The people of the US would still benefit immediately by access to cheap batteries and solar...
I still wonder how this adds up against the constant daily carnage of automobile transportation?
Maybe the people who think this is OK should offer themselves?
Let's line up the MAGA and implant some electrodes in their brains.
Maybe we can understand what makes them so irrational...
A decade or so behind, in the US.
If the US didn't block import of Chinese tech, we could have electrified a decade ago.
The tech available at the current moment, is even more capable of replacing petroleum based electricity.
But our government is banning Chinese tech to serve our outdated industries instead of importing it to serve the population.
As any wise country would do when faced with superior technology, we should import it with the condition of technology exchange. Chinese manufacturers should be training US workers and industrial ownership how to produce cheap, efficient, sodium batteries.
This benefits the populous immediately, and the industries are able to advance into the current century's tech.
The overwhelming majority of generation and storage is best deployed at the point of use.
Grid scale anything, is a massive inefficiency.
The only reason grid and city scale is so prevalent in public discourse is because this is the only electricity the utility is paid for, and they are very actively impeding any other solution.
In the US, there is a very large inventory of flat roof industrial buildings, in the industrial parks that are using huge amounts of electricity. Covering all of those roofs with solar (especially here in the west US) would prevent a tremendous amount of grid scale generation, and implementing storage there would eliminate a large part of the transmission line upgrades the utilities are calling for.
The biggest problem in the US isn't technical, it's the governments desire to primarily support the solutions that are best at serving utility shareholder returns, instead of the technically superior solutions.
I have a ton of these tabs. I don't consider them "neglected" though.
Some things take years to come to fruition. You can't just go buy them at home despot.
Maybe younger people don't yet have an appreciation for things that assume an air of legacy and heritage after many years of "just sitting there".
When finally re-visited, they have a meaning that can only accumulate with the passage of significant time...
Mostly because it fails to keep all the dirt of industrial processes from landing in everyone's yard 8-/
In China, you know, where their tech is kicking our ass (why else do we need to keep an ever increasing amount of it out of the country completely?), there are new regulations that require data centers to reach total energy self sufficiency, based on sustainable sources:

Here in the US, any legal entity that's not able to spend at least millions in lobbying and other bribery is not a consideration for the government...
I like silence.
I consider noise from things like a refrigerator, or a computer case fan, to be distracting, and a reduction in the quality of my environment.
White noise is still noise, and there's no noise like no noise...
Personally, I'm sick and tired of dealing with corporate overreach based on the excuse that so many people are too stupid to operate the device responsibly.
I'm on a 3rd party, no goggle account, AOSP built OS. So I don't think this immediate change in 2027 will affect me.
While AOSP is a current workaround, this whole ability to build a non-goggle android via AOSP is also under threat from goggle lockdown.
That means this trend of having to part with the OS intended for the too stupid population is only going to increase.
So, needing to depart from android completely is in the near term.
Linux phones become ever more usable, including android in a jail.
The current furiphone is a great example.
For time nuts, it's always time...
If you don't get it, then, you just don't get it...
If you want to "live on mars", just bury a cargo container in the Nevada desert and move in.
You'll have the advantages of significantly reduced cosmic radiation, and the grocery store is much closer...
And "capture" is almost as bad as "shoot" 8-/
"Photographed" would be much preferred.
I don't know if this is typical petapixel parlance.
It almost seems as if it was written this way as click bait...
Unlike iPhone selfies around the moon, or golf on mars.
Manned space missions are very rarely justified in the modern era.
An unmanned probe doing science for 20 years, or a one shot influenza photo op.
The cost is about the same...
Github has gone to shit ever since it's purchase by M$
The orange orangutan-in-chief has created enough of a chaos circus that what is arguably the greatest threat to our species long term survival, has basically dropped of the priority list, and the news cycle.
With 1/2 of the US population thinking that chemistry 101 is libtard fake news, and that there's some big invisible white guy in outer space that's going to "save" us.
Once again, I'm led directly to the conclusion, that I'm REALLY glad I wasn't born into the millennial generations...
Good luck with all of that...
With billions of planets in our galaxy alone, would anyone predict that there were none?
But the next thing I would have to say is: So what?
We're never going to reach any of them.
Not in our lifetimes, and not in the next 1000 years.
Maybe the main thing to focus on at this point would be trying to enable our murderous, backstabbing, hateful species to survive for the next 1000 years.
Which is not looking promising at this point...
If that was the exception, almost everyone who watches Kill Bill would be committing murder.
And almost everyone who watched it didn't.
But some people did:

Personality traits and family instability didn't suddenly increase around 2013, online media use did.
Along with an increasing percentage of people experiencing mental health issues, but not all people.
Correlated but not proven causative? Certainly, but please, present other correlated phenomenon, more likely to be causative...
Allowing such a consolidation of control over the internet was a huge mistake.
I found it when looking for a lamp that doesn't expose the bulb itself, which is exactly what it was designed for.
That's incorrect, see the wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_polar_wander
It's about the physical axis of rotation moving around.
It'd be nice to access the paper at science.org...
It's much stronger, and in the long term biodegradable.
I guess we're just no there yet...
