Re:The $6.3B Binance Hack Was Pulled Off in Just 20 Minutes on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:38PM (#50329593)
Hacking bank and stealing money from there is not so easy as stealing 32 characters private crypto key. Even if you steal some data from bank, using is is another challenge. With crypto key you just use an open source client on your machine to move the crypto.
Still you may get traces of previous tenant if things are not cleaned up properly.
Re:The foolishness of "natural language programming" (1978) on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:15AM (#50205468)
Todays natural language program won't work tomorrow due to unstable nature of natural language.

Apart of natural evolution of meanings, look at Orwellian limitations some (cloud) models impose on is that our natural language program become illegal. Due to topic or combination of words the program needs to be flagged and soon likely reported to three leter agency.

Next, RMS would ask: can you make your own natural language program compiler from scratch? I know we have (very expensive) local models, but wait until GPUs get a propper online subscriptions to work and surveillance taps.

Re:The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @08:55AM (#50180115)
We have biggest fussion reactor available to us on the sky everyday relatively for free. But that won't stop our greed and overpopulation.
Re:I built a programming language that LLMs can't use on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:59AM (#50148886)
Ough, South Park "Smug Alert!" episode has came to my mind.
Re:I built a programming language that LLMs can't use on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:53AM (#50148840)
Most of SOTAs would trip out on "HateSpeak" programming language.
Could you please share which ones? I need serious ones with generic DPA but without Enterprise plan costs.
Don't try to translate any crime stories, and for goodness sake don't mention Matallica's debut album /s
Re:Let's Ditch Google (Verb) on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @01:28PM (#49911880)
Searching is dying. I mostly hear "ask Claude/ChatGPT" these days. Googling will most of the time result in wall of slop on the first page unless you search with the exact source or site hint.
Re:Claude partial outage on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @11:02AM (#49894543)
Ah, so disabling auto-mode is their monkey rate limiter.
Absolutely, I should really put "/s" after that.

Really I was thinking about exact example announced recently on HN: Postgres rewirte in Rust, it has 3 versions looks like each one generated from scratch https://github.com/malisper/pgrust

"Getting requirements, user feedback, tests, product vision", that also apply to iterations. Iterative processes are just a cascade of small waterfalls - either a scrum week or just a single agent session (define, prompt, plan, implement, verify)

But today you can do even better, with AI can do true waterfall by rewriting from scratch many times.

Wow, I think you have never had a chance to communicate with someone selling their expertise for $2/h. Unless your time is also worth $2/h, I think you would get better results prompting local 27B model.
Re:Don't couple your Go code to GitHub on Monday September 28, 2026 @03:27AM (#49874691)
I think we need better handle to the original location/author/project than a domain. Any of such "go" proxy is yet another SPOF.

We should lean towards IPNS (Name Seever part of IPFS) or some distribited ledger.

Re:When did Google get so f-ing weird? on Monday September 28, 2026 @03:21AM (#49874648)
I am worried the old net is slowly dying and any "before:2015" or "before:2020" search results will vanish soon.

Thank you for that simple wisdom for today.

Re:Heretic removes restrictions from language models on Monday September 21, 2026 @08:48AM (#49786623)
You can still lease GPU farm in many "easy" countries.
Re:UTF-8000: Unlimited UTF-8 on Sunday September 20, 2026 @06:46AM (#49774507)
Alright, so now we can fit an entire LLM model into one character.
Re:Jemalloc 5.4.0 on Friday September 18, 2026 @03:50AM (#49751331)
I upvoted it because I benefit from jemalloc in my stack (RoR) and I am tired of AI taking over HN front page. Let the hacker spirit be back!
Re:Hacking OpenAI on Friday September 18, 2026 @03:45AM (#49751296)
The surface of potential issues is growing with complexity of all connected parts of the system. That applies to not only software. To prevent issues you either spend proportional amount (dollars, tokens, hours) on testing or reduce complexity of the system.

Re:Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after navier-stokes on Thursday September 17, 2026 @06:34AM (#49738796)
This. Listening and creative customer support rep, especially one who can even escalate fundamental product issues to company leadership is worth weight of gold.
Re:I resigned from Anthropic today on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @04:00AM (#49622946)
Even if AI won't be self-aware and superintelligent agent, its problem is that it gives exponential control and power capabilities to one person bad actor who can simply prompt AI without any guardrails with access to sensitive industrial infrastructure which can disrupt lifes and ecosystems in the real world:

   - virus research labs
   - nuclear labs
   - chemical factories
   - bank records
   - land registers
   - power plants
   - water supply and treatment plants
and so on
Re:I resigned from Anthropic today on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:44AM (#49622780)
"patch everything" - there is no such way in the Universe unless you reduce "everything" complexity to just one electron. The higher the complexity the higher the surface of messing things.
Re:WebFPGA on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @01:36AM (#49532155)
My first thought: yet another web browsers standard.
Re:My Business Is Dying on Friday August 28, 2026 @02:39AM (#49475119)
But how you get authentic and engaging for bank statement converter? People search for it to solve particular problem in the first place, not to hear your life story.

And regarding face on video, I just got stuned with video of 106 years old giving life advices and all people but one in comment section didn't notice it is well generated.

Re:My Business Is Dying on Friday August 28, 2026 @02:35AM (#49475088)
No, the problem is too much (sloppy) content dilutes good conent. Searching for good content became impossible, so instead people go straight to AI to ask.
Re:My Business Is Dying on Friday August 28, 2026 @02:19AM (#49474986)
Content marketing is dying because content slop is massively generated now.
Re:Software engineering is about managing complexity on Thursday August 27, 2026 @11:56AM (#49466916)
Is it only me who gets eye pop by just how the font is rendered on that website?
Re:Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B on Thursday August 27, 2026 @11:44AM (#49466691)
Why platform? Bitorrent is the best for all these read-only model files laying on SSDs. Agreed some tiny DHT model search engine would be nice.
