They should just have a manually selected touch mode. They are second class citizens and should be treated as such.

That doesn't seem like flying to me
Re:Mozilla Introduces Firefox Enterprise on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:12PM (#50077970)
Every single ounce of sweat put towards an AI feature or redesign or side project (anon email) should have been put towards this, and implemented, a long time ago. And this will ACTUALLY make them more money, and allow them to actually build a better browser.

Obfuscating token cost is the new great marketing frontier
Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @09:27AM (#50056174)
Every heavy handed ban on AI is just an example of an over-moderated and over-opinionated community.
Re:The AI Race Just Got Awkward on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @12:49PM (#49911345)
It is kind of ironic that they scraped the web for publicly available data and used it freely to train their models and now their freely available models are being used to train other models.
This thread is fucking unhinged
> Has food ever looked like the picture, though? I find this position unrealistic outside of an Amazon return excuse.

Yeah man it's unrealistic for restaurants to take pictures of the food they make and use that for the menu. Totally.

It's surprising that an American company would forego so many common sense safety and security mechanisms just to protect their bottom line.

I feel the same way about Starfield. Just soulless projects instead of engaging video games.
Re:How much of HN is AI? on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @12:19PM (#49436533)
I think you answered your own question, simply un-democratize access. Go places with high barriers of entry.
Re:Don't Paste the AI, please on Thursday August 20, 2026 @09:30AM (#49374345)
Hey if you want to passive agressively send AI responses to people because you are disgruntled that they even asked and have decided you don't want to confront them directly, go for it.

But I think the point of the original author still stands, even in that context.

If you want to write misleading articles to get clicks, it makes it a lot more interesting if it sounds like there's a lot of intentionality behind what META is doing.

In reality META has simply not banned or restricted these accounts from monetization. That's it! But that doesn't make for an exciting headline.

The criteria does not make value judgements about the content of the creator. Unless they are banned or suspended by the entire platform.
The invitation is automated
They wrote that title specifically to mislead people.
> it was never intended to create some vast ARR revenue stream or reframe the way people look at AI. If Meta wanted to exploit it for personal success then they had lots of opportunities to do so.

They release the base model as open source, everyone uses it. They make a paid version, no one uses it.

They make no money from the open source version, they get no social credit from it. Where is the benefit to having an open source model?

It's so fun how corporations are protected from individual liability but also their money is treated a speech.
Re:Why I Stopped Arguing with People on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @10:38AM (#48747575)
I can't control other people. I believe in extreme accountability. If my arguments are not working on someone, then I need to make different arguments.
This is just a fact. It's a ponzi scheme.
This is like the guy at Techdirt writing another article about how dumb Elon is.
Re:A website that lists websites to submit your website to on Thursday June 18, 2026 @02:51PM (#48589785)
Hey thanks for letting me spam BetaList and get a startup I worked for some decent exposure!
More blood will be spilled of unsuspecting academics before the credulity of the science industrial complex can be restored.
Re:Building an HTML-first site doubled our users overnight on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @03:34PM (#48481466)
There are truly an amazing amount of red flags in this otherwise well meaning and short post.

Let us pin this comment and see how it ages

Shilling for an old employer. This is a neat super simple device that takes incoming headphone and converts to FM.

You don't think the concerns have any validity? Sounds kind of hand wavey to me.
