Does anyone find it annoying to read AI generated/assisted posts like this?

It's like reading Claude 5+ output verbatim.

Maybe it's been edited by a human, or maybe not. I could not last more than a few paragraphs.

In my day job I *heavily* use agents for almost everything, so I think I've got a good sense for when AI wrote most of the content.

Ironically this makes me lose interest in reading any "blog" posts that weren't written by a human or at least have a human-sounding voice.

In this vein I’ve started using Tern (https://stencil.so/tern), but it’s closed beta, from the creator of Oh My Pi.

This space seems to be heating up, everyone wanting to build the single pane of glass for agentic work.

I build AI agent runtimes for a living. That doesn’t mean I like to set my money on fire due to the current supply and demand mismatch.

Apple never drops prices, never. It will go straight into their margin.

I have an M1 Max but I am not paying 50% more than a few months ago to upgrade.

I have bought Apple laptops since 2004 but I can’t justify the current extortionate pricing, so I’ll sit it out (permanently if need be).

Re:Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain on Monday September 28, 2026 @05:20AM (#49875444)
We had the X-Trail AWD version of this. The plus side was getting around 850km to a tank of petrol. However, the EV-only range was very poor and the engine was quite harsh sounding when it spun up. Super happy to get rid of it and switch to BEV.
Re:How much oil-market buffer is left? on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @09:48PM (#49721215)
Happy we made the switch to all EVs + solar this year. Knock on effects on the economy are going to be brutal though.

Every damn vibe project: “Catchy hook, descriptive explanation”. Like they’ve all got their own marketing team now.
Re:Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @10:07PM (#49530911)
I am on the Claude Max 20x plan, and this still happens when using Fable 5/Opus 5. I would run out of weekly quota in 2 days, whereas Opus 4.8 would last the entire week, and sit at about 80-90% at the end.
Re:New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra on Friday August 28, 2026 @06:18AM (#49476657)
I have a 9950X3D and an RTX 4090 in a 10L case (FormD T1).

Water cooled but it does get a bit loud when I play games, silent for regular usage.

Re:Who bears the risk in Nvidia's $500B financing platform? on Thursday August 27, 2026 @03:13AM (#49461014)
The return of CDOs?
I put in 2 CAT6 wires to every room in the house (4 in my office, 4 in garage), with one big PoE switch in the garage.

Everything with an Ethernet port is wired, wifi is for phones and tablets only (a few UniFi WiFi 6 APS).

Works great!

Internet has never dropped for me while working, family loves the always working NAS streaming via wired Apple TV.

Re:Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @03:18PM (#49365976)
Using ASD-STE100 is in my system prompt, not just CLAUDE.md which basically never gets followed.

I actually converted it from the PDF into an explicit skill with the word list inline as well as the main rules.

Works a little bit, but give it a bit of context and the model’s training takes over and it starts talking like a dictionary-huffing crack addict again.

It’s a model problem and no amount of harness hacking seems to fix it.

Re:Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @03:11PM (#49365907)
I mean I do the same at work where we currently use Anthropic, but we are also on a token optimisation drive so it’s getting hard to justify spending even more tokens cleaning up after Anthropic’s garbage by paying Anthropic more. We have started having users use GPT 5.6 Sol to compare quality and effficiency over Opus. Fable not happening at work because of the data sharing clauses and the completely nuts pricing.
Re:People are worried about America's solvency on Monday August 17, 2026 @03:15PM (#49336168)
How long will the petrodollar remain a thing with the current diversification of energy sources proceeding apace internationally?

Listening to Americans talk about energy and vehicles feels like going back in time, they’re stuck in the past and things that worked then and the world is rapidly routing around them. Quite sad to see.

Re:Ahmad on X: "Anthropic's War on open source AI" / X on Monday August 17, 2026 @03:04PM (#49336016)
I’m a heavy LLM user but if someone gives me an AI-voice argument and presents it as their own, I reflexively dismiss everything they say going forward.

I can prompt the LLM myself thanks.

Re:Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with? on Friday August 14, 2026 @05:20PM (#49304744)
And where would we put this? I don’t want to write that out every prompt. CLAUDE.md is a joke, it has little to no effect.

Basically, I’ve gone from supporting them to hoping someone else wipes the floor with them.

Re:Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with? on Friday August 14, 2026 @05:14PM (#49304683)
I canceled my personal Max 20x subscription because since the 5 series models I simply cannot understand what the LLM is saying without a lot of reading and re-reading, and no amount of CLAUDE.md exhortations to speak plainly seemed to fix it. I don’t have the energy to spend twice as long to understand its plans, and pay Anthropic prices for the privilege. GPT seems not to have been infected by this yet, whatever it is, and Grok is quite refreshing for how normally it speaks.

I wonder if everyone at Anthropic talks like this.

If it’s watermarking, lol, good luck with that, it’s enough negative value to make me switch providers and I’m in a position to make this decision at a company level as well (we spend millions a month on Anthropic).

They need to fix it.

Re:Gsxui – Shadcn-style components for Go on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @01:48AM (#49164721)
As someone who has had to clean up systems that only did a _npm install_ to get compromised, despite being good Renovate citizens, it doesn't matter if it is not "on the production path".

I don't care to hear arguments about how npm was _configured wrong_.

A tool with insecure defaults, with a long and storied history of being the vector by which data has been exfiltrated and companies hacked, needs to do an awful lot to justify still being used for any infrastructure our team is responsible for.

Maybe you should stop invading other countries if these comparisons hurt your feelings buddy.
I had to buy an SSD and some RAM to help my son build a PC.

The SSD cost 30% more than I paid two years ago and was half the capacity (1TB). The RAM cost double what I paid two years ago, was slower, and was half the capacity (32GB).

Same, hard pass on remote shell as a service that is Node and its ecosystem.
Re:Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro? on Sunday July 19, 2026 @12:42AM (#48965044)
Interesting that they are “dumping” them in Australia and other countries at prices that are competitive but far above what they cost in China.

Below cost of production my ass.

The only Western car company even competing with them is Tesla, who people love to hate for ideological reasons.

Calling what Chinese companies are doing “dumping” is pure cope for the utter failures of Western companies.

Look at my post history, I’m not pro-China at all, but I am a realist and can see the evidence with my own eyes since we can actually get the vehicles here.

I give it 5 years for Western and Japanese companies to be decimated in this market. Can’t say they don’t deserve it.

Re:Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro? on Sunday July 19, 2026 @12:34AM (#48965007)
I wonder if similar costs were paid when the West was industrializing?

Spoiler: Yes.

Re:Qwen 3.6 27B is the sweet spot for local development on Monday June 29, 2026 @09:17PM (#48727468)
Potentially going to sound privileged here, but why not both?

Personally when going on the road I like portability (14" MBP or MBA), but at home I want raw non-thermally throttled power.

We have that as well as air-conditioning at the office, so... :)
Re:Underarm Bowling Incident of 1981 on Saturday June 27, 2026 @05:08PM (#48701780)
We started playing as kids, just trying to whack the ball and not getting out.

The rest of the jargon and strangeness was absorbed slowly over time until it because natural, like a language.

I still can’t explain how it works to my wife.

Re:How Europe Became the World Champion of Heat Deaths on Saturday June 27, 2026 @03:05PM (#48700800)
I hate going to our European offices over summer. It’s 2026 and their concept of climate control is opening the windows or maybe finding a fan somewhere and turning it on. That doesn’t work so well when it’s 40C outside.

I wonder when they will join the rest of us in the future.

Re:Ask HN: What software feels exceptionally polished? on Thursday June 11, 2026 @04:12PM (#48495795)
1Password?

The last year with it has been so bad I canceled our $80 Family subscription and switched to the native Apple one despite its feature gap, because 1Password just couldn’t do its basic job reliably (fill passwords without requiring 20 taps, constant unlocking disregarding lock timer settings or some other arcane dance like force killing Safari to reload the plugin).

Try mentioning AI in a remotely positive light on Mastodon, e.g. just as a side comment about how it let you finally finish a side project or something cool, and you’ll get a wave of neckbeards swarm in to tell you they are blocking you, you are a bad person, killing the earth, fascist supporter, etc.

Very strange, but I’ve seen the same folks dog pile in for other causes, so I guess it’s just a part of the identity now.

I know macOS is not considered a gamer platform, but I appreciate enough that he built for macOS too that I purchased a copy!

(Speaking as someone who also owns a Windows 11 RTX 4090/9950X3D gaming monster… sometimes I like gaming on my MBP!)
