You don't have to be rude.

Our critical thinking is bounded to our needs. Machine needs nothing, so you have to give it a task. Yes, within limited scope a machine can look like it's thinking. Yes, scope is expanding. But it has this flaw and requires constant fine-tuning job that expands along with the scope.

About "to demonstrate our level of thinking" - that is my bad rephrasing of "garbage in, garbage out".

> We are not here for polling.

Please don’t push your agenda by framing it as the position of the majority.

If you try to clone anything from the nature then your competitor is evolution, which is constantly looking for the most energy efficient way to do the job.

Fools, crooks, conformists, as well as `critical thinkers` have one in common — the need. Unless it's a human, machine would always think `as` it's a question it's existence depends on. But not really.

What AI can do at most — is to demonstrate our level of thinking. As well as recommendation algorithms can show what music is popular. Without constant feed from humans this makes no sense.

Add critical thinking and we’ll create a human but more expensive.

Had the same experience with the OpenRewrite lately.

"highly unlikely" as in "it's expensive because expected to be executed by professionals" happens already.

A-h-h! Thanks! But still, I see no usual transitioning; the images differ in style, weird `play` on carousel. Previous ones were eye catchers. Do you disagree?

I can't comprehend why 250 MB for a weather app on macOS is considered normal.

I've never seen such a boring landing page from Apple.

Every day someone is new to the world. Analytics is not OLTP. Would appreciate for anything to read except “you stupid” and “believe me, bro”.

Let's keep discussion bar high.

I've just checked their website, and they state "relying on ClickHouse to power these analytics use cases". That's not OLTP. https://clickhouse.com/comparison/postgresql

Fair to say, seeing 1000x w/o any trace of proof won't help me to choose.

Nakba.
Re:Y Combinator will let founders receive funds in stablecoins on Wednesday February 04, 2026 @07:56AM (#46885278)
I vouch for that. The only reasons investing stable coins are taxes weren’t paid or source of the income somewhere btw drugs and child porn, or both. Good luck with these guys and their attitude.
Microchips for farming are made in several counties including US. There are highly specific processors, like those required for ML, but that’s not what farming can live without.

Having narratives as broad as yours, without any evidence and reasoning, is the fastest way to achieve Russia-level disaster with government monopoly in the name of “security”.

The only sense it makes if you want corruption at state level and to go on war with at least half of the world.

Good luck with that.

Hello from Moscow.

Because you don’t need to sync and you have ACID with joins.
That’s the ideal situation to have vets and poor people in surviving mode.

Now you just release act of great benefits for those who sign and you get them onboard in a blink of an eye.

Same with the Russian mil conscripts in Ukraine.

Same with the crusade in mid ages.

Re:US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s on Sunday March 09, 2025 @01:02PM (#43311067)
First, reps where for Ukraine and now you are flipping like a vane. Second, $100b in weapon aid for Ukraine is just small change and old stuff mostly; and Ukraine could be one of the solid buyers for decades. Third, if you're not a filthy rich you are paying and will pay a lot more for the upcoming years. This could be a real win for US, Ukraine and even probably could overthrow Putin. But with that course of actions the only option for you is to keep stacking eggs.
Re:US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s on Sunday March 09, 2025 @12:50PM (#43310941)
It's because Russia is on the verge of economic collapse and Putin forces Trump to cancel sanctions critical to them.

At this point, Russia got maximum from this war. These rare minerals deal is just to distract and it's nothing compared to oil, manganese and soil Russia will capture.

Also, I'm struggling to find any reason for Zelensky to sign the deal – no protection, zero chance to get land back. Just thrown under the bus. EU is better option.

Re:Cash Cows on Saturday November 25, 2023 @02:38PM (#38415991)
40% of the food in the US is thrown away every year and yet millennials suffer from obesity.

It's time to stop thinking like you’re in a wasteland because it’s the very way to make it so.

I second that and I came here to add that the few who rule the masses are responsible, and not the masses.

Blaming masses for being not that clever is just arrogance and ignorance of the fact that intelligence is NOT required to live happily and be good to others.

And while scientists will continue this very stupid narrative of high intelligence necessity rulers and ultra-rich will continue to exploit it.
