as if you never wrote it at all, because nobody else will ever find it.
i miss the old web. i miss web rings. i miss just casually surfing from link to link and stumbling across serendipitous information dense and concisely written essays about some thing out there in the world that taught me valuable knowledge.
social media must die. the old web must return.
and yes, Yandex has an API for everything. You don't need language bindings as long as your language speaks HTTPS.
FBI cant issue an NSL to read every email you sent or received to construct your patterns of life to more easily parellel construct you or blackmail/coerce you into compliance.
even NSA has to tread lightly, and cant just casually feed your emails into XKEYSCORE, because if they get caught, then Yandex with the assistance of FSB will kick out NSA and/or hack back or retaliate with active measures. so NSA would only risk blowing their Yandex collection for very high National Priority targets. not you.
in a sense, the smartest surveillance evasion tactic is to hide in the fog of cyber war between the Nation States. if you're not Baghdadi or Carter Page, you wont have to worry as much.
plus, Yandex mail is better than gmail. Yandex is what gmail was 10 years ago--simple UI, no bloat, no ads, no spam, no BS. Yandex has a mobile email app too. better, you can host your private DNS on Yandex, then use Yandex for your private domain's emails.
and unlike Google, who is probably selling your info about you from your emails to an ecosystems of ad spammers and "database of ruin" analytics spy companies, Yandex is not. thanks to US sanctions on Russia, your data is effectively siloed off from the US market.
finally, consider the Shadowbroker hacker used Yandex to leak the stolen NSA EQGRP files. has the Shadowbroker been caught? nope. Yandex security looks better than anyone else's.
we live in interesting times, when Russia is now a safer place to store your data than the US. the world has gone mad.

But now that the Leftist media is putting Qanon on the front pages and in the opening monologues of their talk shows, it's causing the opposite unintended consequence: if Qanon was so fake, then why are famous journalists and billion dollar media conglomerates talking about Qanon as if it is real? Therefore, it must be real.
The media always needs a boogeyman. And if no boogeyman exists, then the media will fabricate it. In 2016, it was the AltRight, which didnt really exist in a big way in meatspace. Now in 2020 the new Boogeyman is Qanon, which also doesnt exist in a large physical sense outside of obscure forums and memes. I really hate how the media does this. It's a form of bullying, to pick a fringe group that nobody takes seriously and elevate them to the next National Enemy. It's also stupid, because instead of the media focusing on real issues, like oh say COVID or the economic collapse or civil unrest in 100's of cities, naw, the media chooses to focus on the lamest most powerless and kooky group of conspiracy theorists.
thanks a lot media. no wonder everyone calls them the Fake News now.
I guess this is the media's version of Trust the Plan.

the math/physics behind how this works is fascinating, however, NLJDs are expensive, slow and require specialized electronics skills that the average person doesnt have. NLJD is what Military/Intelligence use to sweep a room for bugs.
but at end of the day, it's an arms race where the only way to win is not to play. if it became easy to detect circuits hidden in the walls or in household objects, they can just escalate to tactics like when the KGB used special screws in the beams of the US embassy in Moscow to record ambient audio of the keys pressed on teletypes to recover the messages. then there's the viral video from a few year back demonstrating recovering audio inside a room with a camera aimed through a glass window pane at a foil bag of chips. the same techniques that recover audio also work for video. it's just a signal to reconstruct.
i look forward to 2035 and warming myself up by burning trash bags full of trumpbux in an oil drum underneath an empty freeway overpass.
Aaron Shwartz would be disgusted by what Reddit has become.
instead of censorship, the correct approach would be to refute Binney and Forensicator's claims with counter evidence. file time stamps can be trivially modified to whatever you want and so cannot be trusted. as we saw from the CIA Vault7 leaks on Wikileaks, CIA had dozens and dozens of programs for forging metadata in files to frame foreign govts with attribution, which is one of the biggest reasons why the whole narrative that Russia hacked the DNC is on shaky ground.
in the Snowden leaks, there was a GCHQ document about their policies for targetting US Persons using data shared with them from NSA. GCHQ is not allowed to indiscriminantly spy on US Persons. the document, marked classified as STRAP1, clearly orders GCHQ to apply US laws when targetting US Persons. which means "reasonable, articulable suspicion" before firing up XKEYSCORE and searching for everything a US Person has done in their life.
sadly, the reverse is not the same, since the UK has very weak privacy laws compared to the US. NSA can search for anything about any UK citizen without needing some form of probable cause. the Official Secrets Act and RIPA makes the UK into a quasi-dictatorship IMHO, which explains why we see the native population of the UK being so heavily subjugated by their Lords and Royals.
part of the SIGINT sharing agreement between NSA and GCHQ is that data will only be shared as long as these rules are enforced. so the myth that the FVEYS is a backdoor to circumvent the law and allow foreign intel to mutually spy on each other's domestic populations is a myth.
however, this assumes the FVEYS actually obey the rules in this document. how would we know if they dont? impossible for us uncleared civilians. for all we know, there are more layers of secret laws that allow FVEYS to ignore any and all of the checks and balances intended to limit their abuse of the SIGINT system.
that's the problem with secret laws. once you have them, nobody can trust anything about your entire legal system and you become a tyranny.
https://www.nsa.gov/news-features/declassified-documents/uku...
it has bothered me deeply that the UKUSA agreement itself was only declassified in 2013, most likely because of Snowden. keeping the existence of the FVEYS secret for 69 years does seem to me like an attempt to cover up treason.
pre-Snowden, when we talked about a Deep State existing at all, and when we quoted Rockefeller saying the world will be run by a supra-international clique of wealthy and politically powerful elites who transcend nations--the "Globalists", we were mocked as tinfoil hat wearing Conspiracy Theorists.
"Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow." -- K, Men In Black
that leaves only one option.
acceleration.
i have slowly become convinced that the only solution to mass surveillance is to expand it as fast and as large as possible, in order to trigger a "Sum of All Fears" scale event, a spying scandal that eclipses all prior scandals, and which outrages hundreds of millions of people like never before. faith in govt and Democracy itself will be shaken and may not survive. that is merely the cost of restoring equillibrium and justice.
one of the questions is whether passwords sent across the network are considered metadata or content.
NSA legal says passwords are metadata. which means NSA can scan all traffic for passwords and steal them and no FISA warrant is needed, nor a subpoena.
of course NSA already has a dozen programs just for extracting passwords from UPSTREAM passive collection. and presumably this means everyone in the FVEYS gets access to everyone's passwords, since they pool their capabilities and collection.
whatever the Courts rule about local cops and passwords, it doesnt apply at the level of SIGINT collection, which enjoys its own separate and secret system of laws.
The Paranoid Style in American Politics 1964.
American politics has always been this way. It's simplistic to blame it all on Faux News, or the Civil War or a vague over generalized "racism." The paranoid style even predates the American Revolutionary War. You can draw a straight line from the anti-Mason and anti-Catholic populist movements from the 1800's to QAnon amd Antifa today. It's the exact same narrative, paranoid about vast and powerdul malevolent conspiracies being run by a cabal of the most powerful. The coup plotters names and methods of attack may change, but the structural narrative remains the same.
The Paranoid style it's in our blood, it's a unique trait that defines us as Americans. Therefore I don't knock it and I hope we never lose it.
https://m.startribune.com/mystery-surveillance-plane-that-ci...
https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2015/06/02/secret-aerial-fbi-...
since at least 2014, the FBI has a secret air force of over 100 planes that fly constant circles over the biggest US cities.
what do you think FBI is doing? joy riding?
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/03/new-foia-documents-con...
those FBI planes are equipped with DRTBOX's--cell site simulators and wifi interception sensors.
in the TAO ANT Catalogue leaked by Snowden, it shows NSA SECONDDATE is manufactured by Harris.
Harris also makes DRTBOX, and Stingray.
wanna bet FBI is using DRTBOX in exactly the same way NSA used it in Iraq? wanna bet NSA is actually helping FBI run this little domestic program?
why would NSA and FBI surveill all US cities from the sky? because you dont need a warrant or even a subpoena. "reading the air" is free--it's public space with no expectation of privacy. and radio signals you emit through your phone or wifi router are also public space.
but what is FBI and NSA's endgame to run a real-time monitoring program over US cities?
back in 2004-2008 in Iraq, the Pentagon deployed something called GORGON STARE. it stiched together the video feeds from all drones and jets and satellites into a composite video watching entire cities.
https://longreads.com/2019/06/21/nothing-kept-me-up-at-night...
Gorgon Stare has come home to roost.
would every teleconference video with Snowden also be banned?
Google is EVIL and this is all going to backfire in the most spectacular outcome of unintended consequences.
