Buying a Chinese EV in Canada feels like such a gamble given the current geopolitical situation. Like what happens if things reverse and you can no longer get parts or support for these cars? Let's say you can get parts and third party shops open up to fill the support gap, how sure are you you'll continue to get the software updates these cars rely on?
While I'd love to consider a Chinese EV as my next car, there just seem to be too many early adopter risks here outside of the car itself.
That sounds like an exhausting way to live.
While I agree that some copyright law probably goes too far, I don't understand how you could advocate for 0 copyright? What incentive will people have to produce creative works in that case?
The new adhesives they use for their metal batteries can be undone by applying 9v for like a minute or something.
>If the resulting software is so poor you need to hire a human specialist software engineer to come in and rewrite the vibe coded software, it defeats the entire purpose.
I don't think this is entirely true. In a lot of cases vibe coding something can be a good way to prototype something and see how users respond. Obviously don't do it for something where security is a concern, but that vibe-coded skin cancer recognition quiz that was on the front page the other day is a good example.
I've stopped using the word "cheap" to describe situations like this as the word has too many negative connotations. I tend towards "inexpensive", "cost-effective", or "low-cost". I find it better describes my intent to describe something as not costing much but not speaking to poor quality which I feel like the word "cheap" has come to imply.
Hmm, not sure I understand how you made use of OpenAI to guess the location oh a photo. Could you expand on that a bit? Thanks!
Some Chinese exporters are definitely splitting the cost of these tariffs with their American importer counterparts. While this isn't as significant as "China pays all the tariffs", it's also not "Americans pay all the tariffs".
Though, I haven't seen any analysis on how common this is, so the effect might be negligible in terms of how much "the Chinese" are paying for these tariffs.
This isn't an inherit issue with LLMs. You just need to set up some prompts that you can default to for different use cases. For example, you could set one up that is told to only provide the function arguments, and return value.
No, you pretty much got it. It's a game of chicken and the last ones holding are the losers.
Even if we say 1M people pay $20/month, that's only $240M/year. That's not enough to continue to grow and support the free users sans-ads.
After the fundamentals, you'll learn more building something on your own than following any course.
This is even easier today than it's ever been with ChatGPT at your side.
Getting an unverifiable iso for Windows seems like a bigger security risk than Recall tbh. Does MS publish hashes for the LTSC versions to at least let you ensure what you have hasn't been altered?
>I try to constantly reinforce that we don't write code for ourselves, we write it for the next person.
Heck, it does't even need to be another person. Even me 10 months from now who may have forgotten some context around some code will appreciate boring code.
If the dollar collapses who's there to enforce your ownership of said property?
A used Sony a6000 + kit lens + cheap HDMI to USB dongle.
The nice thing about this sort of setup is that you can upgrade the lens as needed without having to redo the whole system.
As for lighting, DIY some diffusers for and stick them on some lamps.
There are, in fact, many filthy rich folks on here.
The prices for monitors with the features described in the piece have come significantly down from when it was written. You can get a very decent 4K@144hz monitor for around $650 USD.
Could you expand? The last Brother product I have is from 5 years ago and it didn't seem to have started its enshittification yet.
I don't understand how folks expect this to promote equity when all the folks with means can just put their kids in private school?
Very "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" for me.
You'd probably end up with the type of "love hotels" you see in Japan.
If you use any of the better password managers this feature exists and runs automatically. If you don't want to go that route, then you can make use of

GP refers to "grand parent", in the sense of the grand parent comment. Basically 2 comments up the chain.
>clear concise description
Except they sometimes leave the brand of the item out of the product title or description which is super annoying. There have been times where I've looked for sellers of certain products in Canada, and having failed, ordered from the states or Amazon. But then I later realize that the product I want is sold at Lee Valley under some generic name.
One example is the Water Right garden hose [1]. They don't ship to Canada but you can get in on Amazon. You can also get it at Lee Valley but nothing on the site indicates it's the Water Right hose [2]. I only realized by examine the images. I would have loved to have supported Lee Valley, but by the time I noticed I'd always bought from Amazon.
