Re:Google Downranks 65,000 Pirate Sites in Search Results on Saturday June 30, 2018 @10:33AM (#17430981)
If only they would downrank sites that exist purely to defame: ripoffreport, stdreport, blacklistreport, etc.
It’s a legal method of quoting terms of art.
> And was there a breach of a the Terms of Service by companies taking all this data and using it for non-academic purposes? Yes there was.

There's a legal concept of 'waiver' meaning that even if something is prohibited in a contract, but the parties don't enforce that part, then that part is later not enforceable. Facebook was fully aware of this behavior, chose not to enforce the ToS, and therefore it waived that clause. Therefore no breach.

This is fun to watch. The most evil company I can think of is being exposed for its core purpose. Are people going to realize what a monster Facebook is?
Who remembers how the Obama campaign's social media analytics and strategy were breathlessly praised?
Exactly this. This is not a one-off. This is exactly what Facebook exists to do.

"Social justice" is the opposite of justice.
Unions.

Ford.
Just stay in daylight saving time, don't go back.
The only redeeming quality of moving to Arizona has been the lack of daylight saving time.

I've learned through lots of experience that political ideals that are held for national issues go out the window when it comes to local issues. This goes for both sides of the political spectrum.
I used to subscribe to Green Chef, but stopped mostly due to the time it takes to make the meals. Usually it took twice as long as it said on the recipes.

We now subscribe to Freshly. Meals are pre-made and in 3 minutes they are heated up. Perfect!

I wouldn't think of someone as "horrible" for not caring what color other people's skin is. That's a testament to the world we're in. If you don't actively and consciously take skin color into consideration, you're a bad person!
No, not in the "pro-worker" world. Amazon will just continue "exploiting" workers and there will be no consequence. Customers will be completely happy with shitty service.

The article specifically states that his credibility regarding enrolling in a program was a material aspect of the case.
Re:GrubHub Drivers Ruled Contractors on Thursday February 08, 2018 @06:24PM (#16336487)
From the ruling by the court:

Other dishonest conduct during this lawsuit further supports the Court’s finding that Mr. Lawson intentionally manipulated the app to get paid for not working. During discovery he produced a resume that falsely represents that he attended a Loyola Marymount University Master of Fine Arts program from August 2012 to May 2015, and even lists a specific grade point average; however, Mr. Lawson was only enrolled in the program for one year and did not graduate. When confronted at trial with this misrepresentation, Mr. Lawson testified that he listed all three years because he was “still involved in various activities” and he felt “still part of [the Loyola Marymount] community.” (Dkt. No. 208 at 48:13-16.) This explanation is not credible.

Looks like he's also trying to sue Amazon for the same thing.

Re:Why We Terminated Daily Stormer on Wednesday August 16, 2017 @09:11PM (#15032853)
So cloudflare terminates the account of some pathetic racists, but happily continues to host Ripoff Report, a company whose basic business model is to defame people online and then extort them for money. You know, a site that actively ruins people lives, employment, etc. But a silly racist message board is what moves the CEO to take action.
Re:Cloudflare has dropped the Daily Stormer on Wednesday August 16, 2017 @04:17PM (#15030975)
I have no problem with this since they're a private company and they can do that with their own services. Dropping an easy target like some racist idiots is one thing... yet Cloudflare apparently has no problem hosting Ripoff Report, a company whose business model is entirely about defaming people online and then extorting them to remove the content. This shittiest of shitty companies that has real-world devastating consequences for people does a lot more damage than some clowns on a racist forum.
lol, today it's probably equivalent to a 4.2.

Weird, as a COO this doesn't accurately describe me or my peers in the slightest bit. Sounds like you had a bitter experience somewhere along the way with a bad team.
Maybe someone in the UK can answer this, but how on earth are fire sprinklers not required?
