Re:How much of HN is AI? on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @11:49PM (#47346214)
Not all of us are 100 years old.
It's all a bit hyped up for the media though. It's like saying a rapist is good but a murder is bad. Both are bad, you can argue either way but ultimiately both OpenAI, Anthropic and likely Google will enable/disable whatever systems to allow killing humans if it means they get a big check from the US Gov.

Anthropic has let its system kill humans, although it happened in a roundabout way which in my opinion, doesn't dissolve their responsibility.

"A computer can never be held accountable, therefore a computer must never make a management decision".

The fact we are drifting away from this every day scares me.

They are called "Lego" not "Legos".

I thought this forum was for intellectual discussion, full of intellectual people. You're a pseudo-intellectual at best.

I collect Hot Wheels but have always found Lego to be annoying.

It's a pain in the ass to put together, pain in the ass to move, pain in the ass to collection. The costs are out of this world and most collectors don't even build their sets, they keep it in the box from 20 years ago. At least with Hot Wheels you can see the car inside even when still packaged.

Re:I'm glad the Anthropic fight is happening now on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @08:02PM (#47344345)
Why does a Google Product Manager need to have room mates?

You would assume someone with that role, that stature, is able to afford their own place.

I would question your relationship.

I personally joined HN because of various AI discussions.

Comparatively, other sites such as Reddit, Twitter and YouTube just shill content, applications or products. A ton of the posts on Reddit are just AI written ffmpeg wrappers which no one should care about but apparently people do...

Re:Cloudflare Crawl Endpoint on Tuesday March 10, 2026 @07:57PM (#47330288)
Their free DNS is only a small piece of the pie.

The fact that 30%+ of the web relies on their caching services, routablility services and DDoS protection services is the main pull.

Their DNS is only really for data collection and to front as "good will"

I believe a service like this could succeed if the initial base model wasn't Stable Diffusion and wasn't trained internet scrapes without the copyright permissions.

Their solution basically just amounts of "Ethically sourced Styles" which still has all the red tape that a normal text2image model has because majority of the data is still unapproved for use in an AI model.

Businesses didn't want to get wrapped up in a pesudolegal model that really has no better legality than base SD.

Re:The optimal age to freeze eggs is 19 on Monday March 09, 2026 @11:08PM (#47318691)
This seems probable. Much like near universal consumption of birth control for woman.

It's entirely a cost equation right now though.

I do think its all a bit dystopian though.

Re:Show HN: The Mog Programming Language on Monday March 09, 2026 @09:12PM (#47317989)
This language could mog the ASU frat leader into a career ending cortisol spike. Clav finally has some clapback after getting trolled by an foids all day.
The problem is, they are becoming normalized very very quickly.

Take a walk down whatever area has the best night life near you and you will see tons of people wearing meta glasses. It's so common.

Re:Most of the US economy is in a recession on Sunday March 08, 2026 @09:24PM (#47303728)
Diesel price rising can be easily fixed though.

The Government collects 51.6 cents per litre on Fuel and Diesel, they'd need to just temporarily cut back on some of their obscene fuel margins to keep everything within steady-state.

The question is, will the Government do so?

Society has changed. Laws practically didn't exist back then, should we go back to a near lawless society? Should we bring slavery back? Should we prevent woman from working, driving, voting?
8 Core/16 Thread, boosting up to 5.1GHz with iGPU would be pretty neat for a Plex Server or Proxmox Server with a few VMs.
Re:Something is afoot in the land of Qwen on Thursday March 05, 2026 @12:30AM (#47257904)
The term doesn't matter. If you haven't been approved to be in a country, you shouldn't be in said country.

You don't go walking into the Amazon Head Office and walk up to the Executives Offices. You aren't allowed, why do you think this is acceptable?

Sneaking into the office (country) and then benefiting seems not right, what am I missing?

Are you suggesting Nvidia doesn't have talent in the AI industry?

NVIDIA has released NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and a Frame Generation model, NVIDIA Super Resolution (VSR) being the most popular/well known models. (DLSS is outstanding technology, despite the sometimes misleading marketing).

Nvidia has released countless models:

Alpamayo 1 (Car navigation model) Cosmos-Reason2 (reasoning vision language model) Nemotron 3 (Large Language Model series) Llama-Nemotron (Large Language Model series) Isaac GR00T (VLA Models) Nemotron OCR (Optical Character Recognition models)

Take a look at their HuggingFace Collections, almost 100 different collections with countless models inside each collection: https://huggingface.co/nvidia/collections

You're delusional if you think the US isn't spying on you though.

They spy on everyone, they just happen to pay US-companies to do the spying to avoid any accountability.

I don't think we should also just tolerate spying on other countries. Why does the average Joe Blogs in Sweden need to be spied on by the US Government?

If they are illegal citizens, they need to go.
Re:Apple Introduces MacBook Neo on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @06:19PM (#47255387)
Do we think the iPhone 16 with A18 Pro chips are going to be the same as the A18 in the laptop though?

When you are not confined to a iPhone body, you have a bit more flexibility in thermals, heat and power consumption.

Would there be any chance the A18 Pro in a Macbook clocks higher? or maybe clocks higher for longer?

Re:Apple Introduces MacBook Neo on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @06:17PM (#47255372)
No.
Re:Apple Introduces MacBook Neo on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @06:17PM (#47255358)
What?
You are American, although you've discussed Ryanair before, which isn't exactly American. You have a number of comments and posts about Japan, which is strange, although you do drive a Japanese car.
Occasionally, they'll "stage" an in-flight emergency, forcing a landing in China and arrest you.

The US invented it.

Re:Lenovo's New ThinkPads Score 10/10 for Repairability on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @10:23PM (#47242631)
The bigger threat is the US, which injects spyware capabilities into every AMD, Intel and Nvidia die.
Re:Lenovo's New ThinkPads Score 10/10 for Repairability on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @10:21PM (#47242619)
Moving the mouse around at anything below 90Hz is pretty rough.
Re:OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Defends Pentagon Work to Staff on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @10:18PM (#47242598)
I actually don't really have the biggest problem with Trump. I voted for him.

I do have a problem with surveillance.

How exactly can a child consent to having their face analyzed and tracked, both by Facebook and its 10,000 ad partners, including ingestion into Government databases automatically, then used in countless AI algorithms, which may act against them.

They simply are not of sound mind to understand the consequences of such a transaction.

Re:OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Defends Pentagon Work to Staff on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @07:51PM (#47241488)
If you work at Palantir, your reputation is forever tainted in my mind.

You should not deserve a job for the rest of your life. You should be homeless and honestly, maybe end your life.

If your CEO supports Trump, that probably isn't the best thing either, although this is 1 million times better than being the tool used to break every laws, developing killing and spying machines.
