I don't know, but there are tons of "rust rewrite" of everything.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @05:03AM (#50301390)
You can say the same for many other industries:

I love the clipboard warning.

before that, facebook was stealing everything on your clipboard and send back to their server.

This dialog is what it take to stop them.

and it have the pattern detect you asked.

We were talking about early 2000s.

Perl 5 was the language of choice for CGI in that era, but PHP borrowed some of perl syntax and quickly displaced Perl in web usage.

Some perl programmers migrated to Embperl, but it didn't gain much momentum.

Re:Zero click, silent, remote Android DoS on Thursday October 29, 2026 @06:44AM (#50286996)
They triaged them - that's why it gets wontfix.

False negative? I honestly don't know what we can do about it. If this is a real issue, maybe another llm will rediscover it and it eventually will get triaged right?

Re:The case of the 9 bit AES key on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @06:43PM (#50281984)
just down vote it.

You can downvote anything not interesting.

If he have list some alternative or give example, it might be interesting.

Re:The case of the 9 bit AES key on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @06:39PM (#50281951)
That's why we use the system RNG !
Most of these work have real person to look and validate the cost. Doing that without account would be too little friction and overwhelm the team.
Re:Ghostty 1.4.0 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:58PM (#50268839)
Is it? I think zig use llvm codegen. Once you got llvm for your architecture, you get 99% of modern language
Re:Overgrown, when plants invade your abandoned tabs on Monday October 26, 2026 @12:31AM (#50239138)
It would cause more tabs to be open.

You can't use the old tab because all the plants. You open a new tab for the same page. Don't need to close any old tab for that.

It's the "PC-compatible" hardware make those affordable, not PC.

one click exploit is fun when you trying to jailbreak your phone; it is a nightmare when a random website do that
Re:Docker Is Weird on Thursday October 22, 2026 @10:12PM (#50203717)

Re:AI compute is the new oil–and needs a new market on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:17PM (#50203337)
infrastructure project big enough to affect qol in neighborhood: checked

corruption: checked

regulatory capture: in progress

Ya, the new oil.

Re:Docker Is Weird on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:08PM (#50203265)
Every statement in the article make me ask: "what's weird about it?"

Everything in that list feel natural when you know how things evolves over many years. Maybe it is just me getting older and less curious.

Did they remember what OpenAI did with Lean and Math Proofs?

OpenAI wrote some lean that pass the validate, write a math paper that feel plausible, but the paper don't match what's in lean.

Anthropic is now translating programs into Rocq proof. The same can happen.

Don't get me wrong -- this process can help catch some bug. but this is far from a proof

like most governance body, they check independent audit reports, not the actual operation.

This is a sample on what it looks like during covid lockdown : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1728790

https://railway.com/customers

tripadvisor and bilt, maybe?

It's pretty common to have "toy" infrastructure in a non-tech business

The problem with fines is that they don't actually disincentivize bad behaviour by decision makers.

Corporations don't make decisions, individuals do.

You could argue if we hit the business hard enough, the individual making those decisions maybe suffers from.. maybe... less bonus? but, well....

Re:There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @08:19PM (#50189440)
I guess the main takeaway is: we (humans? current methodology?) are bad at estimating how urgent a fix is or needs to be.
If I read the article correctly,

- This involve multiple variable, so it is never a simple PID loop

- They didn't use LLM for the feedback loop, they use the LLM to test and fine tune their program.

Re:Is 'Attention' the Essence of Intelligence? on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @01:27AM (#50082771)
Sure. but how far can we apply this logic?

--

A computer can't read a file, it is just sending electric signal, sensing the voltage, probing the magnetic field, etc.

"read" a file is anthropomorphized terms for what the machine do when processing a file.

--

Maybe we should just stop worrying and embrace the new meaning of those words?

Re:11 year old unsoundness bugs found in Rust borrow checker on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @09:46AM (#50071693)

Re:GLM-Legal: Advancing Agentic Legal Intelligence on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @06:22AM (#50069457)
I don't think it can expert in all jurisdictions and all area of law.

There are lots County or state specific law. Some case law in different state can be referenced for some legal principle, even if the same law does not exist your etc.

It have to be a full harness, not just a modal.

yes. that's why many number crunching app ships / vendors their own math library
Re:Fingerprints Are the New Cookies on Monday October 12, 2026 @12:21AM (#50051346)
IMO, data brokering is what should be illegal, not the cookie .
Re:Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them on Monday October 12, 2026 @12:06AM (#50051269)
Passkey, as currently implemented, is not something I wish to use.

I have sign up a few for "get a feel" of what is going on.

but the implementation outside a few flagship website just sucks. It is infested with the "design by committee" disease -- too many options, almost impossible to implement correctly.

Re:Computers Cannot Make Decisions on Saturday October 10, 2026 @09:33AM (#50032798)
You missed the point. Computers can make decisions, but we shouldn't let them.

This is because they can't take the blame, they can't be held responsible.

Re:LLMs Aren't Inevitable on Saturday October 10, 2026 @09:25AM (#50032725)
I don't doubt it can, sometimes, produce output far better than most human can. The problem is: what happens what it don't ...
> Seriously, if a single politician stepped forward and said "i'll bring down ram prices"

How? Increase production? The time needed to scale up the production is longer than one election cycle.
