News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

jfarina

It's awkwardly phrased and doesn't really say what it intends to (though, the meaning is obvious after reading it a second or third time).

As for it being imprecise, it doesn't talk about any specific software that has any compatibility issues. It dismisses the topic out of hand.

WHile this is cool, I can't imagine that this provides a universal fit. It seems like they did a lot to tailor it to their dog.
Re:Ozempic does not slow Alzheimer's, study finds on Tuesday November 25, 2025 @12:34PM (#46048256)
Maybe because poor diet has been linked to alzheimers?
More complicated than when? You used to have kids because you needed more hands to work the farm and a good number of them died young.
Re:Claude Skills on Thursday October 16, 2025 @02:12PM (#45608777)
Why are you asking them to cite something for that statement? Are you questioning whether it's the foundation for intelligence or whether LLMS understand goals and consequences?
That's not relevant to the comment you replied to.
What strategy is that?

Seriously. Can I copyright 34 * 712 * 9.2 * pi? I didn't think you could.

They're abolished as long as you can afford the lawyers to fight an underfunded government agency indefinitely.
Re:How University Students Use Claude on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @10:18PM (#43640017)
If they can perform well without reviewing the material, that's a problem with either the performance measure or the material.

And not watching lectures is not the same as not reviewing the material. I generally prefer textbooks and working through proofs or practice problems by hand. If I listen to someone describe something technical I zone out too quickly. The only exception seems to be if I'm able to work ahead enough that the lecture feels like review. Then I'm able to engage.

Can you rebrand a species? Drinking vomitoria sounds less than appetizing.
Re:xAI has acquired X, xAI now valued at $80B on Friday March 28, 2025 @08:28PM (#43511499)
Is that what a corporate lawyer would say?
I disagree that attackers aren't sophisticated enough to use modified tools. There are entire work campuses dedicated to committing fraud. There's also state sponsored subterfuge. There's no reason to think that bad actors are intrinsically unsophisticated.
Re:DeepSeek proves the future of LLMs is open-source on Wednesday January 29, 2025 @01:14PM (#42868844)
They outlined the methodology. They didn't publish their code or the training set.
Boeing. It's literally the post.
It does if you work in data science/machine learning.
IDK. I think sometimes people lean into the idiosyncrasies of their own ADHD. I have ADHD, but I get sucked into writing code because it lets me focus in a way that dishes and laundry do not.
Re:Woman wins 12-year legal battle against Google on Monday October 23, 2023 @09:36AM (#37985400)
I don't know about that. Even with a company like Google, 12 years is a long time. What if the responsible attorney retired? I've never worked in a legal setting, but I could imagine that causing their work being reevaluated for cost effectiveness.
Re:Gorilla: LLM Connected with APIs on Thursday May 25, 2023 @01:47PM (#36073769)
It sounds like it can expedite the interpretation of the APIs documentation.
Calling the internet private and anonymous is wishful thinking. Data is constantly owned, bought and sold.

Vacation payouts shouldn't be relevant. They are earned while working, so they are compensation from the period when you worked.

Unless, of course, you are trying to collect during a period that is scheduled as a vacation? That could create problems.

Re:A Senior Engineer's Guide to the System Design Interview on Thursday March 02, 2023 @04:50PM (#35002583)
How could you ever interview anywhere if you couldn't provide details of the projects that you worked on?
Can you work in a paired setting?
That doesn't seem unreasonable in any way shape or form.

If they're capable of launching the platform in every language, they're capable of moderating it in every language.

Re:Scikit-Learn Version 1.0 on Tuesday September 14, 2021 @10:44AM (#28525609)
Numpy has a better api than pandas if we're strictly talking about vectors and arrays.

Pandas indexing makes sense once you get it, but it does seem to require a lot more words than equivalent statements in R.

My primary language is python, but I have been picking up some R.

I wonder if they use movies and tv; recordings where the script is already available.
Re:Apple CEO Impressed by Remote Work, Sees Permanent Changes on Tuesday September 22, 2020 @11:36AM (#24555726)
I don't know. This sort of thing happens during in-person meetings too, to an extant. Then again, all of my calls are in the same geographic area.
Why isn't that believable?
