They must have gotten their first bill from Anthropic.
Re:Intel stock collapse worsens as $3.5T chip rout spreads on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:42PM (#50346907)
No. This is also not true anymore. In fact they are even letting other cloud providers buy them like Oracle.

I think both Google and AMD both prove this is not true anymore.

Maybe a decade ago, but they have lost market share every year since and currently sits around 60% and it still decreasing.

https://ampcode.com/what-are-orbs

Agents running in a remote vm.

Re:Berthd on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @04:39PM (#49983772)
The more time goes on the more I think there is basically no moat in AI products because everyone is literally building the same shit. There is zero creativity in AI product right now. Yeah they might be different designs, but they are all the same exact product under the skin.

Cursor, Devin, Factory, Amp Code, Codex, Claude Codex, Antigravity, Conductor, OpenCode, T3 Code, Orca, Emdash, and hundreds of more of the same exact shit.

Yeah they might market it same fancy revolutionary technology like Orbs, but it not it just an agent harness local or remote. You can do orbs literally with Claude Code with a single prompt it not special.

We have AI that lets you build things freely and yet here we are all building the same exact thing.

This is just coding harness. The personal assistant space is the exact same.

Re:America.gov – Whatever you need from government, start here on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @07:43PM (#49902399)
Relax. Not everything the world has to be negative. Cheer up.
Re:America.gov – Whatever you need from government, start here on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @07:42PM (#49902390)
Why not they both already provide their models for free...
Re:America.gov – Whatever you need from government, start here on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @05:00PM (#49900461)
I believe it's a mix of Gemini and Grok. They are probably providing the compute for free.
Re:OpenAI: Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscription on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @04:09AM (#49889803)
It's very obvious that they need compute for whatever they are announcing tomorrow and that thing will most likely have free usage. So they are cutting usage on the biggest users of compute to allow them to be able to serve whatever they are announcing tomorrow to the masses.

The thing is probably a Muse, and Grok Bot competitor.

Re:Leaked Gemini 4 Pro numbers on Sunday September 27, 2026 @07:50PM (#49871997)
It doesn't matter if the leaks come from Google themselves until you use a Gemini model you don't know how good it is. I mean Flash 3.8 is second on DeepSWE and there isn't a single person picking that model over Sol and Astra or Opus and Fable.
Re:DeepSeek Elastic Compute (DSec) on Saturday September 26, 2026 @10:35PM (#49862778)
Yeah, but that brings up another problem that China doesn't have. Their federal government is always on the same page. The US federal government changes every two years and it doesn't seem like one side is going to be allowing building of AI data centers anymore and in fact might just ban AI in general.
Re:DeepSeek Elastic Compute (DSec) on Saturday September 26, 2026 @04:30PM (#49860254)
Short term they might have less compute, but long term they will most definitely have more compute. They don't have to worry about energy, they don't have to worry about people blocking them building data centers the only thing stopping them is there no Chinese manufacturer that can produce a chip as good as Nvidia but I would bet that solved in a year or so.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:51AM (#49827112)
I think you're underestimating Facebook if you think they don't know your address.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @09:46PM (#49825186)
What does your state ID have that Facebook can't already get?
Re:Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @03:26PM (#49821230)
As they should because things like this get people thinking even if it something small. Once you get people thinking about things you tend to get solutions.
Re:GPT-6 Sol and Luna on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @04:40PM (#49807758)
It was 9.4B to be exact and it was over the course of two days lol. It was between two projects so 99% of them were cached reads.

The GPT was about 1B on two projects on 300$ worth of plans all on Astra and I capped out on usage.

Anthropic caching must be better because the cache rates are better on Claude models.

Re:GPT-6 Sol and Luna on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @03:07PM (#49806505)
Usage is actually Claude now because of Opus 5.5 since it a better model that Astra. I maxed out my 200$ Claude plan with 10b token on Opus 5 and 5.5 is cheaper. I maxed out two Codex accounts with like not even 5b tokens.
Re:Xiami Mimo 2.6 Live Training Dashboard on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:13PM (#49745895)
Well maybe they should because companies that do cool shit tend to attract people wanting to do cool shit and those are the people you want to be working at your company.

Unless you want your company to become Google which use to do cool shit but now they dont and now they don't have a single person at the company that can build cool shit so they just release a bunch of lame shit.

Re:Xiami Mimo 2.6 Live Training Dashboard on Thursday September 17, 2026 @01:05AM (#49736623)
Why the fuck would you or I care about that?

Anthropic and OpenAI literally stole from every human in history and youre out here complaining that the Chinese are distilling models and releasing them to the public?

Why do you care?

Re:Nvidia announces native GPU programming in Rust on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @06:49PM (#49734124)
LLM don't need to be trained in a library to use it well. It's just Rust which they know well.
Re:Xiami Mimo 2.6 Live Training Dashboard on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @06:45PM (#49734089)
This isn't about liking open source. This is about the labs just being cool and doing cool shit instead of the opposite which is Anthropic where all they talking about is killing everyone and taking everyone's job.
Re:Xiami Mimo 2.6 Live Training Dashboard on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:22PM (#49733211)
The Chinese labs are just making fun of the US labs at this point.

Where is the cool shit from the US labs?

Re:Homebrew 7.0.0 on Monday September 14, 2026 @05:25PM (#49704279)
Yeah, the combination with mise is what make this great.
Re:Homebrew 7.0.0 on Sunday September 13, 2026 @01:58PM (#49686712)
You can use mise for install homebrew items btw so if you get a new computer you just drop the config.toml inside the mise and install.

This is all you have to add to the config file:

[bootstrap.packages]

"brew:git" = "latest"

"brew-cask:ghostty" = "latest"

Re:A misalignment of AI in mathematics on Friday September 11, 2026 @06:11PM (#49666104)
Are we here to solve problems or are we here for prestige?

Who cares how the problems are solved?

Re:Anthropic is lying: Moonshot is not routing to Claude on Friday September 11, 2026 @03:03AM (#49654540)
Maybe the Chinese app is different, but the Kimi app shows reasoning traces so how can they route the request to Claude models which don't show reasoning trace and still provide a reasoning trace on the UI?

So I think they are in fact just lying because it doesn't make sense why they would route requests to Claude over their own model.

Re:DeepSeek v4.1 Flash on Thursday September 10, 2026 @07:38AM (#49641998)
Not only compute, but more money and people.
Re:DeepSeek v4.1 Flash on Thursday September 10, 2026 @04:57AM (#49640566)
You should read their research papers
Re:DeepSeek v4.1 Flash on Thursday September 10, 2026 @03:49AM (#49639918)
I think it's very clear that DeepSeek is obviously the best AI lab in the world.

Every model release seems like it packed with wonderful research and advancements.
