Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:53PM (#50203614)
Am using it right now. iCloud sync of tabs/spaces can get funky; zoom is persisted to the tab, not the host, which is just bizarre but there's a roadmap to correct that to what it should be; be nice if they implemented a native adblocker but otherwise this has been a solid experience.
In case people don't click the link:

>Last month, YouTube, Meta, X, and TikTok all faced backlash for rejecting ads for the film. YouTube and Google quickly reversed course, calling it an “error.” However, TikTok and X have refused to change their stance, and neither platform has allowed paid advertisements for the film.

So many casualties in that period of groping around in functional programming concepts for the frontend from, like, 2014 - 2020 or so. But a lot of good things endured from that at least.
Feels like markdown is token-efficient since its abbreviating HTML tags. Think about a large table. Also, HTML can't be especially rendered inside, say, Neovim, so now interacting with an LLM interface gravitates towards GUIs. Good for accessibility, I guess, there's that. Maybe the need for token efficiency will finally realize my dream of writing Slim[0], or some such, straight to the browser, full native compat.

You can't rebind plugin maps, so the session picker uses my preferred unlock chord to create a session. Dev had no interest in changing that.

Yes, and he will control CNN just prior to the first midterms runoffs, this is all part of a plan.
Re:Paramount launches hostile bid for Warner Bros on Monday December 08, 2025 @04:45PM (#46198083)
That is exactly what is going on. Everyone at WB management knows that the Ellisons want to weaponize CNN before the midterms runoffs start in spring.

They’ll be replaced with cheaper humans in Mexico using those Copilot seats, that’s much more tangible and obvious, no need to wait for genius level AI

LLMs raise the floor for confidence for near/offshoring in the executive class. That’s the actual sell.

Edit: in the context of SWE at least

Re:Steam Machine on Friday November 14, 2025 @12:17AM (#45924092)
I made sure to match brand between my TV and sound system for this reason. Also reminds me: you can have wake from sleep with an Xbox controller on PC, but not any other controller, and Windows won’t wake if I turn the TV on and switch to the PC connection; consoles have done this a long time.
Re:Steam Machine on Thursday November 13, 2025 @03:08PM (#45919852)
Uh

* two major platforms on PC and one of em doesn’t sport a Big Picture mode

* the other store does nasty tricks like never terminate a game process completely when you launch their titles through the other platform (very obvious w/ Alan Wake 2)

* other store’s titles doesn’t have this problem if I use Playnite as the TV frontend, but Playnite is a giant security vulnerability waiting to happen cause you need 3rd party plugins to emulate Steam Big Picture

* entire swatches of games that act funny with Steam Input or have incomplete configurations and I don’t feel like figuring that out just to play Backrooms

* Windows window management when using Steam Big Picture w/ controller is bad, b/c lots of desktop things will steal focus (hello Rockstar Games and EA)

* oh yeah, mandatory LAUNCHERS

* Try to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition on a TV with a controller; no really, try

* don’t even get me started on OOTB auto HDR config for almost any random TV with PS5 vs dicking around with the NVIDIA control panel

* the Steam store navigation w/ controller is baaaaad in 2025, many times you won’t be able to move or select certain things.

This is an incomplete list. It actually doesn’t matter whether you have a point-by-point refutation, no non-technical person wants to deal with any of this. They want machine to take care of everything. That’s what an appliance is

(Edit: formatting)

Re:Steam Machine on Thursday November 13, 2025 @02:51PM (#45919629)
This. Zero reason I should have to download Playnite for a unified gaming frontend
Looks like I’ll need to put that home server together sooner rather later

Firefox kills my battery on an M4 MBP, it’s astonishing. Chromium and Webkit browsers don’t give me that problem.

Also, FF extensions still don’t support service workers, only background pages

Re:Introducing tmux-rs on Thursday July 03, 2025 @04:12PM (#44458760)
Zellij has interesting ideas, but it has a ways to go. You can arbitrarily rebind the base modes and their actions, but you're F'd if those conflict with a plugin's, which seem to all have hardcoded key binds.
Re:Introducing tmux-rs on Thursday July 03, 2025 @04:11PM (#44458748)
You can't rebind key maps to its session manager plugin, making it a no-go since I bind the same key that the plugin uses to select a directory or something. Thus, I can't create new sessions through it, have to do it from the command line.
