Re:Radicle: Sovereign {code forge} built on Git on Friday May 15, 2026 @02:23PM (#48152000)
Congrats!

Maybe I'm not the target audience for this, so pardon my ignorance when I ask what problem does this solve? Centralization and censorship?

Mildly is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. What does mildly depressed mean?

Are you referring to the co-founder of Loom? https://vinay.sh/i-am-rich-and-have-no-idea-what-to-do-with-...

What’s the alternative here? No wolves and less biodiversity? That’s detrimental in the long-term.

The real issue here seems to be the forest fires that disturbed the wolves’ equilibrium.

> They might have some success because they put a slick interface over a shoddy backend, like Robinhood making a nice UI while farming out the actual clearing house work to a third party because they don't understand it.

Robinhood went self-clearing in 2018 and don’t “farm out” their clearing house work.

(Full disclosure - I’m speaking from a place of privilege where I can afford the subscription cost of Obsidian)

I hear you on subscriptions rubbing you the wrong way. Hear me out, though. This is a bootstrapped team that builds and supports apps that empower you, the individual. Your data resides in plaintext and you can use your own sync server.

Not everything needs to be a subscription, but I don’t mind paying a few dollars per month to support the team.

Just my 2c.

Re:AI Startups Are Making Their Home in New York on Tuesday May 21, 2024 @07:28PM (#40435500)
This has been my experience as well, although I’ve started hearing folks complain about wanting a slightly slower pace of life after living in NYC for a couple of years. Especially those who moved out of the Bay.
As someone with ADHD, I’m glad that the technology exists to create a RSS feed off a website even if the author intentionally doesn’t maintain one.

I don’t think “if it’s important you’ll remember it” is applicable to everyone.

I like it. It’s not deafening and has a unique profile.

Granted I haven’t traveled much, so I don’t know if it’s globally unique.

I’m a huge fan of https://lunchmoney.app. Small (1?) team and gets the job done for me.

What would you recommend reading if one wants to know more about Node.js event loops?
Yeah, I’m convinced that the concentration of THC found in products these days is unhealthy. I’m a weed user myself, but since legalization I haven’t had a great experience due to the high THC contents.

Where do you find the 3% THC in California? Hopefully, it’s someplace in the Bay Area.

Re:The dragon compiler book (2nd edition) is a great book on Thursday June 01, 2023 @01:24AM (#36147848)
Do you recommend a book that’s more up-to-date?
Re:Is remote work bad for the economy? on Tuesday January 31, 2023 @10:07PM (#34605816)
There's an assumption you're making, which is the current model of cities, ie. a dense downtown area, is the right model.

This wouldn't be the case if we optimized for the right set of constraints - all of the places you mentioned being in walking distance. If there were more restaurants in the neighborhood, I'd eat out thrice a week at the very least.

Anecdotal, but a co-worker’s parent works at NHIS and I’ve heard they’ve adopted Kubernetes.
That’s cost-effective! I’ve been toying with the idea of running a personal distributed system that’s not serverless to just hack around and Hetzner seems approachable going by your experience.
How much does this cost you on a monthly basis?
Did not expect to see Lunar here. Thanks for creating it! :)
Maybe try being the change you wish to see and post an ambitious, or memorable, goal to inspire the rest of us. :)

Elizabeth Holmes defrauded investors. SBF gambled with customer deposits. I’d say the stakes are higher.

Edit: fixed formatting.

https://privacy.com - I don't use them as often as I should, but they do a great job.
Re:Who Says C is Simple? on Friday March 04, 2022 @11:03AM (#30556560)
That only tells me that sweep shop consultancies are bad at writing good C code.
Re:Real-Time Tokyo Subway Map on Sunday January 02, 2022 @03:08AM (#29766811)
It seems even unrelated to map move. Just loading up the page injected 10 items onto the stack.
Re:NPS doesn’t say anything particularly useful on Friday December 31, 2021 @01:11AM (#29745468)
IDK, in my experience NPS prioritization trends towards "hiring more people to focus on customer happiness."

Thank you!

What makes you think India is _not_ industrialized?
Do you have any citations for this? I'd love to explore in depth what the lateral tech track looks like.
This reminds me of a Buffet'ism (if you will): "it is better to be approximately right than precisely wrong."

I heard it on a podcast, though I'm pretty sure he didn't coin the phrase.

Re:Computer-1 mini-ITX Chassis on Thursday October 28, 2021 @02:56PM (#29030047)
And if they profited from it, isn't that enough? There's a market, however small, and they produced enough. I would argue that TE knows its customers really well.
Re:The End of Retirement (2014) on Thursday May 20, 2021 @10:52AM (#27221870)
My counterpoint to this is: it's worth it to regret the last few years than to regret it an entire lifetime. I know I'll regret kids.

Edit: Goes without saying that you'll need to plan for your retirement. I fully anticipate assisted suicide being a legal option during my old age.
