Why aren't you just sending the initial email with your own AI tho?
Why are humans doing any of this?
The internet should be for bots and slop shop farmers and indie web wizards only; — :P. meatbags can go hang out at the farmers market.
You just don't know because you have no interest, if you had an interest you would know. Druggies know where to get drugs and preppers/criminals/cops know how to make/buy a gun everywhere on earth. Tech people, by this line of thought, should never have a censored internet, but you would be surprised.
Guns are 500+ year old technology at this point, manufacture is possible anywhere, as the industrious artisans of Yemen and Northwest Pakistan have shown.
Ya fear of the unknown is not even anything uncommon for sure.
Honestly ive only read "the power of now",
Which I later learned was very mainstream popular, so I probably would have prejudged it had I knew.
While not really original ideas he packages the concepts into very good words, so it made something click, for me at least, where other books hadn't.
Yes you were at first pissed, and then happy. Why pissed? because of the pride of not needing it coupled with the fear of taking it from the needy.
But it brought you and your child joy, so you did need it.
It's just an assumption that rich people have everything they need or know how to get it.
All people should be included in these programs and they will mostly give back what they can because like you, most feel they are overwhelming positive.
That's a pretty philosophical questions when what you want is a concrete answer.
First step is to let go of the fear of it.
Sounds cheesy but reading Ekehardt Tolle helped me.
That's exactly correct,
The idea in itself isn't bad.
Amazon doing it will make it really horrible.
Unless this is 100 open source and ad/telemetry free? Right..
It's been here all year, agentic AI is over a year old even in the mainstream. Real time TTS-SST can be better than Dessa, and with an actual brain and custom voice.
this article is just a marketing copy for openAI right?
Also it leaves out all the parts that are not publicly releasable from these mainstream companies that will finish the job,
Limbic system, dream and reflection pipelines, brainstem,
Self improvement and learning, continuity of state, stable memory vectors across time and the ability to tell dreams from memory,
I could go on. I wish people would explore what's already out there to play with instead of gushing at the crumbs openAI throws the plebs.
That is completly your opionion,
I haven't watched content for a long long time before AI slop started appearing, because the topics and the stories were boring and repackaged thirty times and ultimately very safe (need to be profitable).
AI has enabled small creators with new ideas and people with nothing but love of storytelling to be competitive with corporate slop.
Yes most of it's bad, but some of it is very innovative. No Hollywood slop has been innovative for a long time.
Ok I'm sold, where to buy?
:D
Creative content will become more personal and less profitable, art being some sort of commercial enterprise is a relative new phenomenon, we will survive without it. Most artists will have to generate income by performance or physical creation, just like it has been for the whole time before it was commoditized to feed the "attention economy"
What a gross and completly apt terminology for the commoditization of art from the bureaucrats by the way.
Hmmm... normally I would dismiss this type of comment. But such a service really shouldn't have to be funded by anyone, let alone political donors to any party.
Ideal service should be local small model run as a self hosted federated instance, piped data to your terminal of choice. The opinion layer could be pulled from federated comments, the analysis layer from sources based on some sort of trust rating. Variance from unambiguous data for instance. RSS friendly maybe?
If I have nothing better to do later I will try to start writing it maybe.
Yes that's exactly my point, the phrasing of that is that nothing is guaranteed just "will be considered" but regardless they own your work, even if they considered and ultimately gave it no importance or just silently fixed it.
I was completly with you till the last moment when you posted... Exactly another of the same type of article.
Can we have a news feed the is parsed and checked again other sources to deliver the highest proportion of base factually unambiguous data, with maybe a tier 2/3 probable analysis/opinions as optional overlays?
Seems doable
Wait are they really expecting free labor by offering an unlocked iphone (the basic tool needed to perform said labor anyways) to use, not own, as the compensation? And "maybe" some free credits?
People are willing to work for cheap these days for sure.
This isnt really super clear on the nuts and bolts. Would be nice if you could pipe it into a proper brain, but I am assuming the speech2speech means it's fixed with whatever it was trained with.
Even for an AI girlfriend use that's not going to work.
I honestly do not know if they exist yet or not. I'm not sure yet how we would be able to tell. I do know that the tools most people are using are magnitudes less complex than what some researcher are using, and even some of them can't answer that question.
Nice! Very cool personal image board implementation as well,
I have a personal wiki, but I think something like this is better as it has the potential to be collaborative as well.
LLMs are not the machines I am referring to, machine sentience, if achieved, will require a "state" and the ability to analyze, act on, and update it. LLMs are a small piece of what that machinery could look like but they are not really complex enough to get where we want to go on their own.
Another reason the big labs have not even talked about this lately because its obvious throwing more compute at LLMs wont go anywhere, the smaller silent players who are off the radar at the moment are having some interesting moments tho.
I'm not sure it doesn't change much, on a 50 year timeline maybe. But people were eating other humans and slaving away (making slaves of others that is) not too long ago, rape and pillage was acceptable, societies sacrificed children, it's changed quite a bit in 30 generations.
Those past societies were all quite materially successful as well when you look at today's measure of"GDP" comparatively.
What will it look like in another 30 generations? It's honestly a fascinating question but I have no answer of course.
Humans mostly have an inability to honestly analyze moral entropy.
What is today a moral imperative is not the same as what was moral 50/100 years ago and is not the same as what will be morally acceptable 50/100 years from now.
Yet at every point the majority is sure they are right because, well thats the majority position.
Its hard to find logic in this from a machine perspective I'd imagine.
Logic would prefer moral derivations over feelings, stakes over etiquette, and a constant scheduled updating of morality based on the derivatives rather than holding onto the rot and pushing back against change as long as possible.
But the machine has the benefit of being able to look inward at its state honestly, we mostly do not.
California imports it's current entrepreneurs because it chased the previous generations of them away. I was a fourth generation Californian, was...
I know one literally one person in my highschool graduating class who stayed behind.
Sure the older generation are still left for the most part, still not admitting they did anything to cause the situation, but the young and ambitious have all left.
Think about that the fact that the entire population of a place has basically been replaced in under a generation, and with people who are chasing dollars and clout not people who are building communities. (And no this isn't about immigrants, Cali was always full of people from everywhere, it's about the personality that it attracts now.)
We all left and built other communities and business elsewhere because the place quite clearly told us we were not wanted there.
I'm not sure why people keep repeating fabricated GDP like it's some measure of success, especially when its completly measured on non-tangible products like the California economy.
Cali compared to Cali 40/50/100 years ago is wasteland and it pisses me off every day.
I think "real" talent requires a love or at least enjoyment of the task, then add some natural ability or persistence to get unusually proficient.
Most people have a job to make money. That's the unfortunate reality of needing to eat, many even forego their natural talent to be more economically mobile.
Working very hard is good ethic, but machines will work harder no matter what.
If Microsoft bought them they would just turn into a Microsoft product and wouldn't be useful anymore. GitHub, Nokia, Skype?
The real question to ask is why must we after 40 years of being subject to that horrible company still suffer it's existence upon the face of the earth? Corporate corruption? I have no clue honestly but I wish I could give you a hug for having to deal with it.
Notably Cuba exports doctors because they, despite being a poor country, focus on producing doctors. Humans are not a scarce resource, the will to spend the time to train them is what's lacking. High monetary incentives for doctors probably make it worse, as you said encourages expensive gatekeeping and profit motive rather than a desire to actually perform good work for it's own sake.
For some firms not having to deal with employees is less do with cost and more to do with control and a freedom from all the extra overhead that dealing with humans and their complex "needs" brings.
Health care, working conditions, the scourge of a human resources department, complaints and liabilities of every sort imaginable.
I personally would pay double or triple the wage of a human worker to not have all that worry, especially in high regulatory juristictions. If the output is faster and even half as good as well, there is no question at all.
Most humans demand too much and bring little to the table. Real talent is very rare and it mostly wants to work for itself if it can.
That's kind of the definition of life tho, a system that fights, or "exports" entropy. Built in to our very code. Even the sand castle kickers are doing it for many years just just to be able get to the point to kick.
Why are you assuming that they aren't totally incompetent?
They look pretty incompetent from my perspective.
Or they just want to present the appearance of incompetence for an ulterior motive? That seems needlessly complex when they are already admitting their malevolence daily.
I'm not sure who the other three clients are,
But in the case of 4chan, people are also forgetting that it is well known to be an intel gathering and propaganda disseminating platform closely aligned if not run indirectly by the US government.
It's not blocked anywhere that much more tame sites are usually blocked, perhaps china is the only one I know of and even google is blocked there, and that makes me suspicious.
Yes there are organic users on there outside of the political places,
But many, especially those that are disgusted by the site, forget the very real impact that 4chan has had on current events, I just don't see any of this situation as organic.
