if the provider gets popped doesn't the binary get popped too? then simply use an LLM to reverse engineer the binary and get the key?

Conclusions: Interproximal gingival inflammation may be significantly reduced by toothbrushing alone, the effect being significantly enhanced when toothbrushing is combined with dental floss.

isn't this what google stadia was supposed to do and failed?
the political interference of the trump admin in the cdc response certainly didn't help either
I don't think we are on the verge of a y pestus pandemic, but you dismiss it somewhat lightly. Yes, there are antibiotics but there are also weaponized antibiotic resistant strains. Yes, rodents were key to the spread in medieval europe, but there are now weaponized pneumonic plague strains that spread airborne...
Re:When did Google get so f-ing weird? on Monday September 28, 2026 @04:44PM (#49884081)
meh, AI is a new tech, google is experimenting with it. I don't expect it will get everything right 100% of the time.
Re:VSCode's SSH Agent Is Bananas (2025) on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:41PM (#49835063)
why would anyone connect with this to an unknown/untrusted machine? it's more like giving away a gun that will shoot you if you point it at your own head and pull the trigger

this post is giving "the 1800s called, they want their smallpox victims back" energy. the entire scientific community agreed covid vaccines are safe, but I suppose you did your own research

why stop at mathematics. this applies to everything and is the logical conclusion of ASI. singularity.

I mean there is probably a cluster of neurons somewhere in the brain that if damaged would also prevent you from perceiving time going forward. Would it immediately strip you of consciousness? I don't think so.

maybe if AI was progressing linearly we wouldn't be close, but if it's progressing exponentially then all bets are off

Re:25 Years of Mass Surveillance Is Enough on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @03:05PM (#49717258)
power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. technology is unlocking unprecedented levels of power. make no mistake mass surveillance = power, nothing else. any benefit to society is accidental, not the goal. we don't need this kind power in hands of nobody.

I'm tired of giving up privacy in the name of children. Children are were and will be fine even without my access to internet being gated by a gov issued ID thank you very much

Re:Marx, Keynes, and A.I on Monday August 31, 2026 @02:34PM (#49513166)
hm, you're right. looks like they just take the official figure and slap a constant on it. regardless, I still think the official figure is fundamentally flawed and doesn't reflect the health of the job market ~ underemployment, workers that gave up looking, etc
Re:Marx, Keynes, and A.I on Monday August 31, 2026 @12:54PM (#49511946)
by some measures unemployment is at 25% and this aligns with my personal experience much better than frankly the bs 4% rate that is being pushed by this admin

how is EU supposed to open hormuz? do you expect them to raise armies and go to war over a shipping lane? I think US demonstrated plenty enough this is not a viable strategy (this was known for the past 50 years)
don't be so naive. if the billionaires want this, it can't be good for you. it really is that simple
Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Friday June 19, 2026 @12:51PM (#48600517)
the admin cuts funding by 40% ~ cutting something by 40% is bad for it ~ burning something down is an euphemism for acting on something in a way that's bad for it. what are you not following?
Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Thursday June 18, 2026 @07:55PM (#48593205)
whatever the current admin is doing classifies as burning it. if not all the way down, then halfway down
musk's goal = grift himself into the four comma club
Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Thursday June 18, 2026 @02:28PM (#48589460)
burning it all down is not the way to go though
Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Thursday June 18, 2026 @02:00PM (#48589059)
“how do we make the researchers accountable for actually getting something done?”

do we even need this? i think accepting that some will produce nothing useful is just cost of doing business. certainly better than imposing bureaucracy in name of accountability

Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @06:45PM (#48578043)
raise taxes on the rich, cut pentagon funding by 90% and you solved society
I mean maybe not right now, but in 100-1000 years a complicated enough "nanobot/virus" could possibly be made to target a single person
