Couldn't "indirectly as a practical matter" be interpreted as what this project is attempting to challenge?

What is your issue with OnShape that prompted you to undertake this project? Is it because it's not open source?
Re:ActivityPub over ATProto on Friday July 10, 2026 @11:26AM (#48861259)
I don't disagree with the sentiment as I love RSS, but doesn't it have a different use case than ActivityPub or ATProto?

Don't leave us hanging! Did you get a level built?!

Agreed, I'd really like a shuffle button
Re:Now AI agents need what RSS does on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @01:08PM (#48386675)
I had a similar issue where I wanted to read a newly-followed blog from the beginning instead of the point in time when I started to follow, so I created https://refeed.to/
It depends on how you want to use your notes. If you're looking for a way to store information for later retrieval then what you described will probably work great. Zettelkasten is more about discovering connections between ideas that were not immediately obvious, and creating and discovering new ideas as you work with your notes.
I'd imagine there would be different morale implications between these two situations
If you allowed me to import an OPML file to get a sense for how this would work for my feed I'd check it out, but requiring a login before I can do anything real is kind of a non-starter.

You seem to be lumping conservatives and libertarians into the same group, but I think that's a mistake. I agree with your description as it pertains to libertarians, but conservatives tend to recognize as Christians who recognize certain deficiencies of humans and look to a higher power as a source of rule and law.
Re:Japan joining growing global trend of declining democracy on Saturday January 03, 2026 @11:50AM (#46478775)
I think a lot of this comes down to feelings if insecurity and fear. It's much easier to vote for values over greed when you feel you have all of your needs met. But I think globalization expanded and highlighted the wealth disparity throughout the world, and seeing people that have vastly more than you can make you feel vulnerable. The vulnerability slides into fear and anger, and then you're more willing to vote for the strongman with questionable morals who's promising to do something to allay your fears, even if it's at the cost of the democracy.

I'm assuming it's because both are presumed to have used steroids, which is the reason that neither are in the hall of fame.

I've found compassion, and especially self- compassion in such cases, to be a particularly useful thing to work towards and develop that is not tied to religion,

I've been using Superfluent to help learn Spanish and have found it helpful.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025) on Monday May 26, 2025 @08:54AM (#44097018)
I'm also not a fan of email newsletters, and the reading interface of scrollz looks nice, but I'm not understanding how scrollz actually fit into the reading workflow. How do the newsletters in my inbox get opened for reading in scrollz?
I'm not a big fan of reading interviews, so I preferred reading the linked article that was referenced from April 13:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2025/apr/...

Interesting read. The main paragraph regarding mission success is probably this:

> So far, there's no effect on the Psyche spacecraft's trajectory. Psyche's plasma thrusters can remain unpowered until at least mid-June before the spacecraft would begin to drift off course, according to NASA. Mission managers decided to keep Psyche's engines turned off until they better understand the pressure decrease. If engineers trace the problem to the fuel line itself, NASA has the option of switching to a backup fuel line to resume thrusting.

Can you expand on what you mean with this comment? Even if it's joke, I don't understand what's being implied.
Could you expand on this? How are they night and day?
For someone only tangentially following along, what is the obvious alternative?

"So, after Rome's all yours you just give it back to the people? Tell me why."
> Look no further than bewCloud – an innovative, open-source cloud solution crafted with TypeScript and Deno, using Fresh.

This looks interesting and is a space in which I'm definitely interested, but if you're targeting simplicity, I didn't think focusing on the programming tools is the right way to pitch your product.

Re:Show HN: I made a service to convert WordPress blogs to Hugo on Wednesday January 22, 2025 @01:07PM (#42795739)
I may be wrong here, but I understood Hugo sites to be static sites, therefore not supporting comments, for example. How does your tool handle migrating a WordPress side with comments to a Hugo site?
I do the same. I do it because I subscribe to sites other than HN, and by subscribing to the HN feed I can get the articles from HN as well as the other sites I subscribe to all in the same place, ie my feed reader (also using Feedly). Nothing overly original here as I assume personal content aggregation was one of the original intentions of RSS.
I'd really like to see something brighter than 500 nits in a "good screen"
"$10 to 15 million over the next three years" seems like a shockingly low amount of money to do anything significant.

I love the dedication to something you began way back in 2012. Looks cool!
