"Not like Microsoft respects..." : birds of a feather. google is no different, ask Schlüter and Müller. or ask the winklevoss twins about the facebook. goodwill is a secondhand store.

Re:Zenefits (YC W13) Just Raised $500M at a $4.5B Valuation on Wednesday May 06, 2015 @11:23AM (#9499326)
a couple? also look up seabury smith. Here is a list of their subsidiaries. http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/62709/000119312511047... You can't tell me zenefits justifies a 4 billion dollar valuation for what they are doing.

I think there are some big players who do daily if not weekly releases. I worked for one. It is all tenant shared and they push client specific changes on a regular basis.

I do not see it. I worked forMarsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. It has been around for years, has billions in revenue, and owns Mercer HR Services with customers like Toyota Motor Corp., Halliburton, American Airlines and many many others. They have a platform, SASS model, and nothing much different that what zenefits is doing. Even in the mid market they are extremely competitive. I do not see this is worth 4.5 billion dollars.

I enjoy my sitting time and make up for it with a regular exercise regimen and lots of after work activities. At one big corp. I have been at, it was like a competition to see who could stand the longest and who appeared the most health conscious.
Re:Started a stupid company. Failed. on Wednesday November 27, 2013 @10:23AM (#6808490)
I can assure you that what you are experiencing is not out of the ordinary. Everyone has their struggles. My wife was pregnant with our third child while I was unemployed for 8 months. I encourage you to love that family and be a great husband and father. No business success can outshine what you have.

Re:Web Development: A Crazy World on Tuesday February 12, 2013 @12:56PM (#5208298)
To quote Jamie Zawinski: "At the end of the day, ship the fucking thing! It’s great to rewrite your code and make it cleaner and by the third time it’ll actually be pretty. But that’s not the point—you’re not here to write code; you’re here to ship products."
Re:Web Development: A Crazy World on Tuesday February 12, 2013 @09:36AM (#5207023)
"you'll never get your project done" This, it is about shipping product in the end. You will have a hard time selling an incomplete project. You are solving problems for customers.

Have you ever worked outside of a start up with engineers at a fortune 500 company? Excel is crack for engineers.
Re:Say no to new clients: “For that reason, I’m out.” on Saturday February 09, 2013 @07:49AM (#5192425)
It is usually my luck that I get approached by big vision sales types doing a project that requires some niche of what I do well. It is the distraction of the additional project that degrades the quality my work. Have to say no.
Re:Woz On What’s Wrong With Kutcher’s Steve Jobs Movie on Friday January 25, 2013 @11:22AM (#5116127)
Woz getting it straight. He was there.
I use classic shell with win8. It gives me everything I was use to and I can boot to desktop mode. I think they will bring back some of what they took out in order to cater to businesses. They know businesses will not touch win8 as is and need to reincorporate what was removed during the refactor of win8. There is still support for god mode as well
Re:HP said to dump Microsoft ARM tablets over Surface on Friday June 29, 2012 @10:52AM (#4176875)

Re:Poll: How long have you been programming? on Monday April 02, 2012 @11:00AM (#3788417)
I found a newspaper clipping recently while going through my dads estate which announced he was teaching a new class at the local college in IBM Assembler in 1967, the year I was born. He introduced me to computing in the 80s. I miss him.
Re:DuckDuckGo is blowing up on Thursday March 29, 2012 @12:33PM (#3771794)
Glad to hear. Been using it more of late.
It would make a great screenplay for a tragic comedy (with a happy ending of course).
Great read. I feel for the guy. It was a foolish decision, but I sympathize with his continued struggles and wish he and his family all the best.
