Re:When Antifa Hysteria Sweeps America on Friday June 19, 2020 @04:20PM (#23578501)
It’s good to be prepared. The threat is real. Just look at what happened in Seattle: they took over 6 blocks, kicked out all the police, and set up walls and checkpoints for their new country: CHAZ but it has not yet been internationally recognized
Re:It's Time to Build for Good on Thursday April 30, 2020 @04:36PM (#23035788)
Here in the Bay Area we have local politicians who brag about all the building plans they’ve shut down and voters applaud this!
Re:Mistakes That Kill Startups (2006) on Sunday April 05, 2020 @05:23PM (#22788848)
Most software startups die due to lack of demand for their product.
First we are legally required to give them our info then they leak it
Re:Microsoft recommends WA and CA employees work from home on Wednesday March 04, 2020 @10:36PM (#22490726)
I don’t know why this is being downvoted so much. It’s a legitimate abbreviation considering that washing hands is the most well known deterrent for the virus
Re:A Brief History of California’s Housing Crisis on Saturday February 22, 2020 @11:05PM (#22395063)
Poop town SF is becoming less aspirational by the year.

And can you really say SF is aspirational if Houston is growing 4 times faster?

Re:A Brief History of California’s Housing Crisis on Saturday February 22, 2020 @11:03PM (#22395053)
Nope. If you count growth by population increases, Houston is growing more than 4 times faster than SF and still able to keep housing costs low.
Well an H1b is basically like an indentured servant that works for a fraction of the cost and much longer hours. Some Companies want low cost labor.
When you get rejected, it’s not about you. There’s just too many high quality candidates and too few positions. It’s just the inevitable outcome of a vast oversupply of talent
Re:On Resigning from Google on Friday February 07, 2020 @08:09PM (#22272935)
Considering the massive over supply of labor, I’d say they could very easily replace that 20% several times over before they had any problems finding more engineers.
Sure there’s land everywhere especially in the east bay I can see miles and miles of empty space even from 580

I meant politically, the Bimbys don’t want more people in the bay area that’s why so many anti growth politicians get elected

The Bay Area is full. Voters certainly don’t want any growth here. It’s time for companies to move out of the bay area
Talent shortage is a myth. Companies place themselves in the worst locations which are the least accessible places in the US (extremely high rent and commute distance) and then wonder why they only get a modest number of applicants.

Also, I’ve noticed many companies are terrible at highering

The vast oversupply of talent has gotten so large employers can’t even be bothered to read resumes anymore: Ai will. This is what happens when ever larger percentage of society gets more and more degrees
I seriously doubt you can “slack off” and keep your job. I think your probably being to hard on yourself. Imposter syndrome happens to many
Re:The Light Phone on Friday January 03, 2020 @09:47PM (#21952478)
No. Most android phones come with a ton of ininstallable apps that take up a huge amount of room
Of course it’s not called that

It’s called a corporate restructuring. Or they’ll just fire a few people here and there until they get to 10%. They call it “we re heading in a new direction”

We have had over 2% for the last 3 years. That’s already pretty high

Decentralized services won’t help at all unless the means by which people find stuff on the web is decentralized: google.
