News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

jtdev

Another symptom of the decline of our formerly high-trust society.

You can’t have public bathrooms in a society filled with criminals and homeless drug addicts.

It's a Mossad/CIA sponsored spyware agent.
Absolute corruption.
Re:The age of Scrum is over on Friday May 27, 2022 @04:04PM (#31534252)
Most organizations that I've worked with as a consultant think Jira = Agile/Scrum and fail to do even the most basic actual Agile/Scrum things like proper story writing, filling a product owner role with someone who has even a remote idea of the product owner's responsibility, etc., etc.
Where I live, fruit and vegetable farmers are routinely required to discard significant portions of the harvest per USDA mandates… maybe we could find some middle ground between poisoning people for obscene harvests and allowing pests to decimate crops?
Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @08:28AM (#29661604)
Yes, it’s one reason that I let my Amazon Prime membership lapse and rarely purchase anything from Amazon now.
Yah, it’s the consumers responsibility to chase around a multi billion dollar, multi national corporations QC problems…
Good luck growing legumes on the acreage currently used for beef production… you can hardly walk much less tractor incredible expanses of this land. Beef cattle very efficiently convert the grasses on these lands into healthy, nutritious food for humans.

It’s terrifying to realize how many of the people trying to influence food production have little if any practical knowledge of how farming actually works. People are going to starve to death en mass if your ilk have your way.

You clearly know very little about agriculture. Beef cattle actually graze many hundreds of thousands of acres of land that could not realistically be converted to legume production.
Uhhhh… India doesn’t have a great track record on executing these types of projects.

In the end, they still get the data, just in a much less desirable way for both you and the customer.

Considering the demand for your content, why haven’t you created and provided an API? Maybe you could monetize?
Re:Fedora 35 on Tuesday November 02, 2021 @12:19PM (#29083408)
Serious question: why move to Fedora if you need all of this from Ubuntu? Why not just stay with Ubuntu?
Re:Reasons Truck Drivers Walk Out the Door [video] on Friday October 29, 2021 @09:58AM (#29038435)
That’s because AI is hyped up bullshit…
Re:Reasons Truck Drivers Walk Out the Door [video] on Friday October 29, 2021 @08:44AM (#29037743)
It’s symbolic of the utter lack of respect, appreciation, and understanding of importance we have for working class people. It’s quite disgusting, and I’m pleased to see people finally saying “enough!”.
Re:Where have all the insects gone? on Tuesday October 26, 2021 @02:00PM (#29003817)
Big chem selling pesticides like there’s no tomorrow.
Re:Colin Powell has died on Tuesday October 19, 2021 @10:56AM (#28918749)
They’ve been politicized and captured by industry to the point of being an actual caricature…
Re:Colin Powell has died on Monday October 18, 2021 @09:45AM (#28905368)
I don’t believe any-fucking-thing the CDC is saying rn about C19.
Re:I'm sorry on Thursday October 07, 2021 @09:27AM (#28785940)
Okay, _they_ also need to build good will with developers if they want developers to use their products and services.
Re:Singapore population sees biggest percentage drop since 1950 on Wednesday October 06, 2021 @10:13AM (#28773423)
Oh great, it seems that population growth globally is slowing due to low birth rates and aging populations. The population/climate bomb cultists like Bill Gates should be pleased by this… it’ll give earth and its parasitic inhabitants easily another decade or two of (admittedly miserable) existence :)

Kidding of course. I’ll be eating cheeseburgers and driving a V8 full sized pickup into oblivion (even if I have to become a cattle rancher to do so). No regrets, the world that the “Great Reset” is creating is not one worth living in.

Re:Statement from Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday October 05, 2021 @09:20PM (#28767995)
Nothing this “whistleblower” has said is revelatory… she’s stating things we already know. The question should be “why now?”.
Your perspective disregards the likelihood that this whistleblowers input will be used to censor political speech rather than actually protect children and teens online.
It's strange that the media is focused on the Putin/Russia story re: the Pandora papers rather than the fact that the papers reveal the United States has become a top destination for hiding assets by the worlds super wealthy and powerful. It's also revealed that many westerners, allies, celebrities, etc. are hiding cash. But of course, western media's takeaway is "PuTiN AnD RUssIA!"...
Re:It takes a PhD to develop that on Monday October 04, 2021 @07:50AM (#28745504)
Such an interesting case. We need to encourage respectfully disagreeable people like the developer who raised this issue. A less disagreeable person would have stopped pushing after receiving the GitHub feedback regarding how complex the problem was.
Re:Developers, your manager is likely clueless on Thursday September 30, 2021 @09:39AM (#28706164)
You're clearly not the manager that this article is referencing.
The tactics of one who's arguments crumble in the slightest glimmer of sunlight... I hope one day you can understand how hateful your positions are.
Antifa doesn't simply "oppose" those they disagree with.. they engage in actual violence. You've clearly adopted a cultist mindset...
That wouldn’t feed the narrative of conservative Christians being idiot rubes controlled by Russian disinformation and those on the left as being highly educated purveyors of truth.
Re:We deserve better than Confluence and Notion on Monday September 27, 2021 @11:09AM (#28671580)
Ask yourself if any of the things you mentioned actually result in a materially significant improvement in delivery of working software, in comparison to say... sticky notes and sharpies.
Re:We deserve better than Confluence and Notion on Monday September 27, 2021 @10:50AM (#28671322)
I'd argue that there's far too much documentation for documentation sake... nobody wants to spend valuable time updating a document that nobody looks at.
