Re:Atlassian gets IPO share price of $27 on Thursday December 10, 2015 @04:17PM (#10713532)
I like Atlassian and we use JIRA, Confluence and Stash.

Do I think Atlassian is worth $6bn? No. I planned to buy ~100k in stock at the open, saw the $27 open price, and cancelled my trade.

Is this a nice result for the founders? Yes. :)

Starting price on IPO day means little. It was flat the entire day. The way to judge these is in a couple of weeks (2-3 weeks) to see where the market really values it. See RACE for an example. That had a stronger IPO day "pop" and... here we are. :)

Yes, but what's the point of existing?

Sell the investments, return money to all shareholders. Bye bye Yahoo.

What are they without the "internet business"?
It's still unfortunate because this easily the best product in the market. They cared deeply about the experience...

Vdio was a terrible decision though.

Er, to get you a 457 your employer has to prove private medical coverage, so...

The best schools in Sydney are the public schools... Went to one of the best public high schools in Sydney. My parents paid $400. At least you're not paying $20k USD/year in SF.

Your comments re tax can be applied to any country in the world (citizens vs residents/temporary residents). The US even has an exit tax on Green Card holders.

You can apply for a withholding exemption.

No it isn't.
Re:Munchery Valued at About $300M Amid Food Fight on Saturday May 23, 2015 @08:18PM (#9594891)
Munchery has gone downhill in the last 3 or so months.

Prices are up, food quality, variety and portions are down.

If someone from Munchery is reading this: get your st together, please. I don't mind paying more, but QA on the food needs a lot of improvement.

No.

I moved here. It's terrible. Leaving soon.

Re:Instacart Is Raising North of $100M at a $2B Valuation on Friday December 05, 2014 @10:23PM (#8708235)
Please make the credit card MCC thing a priority.

I know Stripe doesn't expose this (yet), but Braintree does.

I agree with everything you've said here, and use Instacart weekly.

One thing: in the case of Whole Foods, the chicken breasts in the butcher window are exactly the same as the ones in the shrink-wrap. They just take them out and put them in the window.

The ones in the shrink-wrap are actually more hygienic. :)

You're going to pay 50% in tax. No way around that.

$2M in Sydney doesn't go that far these days, but if you want hassle free investment, put it into Vanguard.

Otherwise just throw it into a high interest savings account for zero risk.

Dual income. Very little left over.
Re:The Making of OnMetal on Monday August 18, 2014 @02:23AM (#8191601)
So that most of our hot data fits in RAM? I would expect the type of machine you guys are selling to come with 256Gb standard, to be honest (and the cost of another 128Gb of RAM is negligible -- I'd pay a couple more $ per day or whatever for it).
Re:The Making of OnMetal on Wednesday August 06, 2014 @09:21PM (#8145826)
Can you guys do a DB machine type with more RAM? 128Gb isn't enough. :)
