Ethereum set aside tons of eth to fund development in the premine. I wonder if they are broke, greedy, dumb, or what.

Just use bigquery.
Just use bigquery. The last thing I want these days is to manage a cluster. Next to last thing I want is to worry about the zillion tuneables on hadoop/spark.

No.

For Spark/etc I only care about throughput. It can stall all it wants. Exception (possibly) being spark streaming.
Re:Norman layout: less effort than QWERTY on Wednesday December 14, 2016 @04:32PM (#13179849)
Even sidestepping the 46% less "For Whom" : Qwerty/dvorak/whatever .. No one is really worried about cranking out Words per minute anymore. Nor is it going to significantly change RSI injuries where one wasn't already going to happen.

Way to go Cambec!
If Netflix had sold, I doubt that today the service would be nearly as good. There would probably be a better competing service.
Re:Trill Moves Big Data Faster, by Orders of Magnitude on Tuesday January 27, 2015 @11:34PM (#8958123)
Something orders of magnitude faster than anything else that I can't use or see the source to.... Yawn!
Re:Let the Other 95% of Great Programmers In on Friday December 26, 2014 @02:26PM (#8799935)
I see PG's resume, but I seriously wonder how many programmers he's interviewed, hired, managed, and fired in the last 5 years. How often has he thought about what to pay his engineers in relation to their output and others in the group. How much experience does he personally have with offshoring? I bet not that much actually.

Numbers look a little low to me.

Re:Introducing Swift on Monday June 02, 2014 @05:23PM (#7836508)
Yeah.. Because Scala doesn't have a metric ton of problems. AVOID!
I hope this works out for the guy, but can't help feeling it is going to be a mistake.
Re:Google to Acquire Nest on Monday January 13, 2014 @05:25PM (#7053945)
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Besides the fact that Nest is a great product (But so are Triscuits), why would Google buy them? The Nest _does_ know when you are home. If Google starts to use Nest data to target adds at me, I'm going to rip it out, set it on fire, and mail it to Larry.

HBase: Just don't.

Mysql has Transactional DDL?
Re:MongoDB Zero Day Exploit on Monday March 25, 2013 @08:33PM (#5440652)
MongoDB, has 3 black eyes in as many weeks. Not that I'm surprised that in addition to corrupting data, AND wasting resources it also is a endless security hole...
Re:MongoDB 2.4 Critical Advisory on Friday March 22, 2013 @07:58PM (#5426581)
Sorry I was thinking of MangoDb https://github.com/dcramer/mangodb
Re:MongoDB 2.4 Critical Advisory on Friday March 22, 2013 @06:23PM (#5426166)
Here we go again... Is this a Critical Advisory? Sounds like Mongo is working exactly as expected to me.
Re:Newsblur runs into MongoDB bug – can't replicate DB on Thursday March 21, 2013 @05:09PM (#5419022)
Just going to get on the hater train here. (not any poster in particular but Mongo in general). The day Postgres releases an upgrade, I expect, and get 100% functionality. So the fact that this is "Just Released" is FAR from an excuse, in fact it shows EXACTLY why you shouldn't use Mongo. Also a 100GB DB, with 300 connections and several MB per second.. Seriously. WTF is wrong with you people? Multiply by 10, and you can still do that on 1 machine.
