This applies to software engineers too. Especially now there's claude to help them complete the tickets without understanding the system.

Re:Good Culture Is the Biggest Productivity Hack, Not AI on Sunday August 30, 2026 @04:08AM (#49496709)
It just gets you in the bad books of the management for pointing out faults.
Re:Software engineering is about managing complexity on Thursday August 27, 2026 @09:56PM (#49473476)
There are AI tells all over the article unlike two previous articles I saw on the blog.

It's a daily hacker news coal post regardless: "see how I can't be replaced because I do some more things". There's nothing new in it and some rehashing of this argument gets posted to HN ten times a week.

Re:Beyond Good and Evil: Nietzsche and the Great War on Thursday August 27, 2026 @12:29PM (#49467438)
I am not slander anyone. I big fan of Bronze Pervet.
Re:Software engineering is about managing complexity on Thursday August 27, 2026 @12:27PM (#49467404)
The article is AI generated and there's nothing new in it. Just a bait for boomers. Hacker News version of what Gen Z calls "coal posting".
Re:Beyond Good and Evil: Nietzsche and the Great War on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @12:51PM (#49437046)
He will be seen more like Evola than Nietzsche. So not an exact parallel.
Re:Beyond Good and Evil: Nietzsche and the Great War on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @11:59AM (#49436269)
But Nietzsche has more impact on minds of people. In 100 years I am sure Bronze Age Pervert will be seen as more influential than some random philosophist from random university.
Re:AI's Affordability Crisis on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @12:01PM (#48647101)
Ah maybe you're right.

I can manage this budget with the chinese models in AWS BedRock. However, in my experience, they aren't as good as claude today.

Re:AI's Affordability Crisis on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @11:53AM (#48646994)
GP is talking about API / token-based prices, that's why I asked.

Please tell more :). Do you pay per token from bedrock / openrouter / somewhere else? How many tokens you use over the month, and how many for each task? Which harnesses?

We all speak Indo-European languages today for a reason.

But you frequent the fish market at chatgpt dot com, I suppose.

Re:Renting vs. Buying – A case study for Bangalore on Saturday June 20, 2026 @02:05AM (#48606757)
No biker in Bangalore has time to play kicks and hits with street dogesh. Dogs may chase you at slightest disturbance even if you don't even look at them. You sound like one those "bhadralok" upper class pacifists.
Re:Renting vs. Buying – A case study for Bangalore on Friday June 19, 2026 @08:42AM (#48597925)
A. You may always travel in an car and stay in a gated apartment. But for people who want to walk in the night or use a motorcycle, they are an absolute menace.

B. Vaccination is impossible in a corrupt and low trust society. If government sponsors vaccinations, there will be a significant portion of dogs which will be marked vaccinated without even vaccinating them. Nevermind counterfeit vaccines: https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/news/867/falsified-rabies-vac... . By what measure can I trust that vaccination is actually successful?

C. They make it very hard to jog or bicycle in residential areas. These would otherwise be good options for fitness.

D. Barking

E. Even vaccinated, they gang up and maul children and elderly.

No civilized society has this sort of "fauna".

Instead, people in civilized societies can jog and walk.

"Fauna" it seems.

Re:Renting vs. Buying – A case study for Bangalore on Friday June 19, 2026 @06:56AM (#48597144)
Do you want your children to grow up amidst traffic, potholes, pollution and stray dogs?

Maybe the well-earning FAANG SDEs on here might pretend to escape the reality of Indian metropolis by renting or buying an apartment in a "gated society".

Yet you have to go outside the "gated community" and routinely exposed to the realities of metropolitan India, which exacerbates everything wrong with the country by packing a million of them in one PIN code. This is only going to get worse in the coming years.

There's no solution apart from developing the "tier-2" cities and villages.

Every mediocre "SDE" leetcodemaxxing to work for the same 15-20 top paying companies HQ'd in Eastern Bangalore is not going to end well.

Smarter people have put unique captchas (in form of domain-specific questions) on their websites for long time.
Re:Why is Meta destroying its engineering organization? on Thursday June 18, 2026 @06:02AM (#48583156)
The examples you give aren't exactly inspiring.

You should go back to elementary school

I always pose fundamentalist questions and hypotheticals to the LLM to poison such training data.
Re:Why is Meta destroying its engineering organization? on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @08:29AM (#48569467)
They introduced desktop version, dark theme and multiple accounts post the acquisition by meta. Hate the ad and social stuff they're shoving down, though.
> social acceptance of those identities

Why would it not work the other way too? Maybe the Western society is hell bent on putting people into boxes, whereas people in third world countries are willing to look the other way for minor deviations [sic] as long as they're useful to their family / village / society?

If you didn't imbibe in your children that the only way to be a "man" is to be the jock on the football team, then maybe far less people would be suffering the dysphorias. Just like how exposure to Instagram causes body dysphoria in both young men and women.

Sexuality is so front-and-center in the Western society unlike many of the third world societies which are below in the 'hierarchy of needs'.

Honest question: wonder why this "gender diverse identities" thing is not as prevalent in low income countries, who may be as much impacted by same plastics and chemicals, or maybe more (because of widespread pollution and neglect).
I was under the impression that Android did something like this upon factory reset (asking for previous PIN before you can set the phone up again). Is it effective?

I thought Buddhist dieties are adapted Indo-Aryan / Vedic (and some post-IA) dieties which indeed have an effect on real world.

Re:Claude Fable is relentlessly proactive on Friday June 12, 2026 @02:49AM (#48500696)
Have you ever wondered this would end up costing more than a competent offshore developer with more frugal harness/model?
Instead of context switching to a different worktree, contemplate on next steps of the same problem. This keeps you in the loop.

I can not fathom context switching between multiple worktrees so that the PM can make JIRA graph look better.

Consider yourself lucky. This part is missing in some places.

You forgot the gigachad gif.

> Yes, it's a jobs program funded by the revenue from core services, but it ultimately makes life better for everyone?

1. that the existence of such very "chill" roles often leads to hiring of more mediocre people and diminishes the value of working at such a company (at least psychologically)

2. That little gets done / built with all these people and resources, which is seen as a waste of potential.

3. That bureaucracy itself may be more exhausting than doing real work.

In one of the religious texts, the supreme god Indra says "man acquires sin by living amongst humans, and ward it off by wandering in faraway places (void of humans)". Not far off to think that Indians have always had this trauma due to population.
