Re:How Tabasco Became the World's Hot Sauce on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:12PM (#50090005)
Sometimes Tobasco is exactly what you need! A baked potato with chives, cheddar, and sour cream is really elevated with some Tabasco splashes.

"Lost Worlds" - by Patrick Wyman, fascinating prehistory about meso and neolithic 'civilizations', their lives, their rises and downfalls. Really amazing stuff

Is it? What's the statement?
Noticing that the waist circumference on average went down on the peppermint group (85.17 -> 84.61) while the placebo group it went up (88.33 -> 88.65)? Also the resting heart rate dropped for the peppermint group. My initial suspicion is that the peppermint group coincidentally was also the 'got in better shape' group. Maybe the peppermint helped, but for relatively small groups that also seem to be improving waist circumference and heart rates likely due to good diet and exercise, I'm not convinced the peppermint did jack shit. More investigation needed! Would be awesome if it helped though!
They're the company that builds laptops people still use 5-10 years later. If anything they've set the standard for long lifespans when it comes to tech devices.
Re:It's a shame what's happened to radio on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @03:27PM (#49012134)
There's many stations that still do it just like the good old days. KEXP in Seattle is on my dial most of the time. I text the DJs most days to say thanks for the great show!

I love radio more than ever now thanks to KEXP and KCSM!

tl; dr the first 4 sentences: Ultra-processed foods, obesity, microbial toxins and agricultural chemicals were all considered. But a clear answer remained elusive.

Re:Are LLMs not getting better? on Thursday March 12, 2026 @08:32AM (#47349693)
I don't think it's true, but am I alone in wishing it was? My world is disrupted somewhat but so far I don't think we have a thing that upends our way of life completely yet. If it stayed exactly this good I'd be pretty content.

Shoutout to motorcycles! I share a car with my wife, but last year finally got a motorcycle. It's such a joy to have a manual transmission vehicle again, and on a bike you really form a relationship with the power response and physics of the machine.
Re:The Godfather almost never happened on Tuesday March 15, 2022 @06:42PM (#30692902)
The movie is a Coppola masterpiece. The book feels much more like a Quentin Tarantino. Definitely a fun read.

Re:How to Love Animals in a Human-Shaped World on Friday July 02, 2021 @04:25PM (#27716446)
Hardly bizarre, _most_ of the comforts we enjoy are subsidized with extensive human exploitation. I think it's completely consistent with the rest of our habits.
Awesome work!
