just tell investors to look at adjusted net ebitda. you'll be fine, they won't even notice (sarcasm because you need this stuff spelled out for you)

It called the fully adjusted number “community adjusted Ebitda,” by which it subtracted not only interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, but also basic expenses like marketing, general and administrative, and development and design costs. Those earnings were $233 million, WeWork said.

i was being sarcastic. my fault. the joke is wework, theranos, snapchat, lyft...
has anyone cared about net income in decades? maybe it's about signaling to investors, "we have 100s of people working on [emergent technology]"

whenever I see [select distinct ... group by] , i know i'm in for some bs. the original code creator had some duplication/cartesians but never properly addressed it

Live in an apartment and don't have dimmer switches. I like the cool colors that they make. I hate the phone app aspect.

strong agree here man. I like to think controlling my living environment being a primary function of life

have you used the nanoleaf api? I just want to be able to control my lights from my terminal and I'm not smart enough at hacking to get hue to work
Re:SQL Join Flavors on Thursday September 21, 2023 @11:21PM (#37607439)
why do people use right joins. i'll never understand it. especially in this case you when you can just query purchases directly and joining to users is pointless.
Re:SQL Join Flavors on Thursday September 21, 2023 @11:12PM (#37607396)
just for clarity ordering your where clauses can matter right? I've tested it and it made a difference, i'm not hallucinating right
making new friends!

i don’t in my hometown and didn’t go to school near my home state.

old friends get harder to see every passing year. it’s just incrementally harder to stay in touch given the geographical distance. i do text and visit when i can

whoa, you’ve really opened my eyes! i’ve now realized my lived personal experience is invalid

gonna take your advice and cut off the people i’ve met because hospitalJail is skeptical!

Appreciate you providing insight into my life

man I did this with facebook and it obliterated my social connections. it doesn’t make sense from a micro perspective, game theory sucks man

i installed instagram in december and it’s so much easier to make friends. I feel in touch with what’s going on in the community

especially on a programming forum. Knowing Python, SQL, and R has been hugely beneficial. I can read Ruby scripts and colleagues can talk me through JS without me ever writing those.

Would be surprised if knowing multiple spoken language didn't help at all!

i’m of then opinion it’s the other way around. with better technology you can get better reference tracks and push your artistic limits.

you’ll be able to create more music as a result. and get clearer feedback on the end result

imo the mixing engineers are better used to make your ideal vision stronger. also make the drums hit and ensure the guitar doesn’t clash.

if you just use them to make vocals sound pleasant, it’s going to be less valuable

Re:AI-generated Drake and The Weeknd song goes viral on Monday April 17, 2023 @11:26AM (#35602179)
just buy cla vocals and waves autotune (tune real-time) from waves. it uses automated parameters to “fix” your voice

downvotes incoming from real musicians and audio engineers but for less than 100 bucks you can get your vocals 80% of the way there.

imo it’s amazing for songwriting

Re:AI-generated Drake and The Weeknd song goes viral on Monday April 17, 2023 @11:20AM (#35602085)
idk about well off, his mother was an english teacher not a hedge fund exec.

nothing wrong with hiring people.

If you dislike autotune and pop music, i think that’s valid. but it’s really a function of artists responding to consumer preference. there are plenty of high quality niche artists who don’t have the mainstream appeal or success

gonna be a surpise when society finds out about the bamboo ceiling. and people aren't rushing to promote asian american ceos
>The worst days dealing with idiot product management and never-ending Jira tickets don't compare to unloading a truck in a hot warehouse or kneeling in a crawlspace for hours re-piping a sewer line.

damn i can only imagine

it's unclear if the causation here is having a degree. but it is correlated to a very large degree

people are rewarded for things outside of their control everyday. people are crushed for things outside of their control everyday
Re:Why I Stopped Using an External Monitor on Saturday March 04, 2023 @09:54AM (#35021152)
this is the correct take for Netflix and Christopher Nolan. The answer is they used to.

I read a forum where an engineer was working on a TV show would flip the show in his living room, bedroom, guest bedroom. Walking around the house making sure the sound was balanced everywhere, driving his wife insane.

It's not engineers making that decision it's Nolan overreaching "If you see it particularly in an IMAX theater, projected, it’s pretty remarkable". source -> https://www.indiewire.com/2020/11/christopher-nolan-director...

Not sure what his deal is. 'Nolan also admitted in a 2017 interview with IndieWire that his team decided “a couple of films ago that we weren’t going to mix films for substandard theaters,” adding, “We’re mixing for well-aligned, great theaters.”' source -> https://www.indiewire.com/2020/09/tenet-sound-mixing-backlas...

It's madness. Idk what Netflix's excuse is. Their spec sheet is 2600+ words. But I think the issue is this line "5.1 audio is required and 2.0 is optional." My best guess if you have 5 speakers and subwoofer it's fine. But if you're on cheap headphones or a laptop good luck.

Re:Replacing a SQL analyst with 26 recursive GPT prompts on Wednesday January 25, 2023 @05:14PM (#34524899)
wait what? that number is so big you know it's wrong. commas in numbers are nightmare to deal with and the .0 lets you know it's a decimal not an integer.

If it was formatted like 133,854,113,715,608, you'd be stuck trying to figure out if it possibly meant "133,854,113,715,608" or [133,854,113,715,608] which would be awful.

Format numbers in excel or any other reporting tool. lmfao i like your comment. what's miserable to you is a lifesaver for me

I think it does though, ages are right skewed. The median is likely under 29 in this example

+1 on the dynamic mic. It's personal preference and I sound way better on a dynamic mic, plus it doesn't pick up background noise
