It's a massive risk, and only a matter of time. Especially for hardware that's no longer updated firmware wise.

I'm thinking of what to do myself.

The ghost of android releasing 6 month old patches every month is going to come home to roost.

Adjustable nose pads and spring loaded arms are priceless. So are hybrid metal/plastic frame that offer the best of both worlds.
Could it be because spending it internally means they can’t receive retail prices for the tokens?
Re:My Favourite Laptop on Monday November 02, 2026 @01:13PM (#50341048)
If that m1 today came out as a 12” retina MacBook (2lb) it would be the first Apple product I’d ever line up for.

Neo is way too bulky/heavy.

Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:12AM (#50337881)
The website could also link the post where it was found from and explore the conversation too.
Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:36PM (#50329550)
Tvs can themselves have their privacy improved by never connecting it to WIFI, except, maybe for software updates, if needed (rare).

The smarts you connect to the TV can vary.

Apple Ts manage things in some good ways.

NVidia Shields are good in others for Android TV.

The Android TV platform is likely more customizable (check youtube the past few weeks) to get it how you want.

Last, but not least, some poeple may just hook up a web browser to the TV and then contain that.

In a world where people trade time for money, they effectively collect time as money, and money can be used to buy back time through the correct conveniences if they choose to buy back the freedom in their time, first through high leverage low cost items, and then over time more.
Re:Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power on Sunday November 01, 2026 @02:32PM (#50328864)
He did have a very varied life story, but I'm sharing what I did because it's what he expressed about his entire life, especially in the most recent years.

Stories where characters bring forward their humanness (and not being perfect) can share a lot to learn from.
To become HackerAI, applying for YC.

My favourite part of Startup School is when people ask you what you're working on, and then their profile and application can change.

Re:Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power on Sunday November 01, 2026 @01:37PM (#50328343)
Patrick Stewart didn’t teach this.

A character he acted did.

Patrick Stewart on his deathbed referred being estranged from his children from always putting work before his kids in his own words.

Everything doesn’t have to be for everyone.

The reason why this product exists is for homes in places where there is no telephone or cable tv wiring to the house.

This is a massive part of the world and part of why the countries that didn’t have a wired setup in many cars jumped straight to wireless.

Re:Running a bootstrapped SaaS for 20 years with my brother on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:18AM (#50325937)
Only a tiny amount of people use ai this productively or know its possible
Re:Running a bootstrapped SaaS for 20 years with my brother on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:17AM (#50325928)
Yet some people still use them.

Why don’t you create an alternative?

Re:Running a bootstrapped SaaS for 20 years with my brother on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:16AM (#50325917)
Doubt worshipping finds ways to not find a way to make something happen. Just because one person can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
Re:Running a bootstrapped SaaS for 20 years with my brother on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:15AM (#50325910)
Time isn’t money, money is time.

Money that doesn’t need to be spent is freedom of time.

I recall seeing some that were offered in Asia but might not be elsewhere.

It looked like an office desk phone but instead of Ethernet, a SIM card goes only. Some came with a cordless handset with it too. seeing

I believe there are VOIP phones that are sim card based. Imagine a country that doesn't have land lines but folks want a home phone.
Probably for a while - lots of IoT uses it, especially with the push away from 3G.

I thought I had finished my sentence - the companies have different GTM, and maybe different trust/experience.

This site is a great flex in innovation over decades.
Re:OpenAI raises less than half of $30B target on Saturday October 31, 2026 @12:29PM (#50317591)
Claude may have captured a different mindshare of the past year who tried AI before and it didn't work.

The more people see AI is still just software (albeit a different kind), the more they will remember to instead start with where/how it works.

Re:OpenAI raises less than half of $30B target on Saturday October 31, 2026 @12:27PM (#50317574)
I agree with this.

ChatGPT and Claude are differently operating and behaving products in the same space.

One is a little better/ different at considering the web, and the other is a juggernaut at sentences and reading in between / connecting the lines.

I'm also pretty proud, first flagged post ever for saying the obvious that they're two different companies.

They have different approaches to the tools they're providing. That fits people differently.

Re:Pico CSS is no longer maintained on Friday October 30, 2026 @01:29PM (#50307254)
Standardization is valuable.
Re:Pico CSS is no longer maintained on Friday October 30, 2026 @01:29PM (#50307248)
Respectfully it's up to the maintainer who decides where they think it shoudl go.

After I read the same I thought, ok, that's what _they_ wanted to do.

Me? I'd love to see what could be rewritten to be 100% future proofed for as many years as possible. But see what that did? I have to share, and see if anyone else already thought of this (I doubt I'm the first ever to have this thought), and maybe, I'll be lucky enough to benefit from someone exploring it already, before I decide to put on a jedi robe and wave my hands to use the force to move AI around.

Re:Pico CSS is no longer maintained on Thursday October 29, 2026 @11:37PM (#50299605)
Pico is a great little library.

Thank you to the developer and maintainer

For what it’s worth I had to force Claude early in to use pico and not ever generate react or ornate tailwind.

Pico is extraordinary for standalone tools where ai can’t let complexity build out of control.

Maybe there’s other options but pico is what got it done, and vanilla LLMs has a hard time keeping something this simple and elegant and flexible.

Re:Google Search is now less than half of Alphabet’s revenue on Thursday October 29, 2026 @02:17PM (#50293556)
It may or may. not try to convince anything.

Often when we use a search engine, we're trying to piece together something that might be across multiple links, or a single link
