while it is a well-known fact it is not always possible to diversify effectively due to external factors like transaction costs, legislation (e.g.: managed pension plans), not enough principal, etc.

I don't know what is your position both in life and financially but sounds like you don't really care because you can tolerate risk and losses?

I've recently moved to Europe and if there is something that I personally dislike is the higher amount of alcohol in both social and work life in general.
At least in the country I live, it's quite accepted to mandate your day with a high volume of coffee, cigarettes then cool down with alcohol.
And I am coming from NYC.

I understand your sarcasm, but what is sad some people actually think this way.

It surely does, depending on the interest rate and risk.

hehe. My typical example for how a technical interview can go absurd is cartwheels.
Again, nothing wrong with someone trying to get it right but at the end of day we all lose.

I am not sure if it's just money but the public sector can't or are unable reach the same market as the private sector.

This is a very good point. I recently moved to Denmark, and the biggest cultural shock is the huge trust Danes have with their public sector..

Came here to say that, fellow Dane. You don't need to bypass regulations to provide a quality service.

Ex-New Yorker here, I've seen my single co-workers spend all their money with expensive rents, gadgets, social life and traveling.

It all depends on the size of your problem. For some cases, there is no need of a professional advice other than just holding hands... I bet you could represent yourself in a small court claim, diagnose yourself with some OTC medication (or hitting the pub?) and file your tax with turbotax depending on your tax year.

Yes, after settling in a country with public sponsored health care and affordable housing, I can say that it takes very little to live comfortably. Also, not having Amazon saves a lot of money.

This. Know thy recruiter, they can hand pick your interview loop with better interviewer.

Right, those examples albeit being good to convince a kid to into 5 yrs college are rarely the reality in the IT business. Quality has a price that most of the companies are not willing to pay and might as well detract'em from tapping into a new market.

It boggles me that we still are faced with aggregated statistics to deny there is opioid crisis going on. If nothing else, alcohol and tobacco are also prone to addiction and should be curbed as well.

I am based in Copenhagen and can see some innovation at the application level but there is a lot of catch-up as well, mostly focused at the nordics internal market.
For lower levels of the stack (e.g.: IaaS), there is no way to be competitive against SV without subsidy b/c fwcit there is no access to capital nor enough talents to this problem size.
The prospective is not getting any better at the immigration level, the greencard schema has been repelled and companies are having even harder time to attract talent.

Well, you don't see that at home b/c it's just you perhaps? Joke aside, I also notice there is a lot of slacking off in offices when people are required to do some face time.

I'd say it's just a matter of budget.
