News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Well yeah, it's because canadian "founders" have a ripe reputation of working in the U.S. while on visitor visas...
Thanks for weaponizing H1b against the american people. Given the number of layoffs in tech the notion that we need an additional allotment of 125k h1bs in 2026 is criminal.

This is disgusting and even as someone who voted for kamala and supports bernie. Degrading the american middle class and american tech workers who actually pay into the social security system shouldn't be undermined by attorneys and those who seek to profit in ways your firm does.

Optane was incredible. It's insane that Intel dropped this.
This is awesome!
Even in college they always seemed like a waste of time. Cool to meet new people, but to "build" something and win was always a fools errand.

This was further enforced when I drove up to attend Hack the North at U Waterloo with a few friends from Boston. One of the contestants stayed up so late he tore a muscle in his eye and now has a permanent deformity / disability.

As an adult I'd simply never even show up to such an event, if my employer wants to pay me overtime sure - but I'd still say no.

Build cool things, get normal amounts of sleep. It's not about the clout its about improving as an engineer.

I genuinely think most people don't see identifying whether an image is AI generated or not, especially with a dedicated app, as a problem they're willing to pay to solve.

App looks cool, but I think more of the issue with growths is few people needing the app altogether.

This is awesome, curious if you'd be open to an interview about your work on my youtube channel?
Would be cool just to see the code written to do this!
I actually fully agree with this.

Don't remove the rights of normal folks not breaking the law because a few people have zero sense or respect for the safety of others.

Both sides of the isle could learn a lot from this kind of thinking...

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025) on Tuesday April 29, 2025 @02:12PM (#43836075)

Re:GPU Price Tracker on Sunday April 27, 2025 @01:35PM (#43813666)
Any plans to make this available as an API / link to common purchase links for each to back the "live" pricing data?
Memgraph is laughably expensive - I honestly wonder what anyone actually uses it for outside of companies that just don't care about infra spend.

Just create a project spec that can't screw you but adds plenty of easy consulting hours.

Sounds like a win-win.
