Re:Anyone Have the Gdgt Podcast? on Wednesday June 07, 2023 @01:33PM (#36230165)
Hi, I used to work at gdgt and unfortunately when we were acquired by AOL in 2014 it, and the podcast MP3s got lost in the fray. Unless they're on Archive.org somewhere they're likely lost to time.
Re:Oat Milk Could Change the Way You Drink Coffee (2018) on Tuesday January 29, 2019 @08:42AM (#19026162)
Same way you make almond milk. Soak it in water, and after an amount of time compress it to "milk" it.
> Google: make 1 big, single, integrated service and when a startup supplants you in your selected market, just buy them for $15 billion.

They tried that with Google Plus. It didn't work so they tried to buy Twitter. That also didn't work, so we have the Google we have now.

Re:Tell HN: Slack decides to close down IRC and XMPP gateways on Wednesday March 07, 2018 @05:28PM (#16540557)
Did Slack ever really embrace and extend IRC and XMPP though? It always seemed to be some kind of hack to get your messages there to begin with.
The peninsula isn't really walkable.
Re:Google’s Project Fi now caps data bills at $60 on Wednesday January 17, 2018 @04:50PM (#16172310)

Re:PlainJS – Vanilla JavaScript Repository on Monday September 25, 2017 @12:05PM (#15331542)
Problem now is that you get to write, test and maintain all this instead of using something that has a whole community backing it.
Re:Apple Watch Series 3 on Wednesday September 20, 2017 @01:26PM (#15296188)
I was being sarcastic. Should have put a `/s` on there I guess.
Re:Apple Watch Series 3 on Wednesday September 20, 2017 @10:29AM (#15294093)
How am I supposed to enjoy something if I can't share it with someone else!?
Re:iPhone 8 on Tuesday September 12, 2017 @04:06PM (#15231863)
Remains to be seen if this Airpower thing will be that.
> No, it won’t be a 3.5mm headphone jack and you’ll still need an adapter if you want to connect 3.5mm headphones to your iPhone.
Why would you ever think that they'd go back and bring back a headphone jack?
Re:NBC News launches a twice-daily Snapchat news broadcast on Wednesday July 19, 2017 @04:54PM (#14807816)
It might not be your kind of thing, but a lot of people get value out of Snapchat. There's no reason to shove your nose at it like you are doing here.
Their office is/was 4 blocks from Montgomery BART. Not hard to get to at all.
You are not their target market.
Some numbers I saw going around yesterday that were looking at the discovered Bitcoin addresses totaled around $18,000.
Re:Mystery Science Theater 3000: Oral History (2014) on Monday April 17, 2017 @08:56AM (#14130571)
You know you don't have to binge it, right?
Re:Electron is flash for the desktop (2016) on Tuesday April 11, 2017 @10:58AM (#14088422)
Ah, neat.
Re:Electron is flash for the desktop (2016) on Tuesday April 11, 2017 @10:11AM (#14087893)
I don't understand the React Native comparison. AFAIK, you can't build desktop applications with that, nor can you build mobile applications with Electron like you can with React Native.
Re:AWS for Kids on Saturday April 01, 2017 @06:43PM (#14014578)
At least with open source projects you can dig into the code for yourself and see WTF you need to do.
Re:AWS for Kids on Saturday April 01, 2017 @06:12PM (#14014469)
Their documentation is always so up-to-date, and easy to discover too! I've never once searched for something, only to stumble onto a page of docs that's 3 years old and no longer relevant. Nope!
Re:Plex Media Server on Cloud on Thursday March 09, 2017 @03:34PM (#13833279)
ACD no longer works with Plex Cloud.
Re:Uber Taps Eric Holder to Investigate Discrimination Claims on Monday February 20, 2017 @10:13PM (#13692955)
Not sure why anybody is surprised. This is how the company has always been.

Re:Show HN: Ndm – Npm Desktop Manager on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @11:13AM (#13123599)

Re:Final – A credit card built for the 21st century on Wednesday October 19, 2016 @10:05AM (#12743847)

Re:PHP 7 deployment at Dailymotion on Thursday October 13, 2016 @09:41PM (#12705628)
You can make low-quality software in any language, PHP just happens to be easier to pick up.
Re:CouchDB 2.0 on Tuesday September 20, 2016 @09:25PM (#12544773)
There's an "About" link on the blog that literally explains what it is.
