Who would get close to the edge of a cliff while on a Segway?

Sounds like you need a smart toilet lid.
I don't know about you, but I'm paid to perform(much like a live musician I suppose). I don't get residuals on my performance. I don't list myself as the writer or composer of my code and receive payment if someone uses or derives their own work from mine. My employer might.

I haven't seen anyone here saying musicians shouldn't get paid when they perform for an audience or for a certain purpose (let's say a commercial or soundtrack)

Re:CNC milling with open source software on Friday January 18, 2019 @06:05PM (#18943982)
I've yet to see anyone make a test board on CNC that wouldn't have been made quicker and with better quality by using photoresist boards and etching them. And I have a pretty decent CNC mill.

There are two types of dremels in the world, those about to overheat and those that are burned out.

The machines do some sanity checking. Most of the issues come from the machine being improperly informed about what is on the table(height or shape) or the length of the tool in the spindle. The tool length can be tested if you have the hardware, but it's more difficult to scan the whole table for stuff that might get in the way.
There fact that they can't solve problems without us is why we can leave them alone in our houses. Can you imagine a dog with great problem solving skills in your house all day?
Back then you didn't have a lot of choice of what language to use, windows was MFC on visual studio and Mac was codewarrior(I think). The Mac and Windows versions were written by two separate teams even though we sat next to each other, and I can't think of any code shared between them, anything we could have shared would have been trivial to write from scratch. I have no explanation for the enormous size of the Mac version.

This is not true, most universities lose money on their sports programs.

His cars were registered, he paid the taxes, he just didn't put the license plate on.
A google search says yes.
Are you under the impression that a sizable portion of those currently unemployed have the skills that Apple looks for in their employees? Or are you suggesting they start up a pastry shop, carwash and clothing conglomerate?

paracetamol is acetaminophen(Tylenol) for the Americans in the audience.

Re:Alexa, are you listening? on Tuesday December 05, 2017 @03:41PM (#15855653)
Hacking an Alexa is probably one of the more difficult ways to bug a hotel room.

I don't get the fear mongering. It seems infinitely more likely my computer is compromised than some single purpose device that doesn't load code from third party developers or visit random web pages.

If we're expecting that Apple/Google/Amazon/Microsoft are the people attacking us then they have easier ways. If we expect it's outsiders then how do they even get to my Alexa?

Restaurants pay less for meat than you and I do. Trucking companies pay less for diesel than you or I would.
Sounds more like YIYBYs to me. Doesn't have the same ring to it tho.

You know. It just occurred due to me, due to your post, how convenient it must be to have every app using your APIs in one place like the app store.
You're only a slave to voting shares. We're about to watch this play out with Snap.
I didn't say you could run a dumpster fire forever, just that you don't have to worry about your short term stock price because shareholders can't do anything about it (vote a new board in and vote you out) You'd make sure your ducks were in a row before any offerings of course.
Thanks, all my teaspoons are stainless steel. I only have 8 though, so it probably evens out.
Does being publicly traded necessarily mean you focus on the short term nowadays? We've got companies like Snap who issue non voting shares. I imagine SpaceX could offer common shares that have no voting rights, accept all future dilution and require you punch yourself in the head on Tuesdays and they'd still have a pretty decent offering.
Re:Apple Is Manufacturing a Siri Speaker on Wednesday May 31, 2017 @05:37PM (#14456134)
Siri works much better on my watch than on my phone. I refuse to even use it(her?) on my phone.
Re:DIY rifles are untraceable and completely legal on Wednesday May 03, 2017 @01:23PM (#14257952)

Re:VPNs Are Absolutely a Solution to a Policy Problem on Wednesday March 29, 2017 @01:48PM (#13988797)
Is there a reason that instead of using a VPN to hide our traffic we don't just have an app that surfs randomly around the net in the background ruining the usefulness of the data collected in the first place?
I don't know about fixing it outright, but they could somehow derank hosts in search results if they have weird rejection patterns. Sex/Age/Race/Whatever
The speed doesn't change but the wavelength does. That's why we see light from other galaxies redshifted.
