Re:Software Workers Union on Tuesday February 27, 2018 @12:01PM (#16475370)
Thought this link was relevant here due to a couple of things that are coming our way in the U.S: (1) upcoming Supreme Court ruling that may destroy public unions, and (2) the Koch's upcoming plan for national right to work law to destroy blue state private unions:

patio11's salary negotiation blog post is our Das Kapital.
Try in vain to prove to himself that his billions aren't just dumb luck and circumstance.
He's definitely somewhere in the uncanny valley.

Like fucking clockwork haha.

Jordan Peterson fans are the most tedious and pedantic logic nerds I've ever encountered. Reading his subreddit and his stans on Twitter you'd think his main teachings were (1) Argue dictionary definitions for hours, (2) Never respond to someone's central point, just pick out secondary or tertiary sentences and point out their logical fallacies, and (3) If all else fails, say "that's not an argument" with no explanation.
I think it's more that pre-reddit/twitter/facebook we all had separate online forums, chat rooms, etc and now it's all centralized to the same few sites.

For example before reddit we didn't have popular fascist subforums hosted on the same site as a liberal politics subforum, where people could cross-post and PM between them.

It's not like we can control the racism levels in other countries, so why does it matter?

However when you look at countries we materially support (in their carrying out of racist actions) like Israel, liberals do care very much. So it does seem like there's some consistency there.

From my reading of ToS it also apparently waives your right to be a part of a class action lawsuit against Equifax...

Re:Note to Google Employees from CEO Sundar Pichai on Tuesday August 08, 2017 @11:40AM (#14958966)
This whole thing to me is a great example of why the "Facts don't care about feels" crowd is so disingenuous. Supporters of the memo writer talk about how scientific and logical he was being, yet he draws lines that are not supported by science at all. We barely know what things contribute to success of software teams at all, let alone the implications of evopsych biotruths on them. And all this pseudo-scientific reaching is for the grand purpose of saying current employees who came to the company maybe from outreach programs shouldn't have been reached out to. Which, objectively and logically, is a dead-stupid thing to argue in an internal company-wide memo.

Agreed, I'm for the political party that just wants people to vote, regardless of which candidate they're voting for. That truly real party that we all know and love.
Re:Why Cutting Carbs Is So Tough on Thursday July 20, 2017 @11:51AM (#14813524)
Why not just remove all the carbs from your diet and exercise every once in a while instead of monitoring your crap (pork rinds, slim jims, bacon, etc) intake every day :P
