At best, this tells you v4.1 flash is profitable, but can they really get $38 per gpu hour? Sounds like a lot.

yes, and no. Probably both. Docker would not become such a default standard if it wasnt for all the open sourcing.

As a backend developer, I am hopelessly grateful for docker and containerization in general. The old days with stateful application servers were AWFUL.

If going away from jpeg will 20x our hosting costs, it will be difficult to ever switch from jpeg.

Not really. It would be very simple for one of these parties to just not use symbols of old hate, or avoid spending hundreds of millions of dollars to remove crucial aid for millions of people. These are active choices. Glossing over these choices is not helpful to anyone.

the main thing with jpeg is adding 10bit would be a breaking change anyway, and storage space on phones gets you 30-40% more photos on the same storage if you change formats.

1. How long does size, encode time and resize take compared to good old jpeg?
2. Is it possible to encode AVIF with hardware acceleration?

As an aside: I tried using claude to write GTK4 applications in december 2025/january 2026 and it was awful at it, barely even helpful. Then in September it's writing great gtk4 apps with barely any prompting.

Conspiracy people are like "nono, the government is lying to you", but really it was the corporations that make money all along.
Slack is a very bad that is super slow no matter what time of day I use it. It completely locks up on a spotty network. Discord works way better and their voice chat is several leagues above.
really need the simple voice chat for me to use it.

I recently tried out some of my old dvds, and i have to admit I cant stand the quality of it on even my 27'' monitor, much less my 65'' tv. I'm giving blu ray a try though, can get disks for as low as $1-$3 on the used market.
