I guess it depends on what you want out of life too. I did not go to Uni, started my career early and had a very comfortable income my entire 20’s. No debt, travelled all over the world, relaxed freelance contracts. I had a lot of free time and low stress.
Later I joined one of my freelance clients as a co-founder (early 30s), more risky than the FAANG path but we’re on the right path to a comfortable pension.
I wouldn’t trade my life for that of some of my FAANG friends.
Podman supports just the pod spec also used by kubernetes. How much orchestration do you need on a local machine?
I started using an extension called “social focus”. Allows me to hide all kinds of distractions on social media and YouTube, can highly recommend
Not updating your browser will net you tons of exploitable vulnerabilities.
How do you expect things to ever change if no one ever updates? Certainly even if you decide to lean towards maximum support it’s still a positive these features are being introduced so you can use them in 10 years.
Back in the day I believe I just installed the OS on a USB stick and used the SD card only to boot of that.
You can get a free cert from letsencrypt using their dns challenge. No need to expose to the internet. Add a DNS record that points to the address of your LAN and it’ll make things even easier for your guests.
I like using Vercel v0 for frontend
Even if it is intended as a hint to human observers, during a big scandal in my country a few years ago turned out all the gov officials where blindly following the computer advise. Many where falsely accused of fraud by tax authorities, almost all where from ethnic minorities.
I agree with you on the subjects are boring rich people, if we judge it with today standards. For the time it was actually quite unique that (upper) middle class people could get their portrait done, and not just nobles.
I like to think of it as part of a period of history where the merchants start to gain power from the aristocracy and that shows in what gets passed down to us.
Additionally you can use Tailscale for added convenience. Tailscale is a payed service, for a simple home server you can get away with the free plan and their mobile apps work rather well.
Not affiliated with Tailscale at all just shouting them out because they do make things very easy and I often recommend them to hobbyist.
Thank you for bringing this up, I almost ignored this project since I assumed it had something to do with TypeScript + JSX.
The JS ecosystem sure struggles with naming things.
If chrome permissions made sense a user could choose to activate the extension when they visit a site.
Also the extension could have no network access and have read-only access to the DOM to name a few improvements.
If you start to think about optimising the performance of your bash scripts it might be time to rewrite in another language
I just mount a case sensitive Apple File System disk image at ~/code, works well
HN is so full of negative comments like these. OP I’m very impressed you learned all of this at 17! I started coding when I was a teenager but still haven’t released something like this 10 years later.
I would love some reading recommendations on the history of Indonesia after Dutch colonialism
I think this is antithetical to most people’s view of privacy on this platform :)
I really enjoy reading /r/askHistorians. It’s a strongly moderated community with high quality content. Truly and example for what the internet can be.
Ah I was just experimenting with what was possible, essentially I wanted to intercept notifications from an app to use for an automation.
From my experimentation with writing my own push notification client for android, this is exactly what Google does with their push messages.
You are right most developers are not very good at that. I think it’s important to stress that this goes both ways. You should not cut your margins if you take longer, but I also think it is a little unethical to bill more hours than one spends no? At least if you have a clear agreement to bill by the hour.
That links returns 404 for me :(
This is very cool! One suggestion: I would like to be able to see the generated CSS live so I can learn how the effect is actually created and how playing with options modify the output (could not find an option on mobile).
It sends our request over a lot of proxies so your scraper does not get rate limited or blocked by ip address.
To be fair Buenos Aires queueing is on another level, neatest I’ve ever seen.
If I enter a shopping mall in my country I expect it to be American the same way I expect a McDonald’s to be American. I mean, the very concept is foreign.
Mind altering drugs allows one to glimpse what kind of person one could be if they where e.g more empathetic or less anxious. It can help people better understand such feelings.
I can understand the “true self” narrative, when one loses their constant anxiety for on a trip for example, those feeling suddenly start to feel different in sober life, as if they are no longer a part of you but instead are with you. Hence why you discover your “true self”, who does not have such negative feelings.
I once found 15gb+ of Spotify cache from my 256gb MacBook. Deleted the app and use the web player now.
> pay or lose months or years of history.
You can download all your workspace data now, includes chat history.
Chat history on free plan was already limited, so I don’t think anyone who was aware of that was using it as an archive.
