News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

yes this works for a while till it grows and locals start to compete with the nomads and get priced out and have to move to the outskirts of their town. I’ve seen it happen in Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Bali etc.
What I did is kinda similar, I downgraded to $20 plan and just ask questions and almost never let it write the code, and if I can I use the web ui like the good old days and not spend my CLI tokens.
But having my Tesla made in Europe phone the US is totally fine right?
Re:Can China build its own ASML? on Sunday June 28, 2026 @05:16AM (#48705695)
I love to see China evolving so fast, the only producers bringing prices down.
Re:Surprise, Pay $1000 on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @04:28AM (#48473211)
I’m running my own VPS with Woodpecker, paying for someone to do it for you seems absurd to me.
Re:Claude Opus 4.8 on Friday May 29, 2026 @02:12AM (#48319648)
Don’t even bother checking this minor PR bumps, it’s all a show, degradation then bump to the previous state.

Call me when 5 drops I’ll leave this circus.

Re:Claude Opus 4.8 on Thursday May 28, 2026 @01:39PM (#48312561)
Absolutely that’s why they’re rushing to IPO now to squeeze the last drop of the bubble they know this is a dead end.
Re:Omarchy Is Not A Distro on Sunday May 24, 2026 @01:47PM (#48259429)
If this is the price to pay for adoption I’m ok with it.
Re:Where the Goblins Came From on Thursday April 30, 2026 @02:41AM (#47959018)
Is this Xi Jinping with us in the room right now?
Re:An update on recent Claude Code quality reports on Thursday April 23, 2026 @03:33PM (#47880558)
Too late bro, switched to Codex I’m done with your bullshit.
Re:Claude Opus 4.7 on Thursday April 16, 2026 @03:47PM (#47798536)
Everyone is using AI, so nothing to be ashamed about. Is better to be open about it and add a disclaimer about how it was used.

Even if it's vibe coded as long as you are open about it there's nothing wrong, it's open source and free if someone doesn't like it can just go write it themselves.

Re:Trusted access for the next era of cyber defense on Tuesday April 14, 2026 @05:50PM (#47771952)
That’s the whole point of this variant of the model, it won’t have those guardrails.
And is not even taking water consumption into account.

Or the annoying cowbells :)

This is last month I'm on the Max plan is just not worth it anymore, $20 Codex and writing myself to keep my brain functioning is my sweetspot.

This people are not your friends, they rot your brain.

Re:Talk like caveman on Sunday April 05, 2026 @11:03AM (#47650169)
only you auto-compact. auto-compact bad
-p gets penalized is not worth using it.

It’s shame they do all this sketchy stuff, I switched to Codex I have enough of their bs.

I think this is just the beginning so people are apprehensive, rightfully so, at this stage. I agree with you that AI use should be disclosed but using the commit message as a billboard for Anthropic hell no. Go put an add on the free tier.
Re:I decompiled the White House's new app on Saturday March 28, 2026 @02:24PM (#47557076)
Is this a surprise to anyone?
Re:Migrating to the EU on Monday March 23, 2026 @11:37AM (#47490983)
Ecosia is just Google/Bing depending on location.

Qwant is the way to go

Re:OpenCode – The open source AI coding agent on Saturday March 21, 2026 @04:07AM (#47465042)
yeah I agree is way too buggy, nice tho and I appreciate the effort but really feels sloppy
Re:I'm OK being left behind, thanks on Friday March 20, 2026 @11:16AM (#47455827)
Have fun writing code yourself /s
Pretty scammy name and no info on who’s behind it.
I use stable and is the same, can't wait for Codex to offer a $100 plan I would switch in an instant
Re:We Might All Be AI Engineers Now on Friday March 06, 2026 @05:26AM (#47273199)
I find really sad how people are so stubborn to dismiss AI as a slop generator. I completely agree with the author, once you spend the time building a good enough harness oh boy you start getting those sweet gains, but it takes a lot of time and effort but is absolutely worth it.
Re:Apple introduces the new MacBook Air with M5 on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @04:13PM (#47239087)
Not on the latest but I’m happily running Asahi NixOS
Re:Gentoo on Codeberg on Tuesday February 17, 2026 @03:00PM (#47052431)
I would say started with Zig.

For us Europeans has more to do with being local that reliability or copilot.

Re:It's not you; GitHub is down again on Monday February 09, 2026 @11:57AM (#46947619)
I left for codeberg.org and my own ci runner with woodpecker. Soooo much faster than github
Re:Claude's C Compiler vs. GCC on Monday February 09, 2026 @04:32AM (#46943375)
Great article but you have to keep in mind that it was pure marketing, the real interesting question is to pass the same benchmark to CC an ask it to optimize in a loop, and see how long it takes for it to come up with something decent.

That’s the whole promise to reach AGI that it will be able to improve itself.

I think Anthropic ruined this by releasing it too early would have been way more fun to have seen a live website where you can see it iterating and the progress is making.

Re:OpenClaw Is Changing My Life on Sunday February 08, 2026 @02:35AM (#46932175)
I admire the people that can live happily in the ignorance of what’s under the hood, in this case not even under the layer of claude code because that was too much aparently so people are now putting openclaw+telegram on top of that.

And me ruining my day fighting with a million hooks, specs and custom linters micromanaging Claude Code in the pursuit of beautiful code.

Wow man been waiting for this to be updated for ages!
