Re:Ask HN: Notes, mind-maps, browser tabs all in one solution? on Saturday February 05, 2022 @08:05PM (#30228189)
I use below frequently, all free.

Markdown notes: StackEdit https://stackedit.io

mind-maps in ASCII: ASCIIFlow https://asciiflow.com

hand-drawings: Witeboard https://witeboard.com/

Let them stay on your browser's toolbar in case you need them.

If you think your new Firefox's vertical spacing is way too large, here is the fix. https://github.com/black7375/Firefox-UI-Fix

Source: firefox 91 - how do you fix this ridiculously large vertical spacing (esp for bookmarks?) https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/p2yuzx/firefox_91_...

It's fake from a video shot in Cagliari https://redd.it/fl1k4a

Alternative to pinup.com I think.
Re:Windy.com – lots of meteorological data presented well on Tuesday December 24, 2019 @03:15PM (#21874607)
I do compare the site below, enjoy.

https://www.ventusky.com/

And make sure you disable browser's configuration on its fingerprint resist feature cause it will damage site's animation, both on windy or ventusky.

Re:Lsd: The next gen ls command on Wednesday May 22, 2019 @03:45AM (#19978837)
I use below sometimes. Hope you guys like these.

A modern replacement for ls, written in Rust. https://the.exa.website/

ls with coloring and icons https://github.com/Electrux/ls_extended

Don't worried. Let them choose what to play with. They will learn faster than you, I promise.

Off-topic: I'm kinda worried our kids might not know or use pens correctly if we keep pushing keyboard use.

Re:DuckDuckGo will use Apple Maps on Tuesday January 15, 2019 @02:07PM (#18913890)
Caution: DuckDuckGo's Apple Maps might kill your macOS's default map (show completely blank map) if your app has non-English language setting. If so, open your active monitor and search "geod", kill it and run map app again. It can return your apple map app back to normal state.

Try this if you need U2F. Krypton - A software-based U2F Authenticator (Yubikey) on your phone. https://krypt.co/
1. Both Pinboard and Pocket as my main bookmarklet storage. They're just storage but not necessary to read them all.

2. Instapaper and emailthis as my "to read" tools. Instapaper is very nice for article readability (better than pocket) and emailthis as article storage, or sometimes needs to send out to friends or colleagues.

3. Zotero as main research or pdf keeper.

4. I don't use Evernote now because I already bumped into their 100,000 limitation three years ago.

5. Please remember to use "star" or "Love" to pin your important bookmarks. It'll help someday.

Kevin Mitnick said that too.

So it's basically an iPad in the back. Can it play TV?
Re:Installing Fonts Using Homebrew on Wednesday April 25, 2018 @04:35PM (#16925836)
Yep, and below line will help you a lot.

$brew update && brew upgrade && brew cu -ayq

Re:Installing Fonts Using Homebrew on Wednesday April 25, 2018 @10:20AM (#16921723)
The best way to me is just clone https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts and look into the `pateched-fonts` folder, see what font you might like and do `./install.sh <font name>`. That's it.

Sorry for Off-Topic posts above. I just want a simple way to do meditation and can't wait to build a cabin. Same purpose, different approach I think.

Re:Input Mono – A Typeface for Code, from Font Bureau on Saturday April 01, 2017 @08:08AM (#14011741)
Awesome indeed. But oh-my-git is shipped with 3 themes only. So I just stick with their themes. Other methods are way too complicate to fix font issues. All I want is just a font that can be imported into font book or fontforge and let my iTerm2/Terminal to use. That's all.
Re:Input Mono – A Typeface for Code, from Font Bureau on Saturday April 01, 2017 @06:16AM (#14011440)
After I tried so many coder friendly fonts (nerd fonts and others). I only use patched font from https://github.com/gabrielelana/awesome-terminal-fonts/tree/... because it's the only fonts that can do oh-my-git style https://github.com/arialdomartini/oh-my-git

If you need other code fonts except using oh-my-git, you can take a look at nerd fonts https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts
