Bleeding edge was like the third or fourth Pynchon book I read and it isn't the most Pynchony of his books but its my favorite. The setting, the protagonist, the general vibe of late 90s tech is so good. Though some of the hackerspeak has aged a little cringy. Its a very fun read that I'll go back to when I need a pick me up.

This is a really interesting series of articles, I'm curious how she will tie these strands together. I'm a big fan of long digressions filled with quotes whose common misattributions are corrected and given more than the usual snippet to offer a full context. She's set up some very compelling strains about what has made apple successful and also maybe a bad place to work. Wherever she takes these essays, my main takeaway is that Steve Jobs would have been a terrible man to work for.

I think the tesla analogy is flawed. People want to get between places and the most current methods of transportation emit co2. So, a tesla driver, depending on how the local grid where they charged it is built, will likely emit less co2 getting around than someone driving a combustion powered car. The owner of an electric vehicle is going to want to go places regardless what kind of car they have.
What is the added value that cryptocurrencies have over traditional currencies/speculative investments?
Or what does it mean to 'do cryptocurrencies well'? What is it that we want to do? Their are other mechanisms to invest or to exchange value why are we using all these resources to create 'value' in this way?

While I disagreed with the author's reaction to Mozilla's apology and what seems to be their good faith response to criticism, her argument against crypto on moral grounds changed my thinking about cryptocurrencies. It was the first time I'd heard such a strong argument against cryptocurrency on moral grounds that it is a waste of resources. I've heard some strong arguments for how in some places it may be subsidizing the developement of renewable energy production by buying up electricity at surge times, and that many crypto currencies are moving towards less energy intensive methods. Still, it seems that on the whole the constant use of resources to produce evidence that one has used resources as a proxy for storing value is absurd and wasteful.

I often use that approach but (especially when you're importing from a seperate package) the compiler will sometimes view MyType as just an alias for string and won't catch typos.
Am I missing something in how to use this?

All my browsers (firefox, chrome and safair) on mac have this behavior at least. Do none of the windows browsers have the feature?

fnm was a game changer for me, it is significantly quicker than nvm.
It was mentioned in the article but swc as an alternative typescript compiler has really sped up builds.
