Re:The EPA Is Quietly Killing Its Web Archive on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:11PM (#50250201)
I hate the click-bait smell of "quietly". For me it's in the same category as "eviscerated." The hyperbole factory rolls ever onward...

Prompt Claude for PR articles?
Re:Car is a smartphone on wheels. Here's who's listening on Sunday October 04, 2026 @01:09PM (#49955734)
Is there a market for taking newer models and stripping them of their connectivity?
Can we get it to manipulate us into being harmless to each other? I wouldn't mind that, especially if the manipulation was purposely transparent...
That's one busy looking site. Hard to parse...
Re:Anthropic sets up biology lab as it ramps AI drug program on Friday September 18, 2026 @08:01AM (#49753150)
"The startup wants to push how its Claude AI can direct robotic units to carry out science experiments with limited human intervention..."

Why? Why??? Isn't this one area you'd want extreme human intervention? I'm not against trying out new research tools. I just wonder why you'd want to allow the tools to work autonomously?

Re:Proof of care in the age of AI on Tuesday July 14, 2026 @10:17AM (#48907288)
If I had handwritten this, there would be at least one (likely lots more) errors in writing crossed out mingled in with the text. That there isn't makes me wonder why such a lengthy sample contains seemingly zero handwriting errors. Is that plausible?

EDIT: After seeing the comments, I am realizing how little I ever rewrote my own writings, an admitted weakness of mine. It was the blindspot behind which I made my reply!

I wish I could disagree with you, but I live in Florida.

Couldn't they focus some of their creativity on making the UI look less like the inside of a middle schooler's brain?

At my old job I had a phone that had IR remote capability. I'd turn off or mute the blaring TVs in our break rooms. Good times.
Re:Buteyko Method on Saturday December 20, 2025 @11:09AM (#46337151)
This method helped me stop snoring. Life-changing.
But VVV is aimed at developers; the OP describes a different use case, in which he also eloquently explains my dilemma, and that I'm sure of many others: we want to write for our blog, not develop our blog. I am very interested in his project going forward...

Free "with ads" doesn't interest me as much as free from ads.
Re:Show HN: Open-Source Video Editor Web App on Sunday May 12, 2024 @08:57AM (#40334061)
If I needed a free editor, not sure why I would consider this a better alternative to the many other FOSS or even proprietary and free options out there. Such as Davinci Resolve, etc. (https://alternativeto.net/software/davinci-resolve/?license=...). I get that it's all client-side, but that is not an advantage to people working with video files, which are often large, and upload speeds are often the biggest bottleneck.

I'm honestly giving constructive criticism, and any prospective employer should be asking you these questions.

Hopefully nothing to do with Andromeda Strain https://i.imgflip.com/1led1b.gif
I would prefer citizens themselves to elect citizen review board members.

Re:Generative AI is killing our sense of awe on Saturday December 02, 2023 @12:34PM (#38500219)
Only if you rely on screens for your awe. If you can get away from light pollution, going outside on a clear night is one good way to experience awe. Substitute your favorite way to experience nature in person...
