Hi, I am interested in language learning, and your first sentence caught my attention. I am currently learning german, do you have a blog post on your journey of learning a language in 360 hours? around 45 days if 8 hours per day. How were you able to achieve so much with so little time?
I am still at the awkward early interaction stage.

How do you know what to say?, usually I can start the conversation but I don’t know where to take it after. How are you able to shift to the next stage when you have both agreed that the weather today is nice.

How do you get over the feeling that you are wasting their time?

Finally, how do you end the conversation when you're still going in the same direction or waiting at the same place?

I use this extension, but I am still always bombarded with the pop-ups, not sure if I set it up wrong or its not that useful.
Re:Show HN: I built a local-first daily planner for iOS on Tuesday November 04, 2025 @04:38PM (#45816185)
Irrelevant to this post, but Morocco switching to UTC does not change the number of hours fasted as that is based on sunset and sunrise so not really a religious "hack" but more similar to daylight saving (work hours remain same).
Re:How to Make a Living as a Writer on Saturday May 24, 2025 @05:04AM (#44079806)
I doubt the writer has any control over the website her piece is published on. It is a pretty good writeup, you should give it another try.
Re:European Cloud Computing Platforms on Monday March 10, 2025 @08:45AM (#43319997)
As far as I am aware Contabo has a pretty bad reputation and not a mixed reputation.
Re:All About Berlin: why I built it, how I run it on Saturday November 23, 2024 @11:28AM (#42221683)
Beautifully written! Are you still running it on Craft CMS, or has the tech stack changed?
Re:Reverse Engineering iOS 18 Inactivity Reboot on Monday November 18, 2024 @03:02AM (#42170626)
Maybe English is not their first language.
I think it has a lot to do with tiktok's rise to power, for the first time there is a platform that is not controlled by the west (Pro-Zionist), which would completely censor out news like Facebook and Instagram does.
Re:Please do not write below the line on Thursday October 24, 2024 @05:26PM (#41939965)
Reading their replies felt awfully similar to how LLMs get stuck in loops, repeating the same patterns over and over.
Re:Google's AI thinks I left a Gatorade bottle on the moon on Monday October 07, 2024 @03:21AM (#41763565)
For me the response was just:

```The young whale that visited Pillar Point Harbor in 2024 was named Teresa T.
It was a humpback whale that ventured into the harbor, likely by accident.```
How often and can you give some examples in recent history?
Why would government care about safety? They already have the former director of NSA, sitting member of the board.
If the app is not country compliant, France can just ask the app stores to remove it from their country apps selection.
But some countries want to have their cake and eat it too.
Re:Show HN: PDF7 on Tuesday July 16, 2024 @03:47PM (#40979650)
Is pdf7 completely free to use? I cannot seem to find the pricing page. Does it have an api?
Libraries are a good starting point for your idea, but they are already being defunded.
They aren't repainting Saddam's image; that's simply who he was during that period. While I acknowledge he was evil for a lot of his lifetime, it doesn't necessarily justify what USA later did to Iraq. The time period the author is talking about, Saddam was in fact not the perpetrator.
>America was wrong. Saddam was evil. They can both be true.
I disagree with this statement, especially when talking about the war, for above reasons.
America was wrong and evil.
Edit: Word, him - > Iraq
How can they even afford doing this?
Re:Oregon Decriminalized Hard Drugs on Tuesday August 01, 2023 @09:28PM (#36965788)
No, I don't think that assholes are a new phenomenon, and I agree that rude and entitled behavior has always existed. However, societal norms and expectations regarding how to handle such situations may have evolved over time. In the past, confrontation might have been more common.
Why not? Testing limits of engineering on our planet. Surely, some contribution was made to human knowledge by building/funding the wheel.
I think its pretty obvious they went with Instagram branding, as Facebook branding has been tarnished for a while.
Re:Threads, an Instagram App on Tuesday July 04, 2023 @07:57AM (#36585485)
No its not, Google kills projects before they even mature. META kills them when they are already dead.
Re:Threads, an Instagram App on Tuesday July 04, 2023 @07:54AM (#36585463)
Doesnt EU already have somewhat of a WeChat, everybody uses whatsapp there. Definitely Meta already won that market.
Re:Threads, an Instagram App on Tuesday July 04, 2023 @07:45AM (#36585389)
Instagram would get too bloated if they do that, but Reels + Instagram makes sense.
Re:55 GiB/s FizzBuzz (2021) on Monday July 03, 2023 @10:51AM (#36573730)
LLM cannot produce something that doesnt exist already, it will probably spit out the same code ais523 wrote.
are you part of the gigabrain team?
And then all these sites will start implementing LMO (language model optimized), and we will lose it all, once again.
It used to be like that until 2019 when iPadOS was introduced.
how many more satellites you want in space lol?
On a more serious note, I always wanted to start a waste management company for Earth's geosynchronous orbit. I am pretty sure tech in that sector is booming.
> FAANGMULA
Only somebody who does not work at FAANG uses FAANGMULA, so why not just go with MULA.
