And you can switch out the original trackpad for a glass one, which is much nicer.
> Disney+ provides some plans for watching movies and series without commercial interruption – Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium. However, those tiers may include ... ads/promos before or after playback of content ...

This implies that "Disney+ Standard With Ads" DOES have ad breaks. The other plans could force you to watch ads before your movie starts.

Re:Inverse Parentheses on Monday December 22, 2025 @05:49AM (#46353064)
If we actually (as the title seems to imply) invert the parentheses, then for your example we get 1+2)*(3 .

Now all you need are the opening and closing parentheses at the start and end, and we're back to normal.

Episerver bought Optimizely and then took the name.
I think you mean Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud, _reportedly_ split over a dispute about selling cigarettes. Lidl is not related.
I'm more surprised when I encounter one that isn't hostile like this.

They don't even get basic details right. The ship in the 8th video changes with every camera change and birds appear out of nowhere.

When it shows you a hunk that's bigger than you like, you can use 's' to split it into smaller hunks.

A bit of a nitpick, but if I change a file, "git add" it, and then change it again, both of these statements are false.

The car and the bike in the first photo ( http://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/25582867/ai... ) look about as realistic as the average AI-generated human hand.
Re:Ask HN: Should we bring software dev in-house? on Friday August 09, 2024 @08:12AM (#41201058)
I would start by defining an MVP. What do you really need to support operations, and what can wait until later? If it can be done by hand for a while, don't put it in the MVP. If you can manage with Excel for a few months, don't put it in the MVP. That should give you insight into how big of a project you are looking at. The bigger the project, the greater the chance it's not going to go well.

EDIFACT is a bit of a mess, but not that scary. IME the details of logistics are more complex.

If you are in Europe there are a lot of people in software development in non-glamorous industries. I see more risk in judging tech talent. How do you know if you're talking to the right people?

Something seems to be off with the grouping. If you look at Chinon (France) there are 2 different statuses, but 3 groups. A1 is not grouped with A2 and A3.

The TdF is apparently the 2nd most watched sporting event in the world, with 3.5 billion viewers. That's not very niche.

It should work the same in The Netherlands, but when my city had semi-technical problems with registering me at my new address, they weren't exactly forthcoming with this option.
An alternative would be to print IDs using https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FE-Schrift, which was specifically designed to make normally similar characters to look different.
Sometimes it's the other way around. I saved a Cromemco Z2D from the trash when the company where my father worked cleaned out their basement prior to moving to a different building.

Given that we're talking about the US, this:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/CFR...

- Keep Firefox alive as an alternative to Chrome. It doesn't feel like Mozilla is achieving that.

This has been on my mind for a long time. It would be good for everyone to have a real alternative to Chrome and it would be good for Europe to be less dependent on the US, as you mentioned.

In time, it might be possible to fund this off donations, but a bit of EU funding would go a long way to getting this off the ground. Unfortunately, the workings of EU funding programmes are a mystery to me.

Re:Dutch storm surge barrier closes automatically on Saturday December 23, 2023 @08:37AM (#38744139)
Two nitpicks:

- It was completed in 1997.

- It automatically closed in 2018, but the algorithm was adjusted to close at a lower water level, specifically to enforce a closing under storm conditions.

source: https://www.rijkswaterstaat.nl/water/waterbeheer/bescherming...

(that is the Dutch agency responsible for the barrier)

Re:Ask HN: How can we help Firefox not to dissapear? on Tuesday October 31, 2023 @10:45AM (#38085653)

There are more than 18K open bugs in Bugzilla for Firefox. That's far from flawless for everyone.

That was 30 years ago, though. Things have probably diverged quite a bit.

Same for the 5-series, the Passat, and others mentioned. Those are available as wagons in Europe and still seem to sell well, based on what I see on the roads.
Re:What happened in this GPT-3 conversation? on Tuesday August 08, 2023 @05:56PM (#37055980)
That site reads like it's generated from a search query. It has multiple, wildly different answers:

> In general, you will need to use about 100g of sunflower seeds to make 1 litre of oil.

> It takes around 170,000 sunflower seeds to make one litre of oil.

I asked it "How do you reverse a string?"

> To reverse a string, I use the built-in "reverse" function in Python. It takes a string as input and returns the string with all the characters in reverse order. For example, the input string "hello" would become "lohel" when reversed.

We're not quite there yet.

Using that interpretation of the definition, you could argue that walking through knee-deep water is swimming.
