I moved to the Helium browser several months ago.
movies, tv, and occasional audio books. A good blueray reader costs a bit but it is worth it to have them legally
Yeah, garage sales are another place. you can get multiple for a buck :)
Mine aren't technically VPSs but I have two mini pc.
- Jellyfin
- Audiobook shelf
- Immich
- ChangeDetection (for monitoring when something is back in stock)
- Minecraft server for my kids
- Several apps I have for my own use
- HomeAssistant
- Hermes
I picked up a new hobby of buying Linux ISOs from thrift stores. I usually get them for $1/each. Up to 300 now - all mine. Jellyfin is great to organize them
Cool idea. I tried the Memos app for this idea for a while. My problem is I never get around to organizing things /shrug
Just yesterday I was thinking about gpt-5.6-luna. I made it my default model in Hermes during its fist week of launch. It was just as good as 5.5 which was my previous default. But over the last 2 or 3 weeks I've seen how dumb it is now. I have to be very explicit with it.
For example, I used to be able to prompt "Check the system logs on <server> for...." and it would just figure it out. Yesterday I asked "Did <service> on <server> complete the overnight job" and all it said was "that service is not installed on my host"
I had to tell it to ssh into the server and run journlctl to check it
Anecdotal, I know, but they all seem to be less capable with time.
_edit_ I use the same reasoning level of `medium`

This is my first iphone since the original. I thought that is just how it was.
Yeah, it was "handoff". It was always taking a long second or two before it would open. Now it is instant

100% not sarcastic. I disabled all continuity options and the annoying delay to bring up the context menu is gone. My phone is my only apple product. I don't need it.
Oh my! That solved it! Thank you so much!
It was a mono repo with 30+ projects Most were react apps. I’m going to guess at least 5000 files in the repo.
And yes, node_modules was excluded.
I’m trying to phrase this to not be “that guy” but have you used Code on
large code bases? Vscode on my m2 Mac routinely crashed when doing file search. That is why I switched to zed.
I do miss the configurablity though
I once read that Hershey has put a calories cap of 250 on a serving of their candy. That jives with what I see on the store shelves. I wonder if Mars did the same thing and perhaps the reduction in size was due (at least in part?) to that.
I needed a transom bracket for my boat. I didn't want to buy one (they are ~50USD) so I figured I could print one using nylon. Don't worry, this is only holding a rudder.
Anyway, I couldn't find one that would work so I just asked Sol to design one using free cad. It used 12% of my weekly budget ($20/m plan) and spit out something nearly perfect. I imported it into OnShape to add some chamfers and make a few tweaks.

Hermes using gpt-5.5
Prompt: What does the message in this image say? Look closely
Response: DAY DREAM.
The outline says “PAY BILLS,” but the hidden darker text says “DAY DREAM.”
Am I the only one who just uses Privacy.com and the pauses the card when I want to cancel a subscription? They have no way of charging me....
> "You cannot invalidate individual JWT tokens". Which every time I've implemented, the general guideline is to check for invalidated nonces somewhere. Which resolves that random blog posts second point too.
100% agree. This is common sense to me and I'm always surprised to re-learn people don't do this
I currently have a desktop with a 4060 ti (16gb of vram). Most models I have tested that fit within that are not good enough for anything other then type completion (in regards to coding tasks)
I have been considering getting the 58gb Mac Mini but that is a decent amount of money to spend without confirmation on a) how fast is it and b) will it work for well-defined tasks.
When? I was a kid...7ish.
Why? Thats harder to answer. Because my parents told me about Jesus, and the Holy Spirit opened my heart to receive it. I didn't weigh the evidence. My eyes were opened and I "saw". The "why" is ultimately that I was pursued. My heart was changed and I was given faith. I wasn't smart enough and definitely didn't pursue him on my own. That's the best thing about it.
That's the only honest answer I can give.
Interesting. I lost 100% of taste and smell months. I never found anything I could taste. Spicy has zero effect. I could cut onions with no tears. Literally nothing with any food
The only “sensation” I had eas texture which I found very gross without flavor.
It was like that for about 2 months and it slowly came back over another 5 maybe 6. Salty was the first thing I noticed.
5 years later and I still don’t smell coffee, gas or a few other things. It’s weird walking down the coffee isle at the store and not smelling it at sll
Yesterday, I determined to move to Zed because they weren't pushing this stuff :(
That is different that signing something and being held to it.
You waived a right by saying that but you can choose.l to not speak after.
Even if the paper waived an attorney you should be able to change your mind
> He said he was asked to waive his rights and when he asked police whether he needed an attorney they said no because they were only asking a few questions. He signed the waiver thinking he was going to help, but a few questions turned into a nearly nine-hour interrogation
How is it we are able to legally "waive rights"? That should be addressed - under no circumstances should a not-yet-convicted person ever be stripped of rights. Voluntarily or not. Otherwise, what are they?
Sure, someone can choose to not exercise them; maybe cooperate with the police, but if at any point they choose they should be available.
Am I missing something?
Mine isn't listed. My takeaway is that it isn't rated for cold climates. For what it is worth, I know the HSPF rating is 8.8 but I don't know at what temperature that is calculated at.
This made my night. I read it with my daughter (a genz potter fan) and we still have tears. Thanks for sharing:)
It is a Trane. Sadly switching isn't like distro hopping :/
I live in the pacific northwest. Winter are low 30s at night for 3 months out of the year :( Granted, highs are mid-high 40s so it works fine during the day 90% of the time
I don't :/ I do have a smart home setup but it is local-only. I think I am capturing most of the data I need.
I know when my HVAC is running. I know how much power it is using. I know the temperature of every room, I have a stat outside so I have realtime temp/humidity of my location...I just don't have a way to capture and record how much heat is being generated. I'm wondering if putting a temperature sensor directly on an air vent would let me capture it over time
