It reminds me of the pod[1] (best picture I could find) that Jodie Foster used in the movie Contact. Well worth watching if you haven't already!

I read somewhere around 5000 metres, double that of Air France 447. So if that is indeed the wreckage, it will take a while to recover the black boxes.

Regarding AF447, small correction, the first major pieces of wreckage were found within 5 days[1]. The black boxes took around 2 years to recover.

With reference to the Green Card Lottery [1] "if you lose in the lottery, they'll refund the fees", there are no fees to enter the lottery, however if you win the lottery there are fees to start the interview and visa process.
Re:Let banks fail: Iceland’s plan looks to be working

It was slightly more complex than that. Icesave was registered under the "passport" scheme, which meant that technically savers would have had to claim the first EUR 20,000 from the Bank's host country (Iceland in this case), with any top-up remainder being covered by the FSCS (up to I think around GBP 50 or 60k as you mentioned). Savers were fortunate in that the UK government stepped in and guranteed everything up to the limit.
(I too had an Icesave account at the time, it was a fearful couple weeks)
What's also important to remember is that only retail investors were bailed out. Council's and the like lost everything.

Over the last few Google search algorithm updates, exact match domains (EMD's) were devalued. This could be one of the reasons why you are not ranking as highly for the term "pizza codes" while the previous domain was.

If you're using Chrome there is a great addon called Youtube Options which achieves something similar to what Youtube Feathers is trying to do (it has video sizing options too!)

I certainly avoid the US for any connecting flights to Central and South America (I live in Europe). I've also been avoiding vacationing in the US since I experienced some rather rude TSA agents at Miami International a few years ago, although to be fair I have seen some of the US and wanted to expand my horizons.

There may be some parallels between this and the crash which happened over London in 1999, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Cargo_Flight_8509

I'm also partial to Socialite JS [0] - it provides a similar mechanism, the one I use is the hover option, this negates the need for clicking which I think would confuse some users.
