Yeah I would like to see where that factoid comes from. Maybe it means they explore as many branches from the root position as an amateur, but they explore each branch way deeper and more accurately
Sadly the people behind ycombinator think helping this administration crush woke youth, and spying on us with flock cameras, is more important that preventing fascism or corporotocracy.
Neither you nor the author are saying how you were deceived.
I think neither of you are being genuine
Both just apologists for obvious scumbags
I a common monument is:
"I need to wash my car. The car wash is 100 meters away. Should I walk, or drive?"
The general public has heard of this, tried it on free tier AI, and uses it as an example of how dumb AI is.
Anthropics cheapest tier paid AI, on lowest effort, gets this right.
I also have near zero concerns about that, but I worry that we will wipe ourselves out by social and economic chaos caused by AI.
So I'd just ask everyone, don't get too greedy. Its better to be powerful in a world where people can live good lives than lord over a barren wasteland.
This was back on OPUS 5 but I asked it to look into some logs and see if the new version of our release had fixed the issues we had tried to fix. It told me that release wasn't up on dev yet.
"Claude, I released it myself, its up there, just analyze the logs"
"Ok, I'll analyze the logs but it isnt" -crunches for a while- "the issues aren't fixed, but that's because the new version isn't up there"
I think I yelled at it one more time about how I know what was released before "we" figured out that the last release had failed in a way our release system reported as success, but was crash looping on start up and so the old version was still around and working as back up.
Sorry claude.
Now fix that release status check.
They started with reels! Bikes came after.
There is no nerfing, look at the data before coming up with a theory as to why the nerfing that isn't even happening is happening.
fuck
No one here has suggested that the conspiracy theory is stupid (But I will, it is stupid), we are pointing out that the people actually measuring model performance have not found the nerfing before launch conspiracy to be true. in short, yall dumb, shut up.
This article kind of lost the plot after a little bit, it started descending into its own criticisms with flippant dismissals of climate change being a real concern, dismissal of people's motivations without evidence, assurances based on vague predictions that climate engineering will suddenly become viable.
Started to feel a little uncomfortable given the themes and the mention of pol pot at the beginning, almost like he is calling for more genocide of intellectuals so he can keep rolling coal or something.
3d printing metal has some strength downsides, I'm not sure what it is for the raptor engines, but I've heard other space companies claim ~5% less strength that traditional methods for aluminum structures, but that can be worth it in cases where you are able to make shapes that wouldn't be possible with traditional methods, or if you save enough money by printing it. Rocket engines often can benefit from intricate internal channels and shapes that you can 3d print as once piece with no way to do it via subtractive manufacturing.
There is a wide gulf between catastrophe and killing us all, and its not just that these people are weird, they seem to be complete clowns, tossing out % predictions about incalculable future states like spock in star trek. Total clown show.
While vacationing in Colorado I was approached by a young man and woman who wanted to tell me about Christianity, towards the end I told them that I do no view Christians in America as good people as group, and gave them various reasons why, the support of Trump being a main reason. Supporting someone so overtly evil while pretending to be righteous and godly was clearly contradictory to me, the whole situation caused me to view religious people not as misinformed but actively disingenuous (those smart enough to know better anyway). He snapped back with "OBAMA BOMBED A SCHOOL"
Which, at the time I thought, yes its bad that US presidents almost all are willing to do war when it isn't a good idea, but Obama isn't the president right now and I think you can expect Trump to bomb some schools too man.
and here we are.
As an side, fuck every single person here that supported or made excuses for the GOP in the last two decades, I will never forgive you.
The best proc gen experience I have had is with minecraft modpack called hexxit.
The world is procedural generated, but then there is a library of ~200+ hand built structures/features that are scattered throughout the generated terrain. So you wander through a forest and find a cave into a volcano full of diamongs but guarded by angry dwarves, then head over into the desert and find a castle with a witch king, etc etc
There are enough hand built things that you don't quickly start running into repeats, and they are just melded into the generated terrain.
If you believe the willingness of corporations to stand against rulers is the cornerstone of a civilized society, then there will be no civilized society. Corporations have bowed to fascism every time they have been put to the test, and they do it quickly and without much complaint. Every single time.
You, powerful people reading this on hackernews now, you are cowards, and failures of humanity.
Look at this guy making excuses for the Nazis
It is very easy to do the math on the aerodynamics, even at running speeds it isn't insignificant. It drives me crazy that many pro marathoners are in flappy clothes, or big hair cuts!
In a mile it could be between 1 and 7 tenths, depending on wind and and how bad the default outfit was.
And that may seem insignificant but its big margins at the elite level.
Because most humans don't really try, not limited to east africans.
The mile record has dropped due to equipment (tracks and shoes) and pacing innovation since the very first. And I repeat this all the time but nobody listens: modern shoes are fast because of the special foam and light weight, the carbon plates have very little to do with it, experiments have cut those plates in half and running economy remains unchanged. they likely provide important structural support for the thick foam, and carbon makes sense to use for that for weight reasons, on a budget plastic is fine.
> It will soon restore the heavy launch capability
Maybe!
>but in an affordable
Maaybe!
>and sustainable
Maaaaaaybe. Gotta start gigantic scale methane production from solar or whatever first.
We sometimes get in the habit of thinking Elon, who is a Nazi, accomplishes everything he sets out to do, since he was so incredibly effective at getting EVs going and getting the Falcon 9 going. But he has plenty of misses too, like ruining the foundations of democracy, being over 12 years late and counting with self driving cars, hyperloop, the cybertruck, etc.
I started programming at ~8 and as a kid you often are sure the compiler is wrong, and it never is. (maybe once, have a vague memory of it)
Then years later I started playing with Nim when it was still in beta, I think I found 3 compiler bugs in a few weeks! Reported them all, all got fixed!
And then a few years later found a bug in LLVM, doing weird stuff with Rust and SIMD intrinsics. Was difficult to even communicate what was going wrong but did get it reported and confirmed eventually!
Why do people reply with this "it was always american" response? Do you feel like it is necessary to protect RocketLab or something?
It was founded by a guy in new zealand with the first launch complex and first launches coming out of new zealand.
to characterize that as "always american" is so silly it makes you seem like a non serious person.
of course they would have had american resources and connections from the start.
Aside from the website being annoying, the story is horrific, a doctor speed running patient interactions with pre canned snippets. Disgusting.
A reminder that in a recent Paul Graham blog post, he vowed to help the 2nd Trump Admin crush woke youth, and asserted that racism isn't bad as the left thinks.
In the following weeks we saw Elon do two Nazi salutes in front of the presidential seal, and we saw the Trump admin hire tons of thugs to rip minority children out of their beds, and those same thugs have murdered a number of citizens, with Stephen Miller loudly shouting that they have absolute immunity.
I'm surprised Paul Graham and the signers of the blog post are not to embarrassed to continue posting their thoughts. At worst Paul should stop talking, better, he should apologize and admit he is a fool.
There isn't going to be a lot of improvement in overall EV performance/capability from better motors. Existing, boring motors are already close to 100% efficient, already small, and already powerful.
Advancements here chip away at margins, its nice but nothing to get super excited about. Whereas a modest ~20% increase in energy density from batteries would be amazing. Every little bit we improve there unlocks new capabilities. Towing long distances, smaller affordable economy cars and sports cars, airplanes, etc.
Probably.
When most people choose to time in AGAINST the idea of funding evil people, I think their arguments are disingenuous, they are just looking for a way to excuse their own behavior, which they know is bad. They don't want to give up the convenience of say, their nice Tesla that would like to own, and make excuses about why it is ok to enrich a nazi even further.
supply and demand as always
In countries where students perform better, they do the opposite of your plan. Resources are pumped into the failing schools to get them to do better.
You seem to be just arguing for even more privatization in American which is awful, the kids that are failing have parents that won't be paying for good education or setting up schools. They won't bother with it at all if it isn't public and required.
Nate was a huge outlier in that prediction, he gave trump a better chance than almost anyone else that I can recall, so why are you mad at him about that?
What made me mad is Nate seemed to turn into a MAGA troll himself after that election.
It did until oligarchs bought it.
