It might be because it is one of the few trackers that can track laps in pools less than 14 meters. Most of the others watches don't allow that, which might be due to a difference in sensors and the way the tracking is done.

Universities usually do that, they work on open problems and publish their findings for free.
On the Nordstream explosion, Russia continued to push gas into the pipeline after the explosion. Why, if it is broken, lose that gas to kill a whole ecosystem close the Danish / Swedish exclusive zones?

Also which other country does have an interest in cutting internet cables between Europe and the US?

They plan to make the water clear enough to swim in it by 2030, so it might also be kayakable.

Greyscale and no social media did reduce my smartphone consumption a lot. And consulting Instagram / Reddit only on a computer is not a death in itself (plus I use Intention [1] to keep my time on those websites in a normal range.

Re:Why Dopamine Makes People More Impulsive (2016) on Saturday May 14, 2022 @07:55AM (#31377090)
Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke is also a great read on the subject. My favorite part is about why taking a cold shower feel so good afterward (your body create serotonin when it has a negative experience, and must compensate by creating dopamine after, and that dopamine is the feel good post shower feeling).
Re:Ask HN: What's the best book you read in 2021? on Friday December 24, 2021 @08:51AM (#29673555)
Super Pumped is a really well written page turner, and the subject is really interesting.

Not having natural light is one of the best way to attack your mental health. This building is just a bad design, and human are not made to live without natural lights.
The Green party in France is as divided on this question as in Germany. The current impulse is led by the current center-right government. Germany, with the same kind of government, decided to go all in for gaz (mainly from Russia).
Re:Why don’t the French celebrate Lafayette? on Friday September 10, 2021 @08:15AM (#28480434)
They are heavily politicized in their presentation of France history (for example one of the spectacle is about the christians persecutions in Rome, where the christians are the good guide, and the romans are the bad guys).

Another famous recent event is that they bought one of Joan of Arc ring, but it was mainly a nationalist move more than something important to preserve (Joan of Arc is from the east / north part of France) (for more infos: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anneaux_de_Jeanne_d%27Arc).

Overall, the parc is an entertainment place as much as a political tool, but not a lot of people are aware of it, and most of them are eating their propagande like the true story of France (due to lack of education on history mainly).

Gesaffelstein is bringing an innovative sound, Brodinski was interesting at some point. Look for Ed Banger Records, they lead a bit the French Touch.
But Western European diet "americanized" itself a lot recently. For example in France, some of the staple meals are burgers, tacos[0] and kebab.

Deutsche Welle is comparable to the BBC for Germany[0], and they are financed by the German state but stay independent. It is more a bad website than something else.

Re:Ask HN: What Lived Up to the Hype? on Thursday December 24, 2020 @08:43PM (#25533452)
Maradona was always see as the star of the teams where he played, even when he was young. Plus he came from a poblacion, those ghettos in Argentina where people live with next to nothing. Messi on the other side came from a middle class family, and had his dream of being a professional player broke as a young kid by Newells due to his height problems.

The two has different histories, and should not be compared I think., except on the football side.

Re:Herald – Bluetooth contact tracing protocol on Monday December 21, 2020 @04:44AM (#25493430)
But France showed repeatedly that they don't understand science, do want to listen to it, and don't want to learn from it. From the masks to the current christmas holidays who will create a 3rd wave, they proved they don't handle this virus very well.

Add to that a bit of science nationalism from the De Gaulle era, and we ended up with that app.

What would a qualify someone to be a Bond villain? I don't have enough experience or knowledge about what qualify your for being a Bond villain, but this guy might be quite high is you account disruption / scale / chaos / get money-power out of it....

Re:50% – 75% of cases of Covid-19 are asymptomatic on Tuesday March 17, 2020 @05:34AM (#22603198)
I have similar symptoms to yours. I live in Paris and the number of cases here are exploding, but so far for me the mains symptoms are an high temperature, general tiredness and a sore throat/ dry eyes. So far so good, but each day passing I feel a bit more tired. The doctor advised me to take paracetamol every 4 hours, and to stay inside. Also here in France, they are sending SMS to any suspected case with advices and to know if the symptoms are evolving towards the worse case, which is the difficulty to breath.
Re:Internal FAA Review Saw High Risk of 737 Max Crashes on Wednesday December 11, 2019 @12:22PM (#21764595)
As a consumer there is no way I will never book a flight on a 737 Max (even if those planes are allowed to fly again), and if I have the choice between flying a Boeing and an Airbus, I will buy the flight on an Airbus. Boeing clearly needs to get back the flyers trust.

Re:Summer heat killed nearly 1,500 in France, officials say on Thursday September 12, 2019 @11:17AM (#20952422)
The use of AC in France is also quite foreign. None person in my family use one, despite them living all over the country. But go to the states or to India, and there is AC everywhere.
I guess if you do some stretching before/after, and some body weight workout, the amount of injuries you might suffer go down. Or did you just ran every time, without extra work?
Many people got the story of that race from the book "Born to run". Could you tell your story of that race ?
