Paul Buchheit predicted this in 2010 to happen in 2011.

Re:Jeff Bezos Responds to the Amazon NYT Article on Monday August 17, 2015 @04:22AM (#10071816)
It would be great if LinkedIn also responds to the NYT article with data on attrition rates at Amazon vis-a-vis other tech-companies. That would be irrefutable evidence.
I know this beats the very premise of your product - "personalized" guidance but thought I would ask anyway.

How open are you to sharing general guidelines (that are insightful and not already available everywhere) ?

It would also help if you could ask the people who are successfully placed to write their learnings along the process. Similar to how the Insight data engineering fellow and others at coding schools share what they learnt/built.

Re:Quora in the next YC batch on Saturday May 10, 2014 @08:49AM (#7725208)
Regarding the "Why join YC?", Adam has answered this on Quora:

here are a bunch of reasons why it's valuable for Quora to be a YC company: We'll have Sam and all the other partners to help us. We get to be part of the YC community / alumni network of founders. We get access to all the resources of YC.

We were raising money anyway, so there was no overhead in letting YC participate. And independent of the benefits to Quora, I think it will be fun personally to participate in some of the YC events. I hope my perspective can help some of the other companies.

Re:Ask HN: Starting at Google in a few weeks. Any tips? on Tuesday March 04, 2014 @04:06PM (#7343136)
There is plenty of good advice on this question from ex-Googlers at Quora - What advice would you give to someone who just graduated and is about to join Google that you wish you had when you joined Google? - http://qr.ae/t3Ac8 (does not require login)
Re:Introducing Google Helpouts on Tuesday November 05, 2013 @04:07AM (#6674061)
My take on this is that Google is using Helpouts to figure out - what are the queries people cannot use Google for.
Source, Dustin Moskovitz: 1-3 were accounts used to test registration. Evidently it only took Mark 3 tries to clear the bugs. Link: http://qr.ae/NMpX6 (Does not require login)
Thanks so much for posting this. This is the most inspiring "show HN" I've seen here.
Re:Show HN: HN Store on Wednesday April 03, 2013 @04:32PM (#5488853)
If it is OK, could you please describe at a high-level on the de-duplication involved in mapping the following 3 links to a single book - a) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=836633 b) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1527084 c) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1718951 because the amazon links contained in the HN comment links are all very different but still point to the same book - "Javascript: The Good Parts".
Re:Ask HN: SMS-enabling an app for a startup on Saturday August 04, 2012 @03:00PM (#4339309)
Have a look at txtweb.com - a free platform to build SMS apps. You can get started here: http://developer.txtweb.com/

Users can access your app by texting a keyword to txtweb's US number(s) mentioned here: http://www.txtweb.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&blogid...

Looks like the applicants can be non-american. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3377589
Great Work. Like the design and the intuitive design a lot.

One small grammatical error: On the companies page, you have "Founder this company". Perhaps, you could change it to "Founder"/"Founder of this company".

Re:My winter break project — Silk on Monday January 10, 2011 @11:03PM (#2090819)
Is there a way I could save the "silks" that I create?

If not, would you please consider implementing it?

Re:Why We Desperately Need a New (and Better) Google on Saturday January 01, 2011 @04:06PM (#2058442)
I am sorry; I do not understand how this is different from the "Similar" link that is placed beside the "Cached" link on Google's SERPs.

Could you please elaborate?

CleverBot is confused regarding it's gender.

Me: are you male?

Bot: Yes.

Me: or are you a female?

Bot: I'm a nice woman machine.

Re:What’s Next for Delicious? on Friday December 17, 2010 @11:48PM (#2018911)
I find it very odd that Delicious was not a "strategic fit" at Yahoo!

If I remember right, Yahoo was a bunch of links pointing people to webpages. How is that different from bookmarks?

Citation regarding the history of Yahoo:

Before long they were spending more time on their home-brewed lists of favorite links than on their doctoral dissertations.

Re:What We Look for in Founders on Friday October 22, 2010 @02:42PM (#1820901)
I thought my browser didn't load the complete article because I couldn't see your obligatory "thanks to X, Y and Z for reading this"...and I kept scrolling. Thanks for the great article, btw.
Re:CloudMagic Brings Fast Search-As-You-Type To Gmail on Saturday September 18, 2010 @07:04AM (#1704056)
You don't give your password to them...It's stored on your hard-drive (and so is the search index). They just didn't communicate that clearly. You can find a lot more information regarding Cloud Magic here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJjztU-TjcU&feature=playe...
