I can vouch for Garage too. It was a lot simpler imo than minio and works great over a handful of servers in different DCs.
I don't know if I would call myself a vibe coder, but I definitely feel shame about putting any llm-generated code online unless I've reviewed it to the point of it being what I would've have written on my own anyway.
So lots of personal one-off tools/dashbooards that I never would have made before will probably live forever on my personal git server instead of github or somewhere.
It's _almost_ the same length if you count the period on "N/A." but not on "None."
claude can pretty easily generate pdfs and give those to the user to download, skipping the step of needing a source first.
That's a worse workflow imo than having a source w/ version history, but I don't think it's uncommon.
what do you mean by losing terminal real estate?
If you mean the navbar/where it shows the tabs/windows/whatever, doesn't ghostty also have a tab bar?
With screen/tmux (and I assume zellij), you can hide the tab bar completely if you want.
For anyone else confused like I was, Florian is who wrote the article
I'd like to see a consumer version too, I don't need a whole rack of them. I probably can't even afford one gpu-sized one
I assume it's talking about syncing/migrating from github -> origin? And not that github is hte actual upstream of origin? That would be great though
Indeed. I have several domains using cf for dns only and they don't/can't inject anything into those sites.
what does signing up get you? Since it seemed to work without an account and OPs workaround?
don't forget:
6. let llm write a blog post about this conversation
My assumption is that people who want multi-user code editors are the same people who are forced to work in a place that requires heavy pair programming.
I could see it being useful if you're helping someone debug something, but chances are it's easier just to screenshare.
To subscribe to your rss feed, of course.
\s but it made me subscribe, it's hard finding ai-related content that isn't llm-generated and also isn't crazy people.
What else is part of your rotating stacks? Asking as someone who melatonin doesn't seem to help much
Without reading the article, the original title made me think it was going to be related to voip or telephony somehow. Not using a phone as a server.
yeah, it seems confusing that people expected public share links to.. not be public?
> Managers get aggregate level view of code quality
What's the measure of code quality in this case?
Have you noticed any issues/differences compared to Vault? We ended up moving completely away from Vault because we didn't use most of its features and it wasn't worth the cost.
I was going to migrate my homelab from vault oss -> openbao, but I'm debating on whether that's even worth it or just going back to gpg encrypted files or something.
The keyboard community maybe? I think these little macro pads are neat, but I don't have a real use for them either.
Thanks for the onomatopoeia idea, I am going to steal it for my own global claude/agents.md.
This mentioned using the claude binary, is it using 'claude -p'? And are you worried about the subscription/billing changes that were supposed to take effect this month? I have a similar ui I made for myself that I'm wondering if it will just become useless eventually.
I didn't know banks were closing their SDB services. I've been thinking about getting one as an offsite/offline backup for a few important things, but maybe I'll reconsider.
Searching I do see there are some companies who aren't banks and offer similar private vault services. I wonder how reliable they are.
how do OSS projects even know unless that single engineer tells them or opens a github/etc issue or something like that?
Very cool. I don't usually get excited for new chat apps, but I like the idea of having one frontend for multiple servers instead of pushing hard on p2p or federation.
I do also still like irc, but haven't used it much in recent years because most of the people I talk to are using discord now.
I don't know what the "official" pronunciation is, but I would say "Chat-o" is probably right.
OCR is a decent use-case for smaller models. I've had good experience using gemma for OCR'ing handwritten stuff that tesseract doesn't do so well on.
But for 2, probably only useful if you have a huge batch workload you want to get done quicker and don't want the local hardware for it?
Would you see using a vpn as the better alternative to a bastion host?
I've worked at a couple places where prod is air-gapped except for the bastion host that allows access to prod. But the bastion itself is still behind a vpn. And of course each user still has separate user accounts on both the bastion box and prod boxes.
I can definitely see your point though that a bastion/jumpbox isn't enough by itself.
For some reason, I can only scroll down a little bit on medium articles and then firefox freezes that tab and won't let me scroll up or down. I assume it has something to do with adblock, but I've noticed it a lot recently.
what model(s) did you end up using with pi?
I want to move away from claude but don't have the hardware for "good" local llms, and would rather use a ZDR api instead of one of the big apis for privacy reasons.
