This isn’t a new thing for Linode. A customer service panel vulnerability in the past was the reason Bitcoinica got hacked in the early bitcoin days: https://spectrum.ieee.org/thousands-of-bitcoins-stolen-in-a-...

Re:Amazon to buy satellite firm Globalstar in $11.57B deal on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @09:16AM (#50273056)
The news is that the FCC approved the acquisition. It was already announced back in April that Amazon would be purchasing Globalstar. I don’t think anyone expected it to be held up by regulators.

The HDD connector usually unseats slightly and it stops working. Pop it open with a credit card and reseat it. A more dangerous way that sometimes gets it working again is to wait for it not to be spinning and give the edge a good smack against palm of your hand. This usually works to reset it the tiny bit it needs…

Required watching for more on the extreme Kushner family corruption, I see other comments going on about his father-in-law, why not learn how fucked up his father is as well: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U-xT3ilk51c

For a something this big they'd probably have execs making a visit to a certain forest.

Gentoo has it updated.
If you're on Gentoo, I've been keeping this maintained in their main tree. Had the patched version available for users since July 15th...

I also maintain a netbird ebuild in my overlay if you want a FOSS alternative to tailscale to put it behind.

>The latter should provide complete protection from IMSI/IMEI sniffing by rogue base stations.

Only on SA and even there it is optional: https://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/CSWP/NIST.CSWP.36A.pdf

No clue how to write this publication for a correction. Ridiculous.

The employer is in Clifton, NJ... not Clinton.

Likely a major limiting factor behind doing another Curiosity is plutonium-238 being scarce (it’s too big to rely on solar). Production was only restarted a few years ago: https://science.nasa.gov/planetary-science/programs/radioiso...

Believe it or not at least 40 million tons of it ends up in the Amazon basin each year where it does have an effect on the plants there: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/1/1/014...

It goes elsewhere too, as expected.

Re:Eating Fruit Skins on Saturday September 12, 2026 @10:08PM (#49679244)
>I think we can assume that apples and cherries are OK to eat. Apple pips are fine and why on earth would you want to crunch through a cherry stone.

Black cherries (prunus serotina) I ate a whole bunch of during late summer. Much smaller than the Prunus avium (sweet cherry) which ripens around early June here. Allegedly the fruit does contain the cyanide producing compounds but without the enzymes. The catch is if you chew the pits (or eat the leaves/stems) it is poisonous. Poisons a lot of horses and other livestock: https://horsedvm.com/poisonous/black-cherry-trees

Re:Getting 50 GB/S Back from the Apple Neural Engine on Saturday September 12, 2026 @09:59PM (#49679202)
This only appeared to happen with Safari on my end. Edge and Firefox didn't appear to have the back button hijacked here. Maybe some browsers do block the behavior now? (or maybe ublock origin blocked it, I'm not sure)

I'm wondering if caffeine was accounted for in this. One thing I seem to recall is peppermint tea has some inhibition of CYP1A2. I notice it's missing from the wikipedia page now, so maybe this was a flawed study or something... figured I'd mention in case anyone else knows.

At least this study says the activity was reduced, not significantly though: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S02786...

Re:Adafruit USB Type C CC Resistor Fixer on Monday August 24, 2026 @01:25PM (#49423099)
There were some higher profile products that left this out like the original revisions of the raspberry pi 4.

Re:Telegram Removed from App Store on Monday August 03, 2026 @10:38PM (#49163824)
still appears if you are in their testflight beta… weird

EDIT: apparently restored to appstore according to various sources.

Been moving all my domains to them for a couple years now. Happy so far with them and they handle some of the harder tld’s to find a registrar for.
Re:Linux 7.1 on Sunday June 14, 2026 @09:17PM (#48535286)
It’s good. I packaged it in my gentoo overlay and have been using it for a couple months, none of the weird issues ntfs3 had.
> vaultwarden is great, but password managers are security critical software that need consistent maintenance and constant updates.

You’re acting like this isn’t the case already with vaultwarden? (and it’s easier to host as well, making for easier updates) https://github.com/dani-garcia/vaultwarden/releases

lighttpd still around too, on 1.4.82, not too much changed there.
To expand a little on this, Zelle and debit card transactions are covered under Regulation E: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/rules-policy/regulations/100... . So there’s a codified procedure for disputes, it’s just a little less consumer friendly.

> Aren't you choosing to ignore something very specific specified in that article?

Of course not, did you ignore the lines right after? “As we have moved towards broader access it has not caused problems, which we take as a good sign. We are now looking to do this more broadly.”

The announcement is from 9 years ago. I already mentioned they ignored the robots.txt for my own blog.

> There's Supreme Court precedent establishing that this isn't the case.

This? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Martinez-Fuer... or is there newer now?

> ACLU itself had backed off it, last I checked

They did, the current page greatly narrows the scope of their border-zone guidance to the SCOTUS case I linked before: https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

Which they don’t respect. I’ve had it for my blog for years and they still added it to wayback machine, see my last comment for their official announcement of the ignore robots.txt policy, it is not new.
No, archive.org does NOT respect robots.txt. You need to reach out to them directly and ask your site not be included: https://blog.archive.org/2017/04/17/robots-txt-meant-for-sea...
