Did you actually check what your device is getting updates for, if they contain latest firmware, kernel, drivers etc or do you rely on recurring OTA appearing?
Also GrapheneOS can't be compared to other privacy/de-googled roms because none other are as deeply tied to the security/isolation/memory protection features shipping on pre-11 Pixels and 2027+ Motorola flagships.
What an elegant and blameless way to describe this. Appreciated.
Some will, some won't. I prefer some webapps to their native ones and vice versa. I used to run some proprietary apps that I replaced with open source ones, often clients interfacing with already self hosted stuff. I rarely touch Kagi anymore because my own hosted model + searxng drops results faster. I don't expect most of these apps to go away just because of agents/assistants alone.
Proprietary apps and services will probably go into protectionism and will shed users in doing so.
Custom launchers and widgets will likely be replaced by user instruction-driven processes at some point.
I mean, have you looked at Microsoft products since their inception? They still print money. Or Atlassian.
Looking at all the broken Duo folding screen issues I wouldn't count on it.
Huawei made a Fold laptop that seems to be running Linux already if you're into that.
Has been for a whole. Don't get a Pixel 11 though or wait for the new Motorola flagship.
1. And yet we have someone on HN reminding everyone to even have a backup in the first place so let's not assume everyone on HN can't also make "average people mistakes".
2. You mean the climate activists who used to risk their lives back in the 80s on open oceans instead of gluing themselves to streets? Yeah, the times have changed.
Must be quite comfy to live in such a simplistic reality. Imagine not having to think through all the complexity of life all the time by just crying fascism whenever people disagree with you.
Was envious for a second there. Then I was reminded that I quite enjoy thinking.
You seem prone to inferring intent based on very little information. I had no intention of policing you. All the best though.
I think my issue is that I don't know Rumble Studio and expected OBS to be able to stream to it without, thus expecting some rtmp links + auth flow in the docs.
I've been running Omarchy for about a year and I've never seen any indication of it attempting to steer me into some political direction. It never asked me to vote somewhere, attack or dislike anyone based on superficial criteria. It's just... a desktop distro that fits on how I like to work.
I probably disagree with many Omarchy developers and donators and I'd be quite surprised if that didn't also apply to most of its users.
I really don't see how this rhetoric is helping anyone. It just creates more division.
I've been working a lot on customization and upstreamed some patches and I have no idea what would count as poorly configured.
That you think it's all about UNIX guru LARP I have to question how many Omarchy users you actually engaged with because I've mostly met humble and friendly folks. YMMV.
Then I misread your comment. I'm not a native speaker, perhaps that caused it. Sorry for being rude.
I may be completely stupid but these instructions by Rumble either completely unhelpful or something on my end isn't loading content in that site. But if that's the actual instructions to get OBS to stream to Rumble, I get why just upstreaming it would've been user-friendly.
But apparently I'm a fascist for this type of wrongthink.
Is this sarcasm or are you really completely unaware of how ridiculous this statement is when it applies just as much to OBS' decision to restrict where their users can stream to?
That's not what he said. OBS decided to not support streaming to Rumble for political reasons. So Omarchy is gonna ship a leaner alternative soon-ish, that's all.
And I write that I have ADHD it's suddenly medical information?
From 2023 - is any of this still relevant?
This doesn't make sense. There's law enforcement and privately run databases you can check hashes of known material from.
The argument that producing this material caused harm always made sense but when it came to stories and loli anime drawings, it never made sense.
Back in the 2010s when Germany started censoring DNS with csam sites (of which 99% were false listings) I attended a protest and got to talk to a policeman who talked about the methods they use to catch producers by looking at background sounds, unique identifiers on both perpetrator and victim (tattoos, scars, etc), where light came from, where shadows landed, visible products in the background that might help triangulate possible locations or narrow down to country/city/etc.
I don't see why police wouldn't have to keep doing their job to get to hunt down predators.
Making generated content outright illegal doesn't align with my understanding of free speech.
Most western doctors I ever went to, especially those dependent on socialized healthcare, are nothing but pill pushers. They have a few minutes of time per patient so even if they wanted, they wouldn't be able to do more than some standard lab work.
My health has drastically improved since I stopped listening to doctors. Weird.
Ah, yeah, the old "doesn't want to join my cult, doesn't have fun" shtick.
If you think in terms of "evil", you don't know your history. I'm out.
Yeah, the war on terror was also fought on such grounds. It just cost most of the west a few Trillions of dollars and freedoms while having caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of dead muslims, crippled and mentally ill veterans and the "evil people" are still in charge 20 years later - only that it turned out they had nothing to do with what was used as a pretence for this war on terror.
You're just regurgitating the vocabulary fed to you by propaganda. Good luck though.
Imagine waking up and thinking: Today I want to fund a war out of my own pocket since my taxes being sent to the most corrupt country on the continent aren't enough.
Hermit life was the best decision I ever made. Never going back.
Once all the big players started rapidly adopting it, it felt like it wasn't a standard working in my interests. I've been dodging all these annoying "don't you wanna create a passkey" interruptions during sign-ins every time.
Never really cared enough to actually look deep into it to this was a good read. Appreciated.
So no more adults wearing red hats on conferences and meetups? Finally.

Sounds like a 90s early morning TV show.
I'm gonna pay attention to this once it ships.
> The elephant in the room
It's been 12 years and people are still making a fuss about a dude spending 8k(!) on politics some disagree with.
Incredible. I wish we'd hold other people in higher positions to such a standard.
I'd say around 2016. Sundar just became CEO, the new CFO started gutting projects and teams. Ads in search results were no longer easy to identify by being highlighted. Free fall since then. Total betrayal. Won't ever go back.
