That would require all individuals to have the disposable income to cover all their own medical costs. The further down the income ladder you go, the less an option it appears.

One of those books so many people reference without having read. It's almost weird that it's the WSJ that's referencing it.
Re:Ask HN: How to explain LulzSec in layman?

You should start with what they actually understand. Do they think LulzSec is a bunch of social parasites with too much time and tech knowledge? Build on and/or correct what they think.

Seems weird to only say it's an "improved experience" to no longer be able to write 2,001 characters. Can't remember many long comments on that site that have been worth it - they're usually bickering that wears thing - but still, that reads like calling a bug "a feature."

Given Steve Jobs's disdain for games, it'd be funny if he conquered the market. Mobile is certainly capturing the handheld and casual market. I do wonder if it'll ever do something that overtakes or renders obsolete the console market, though. Maybe if Apple TV opens some new doors and has ludicrous penetration.

It looks like a pretty clear case of semantic confusion. When the article named it, I just assumed that was the actual name of Orville's standard Gourmet popcorn. Both the real and fictional names are a mess of generic advertising words, neither particularly memorable or distinct unless you're keenly interested. Most people won't even look beyond the "Orville Redenbacher"on the title barring searching for a specific descriptor, like "Gourmet" or "Kettle Corn," because those are the only meaningful terms that will pop up on the box of a popcorn.

That's only half an opinion, though. He's arguing that the bestselling authors give self-published ones the room to charge more. In the "value" scape, he doesn't get to decide how much his book is worth, but wouldn't be able to charge 3.99 or whatever he wants if the norm was 0.99. The actual value is more determinable thanks to the market conditions.

There's something really messed up if you don't care about the person from whom you're reading several hundred pages.

Depends if the reader cares about the author?
