There has been some config languages, like Cue, that are not Turing complete. It is useful of have them always complete and have deterministic evaluation.
Cue also has a lot of schema validation which is better than dynamic languages.
The big problem used to be that people would buy unlocked Baofengs and accidentally use them on licensed services thinking there were generic walkie talkies. The current locked down rules prevent that. They can still get amateur handhelds and use without ham license, but hams police that. It is also easier to get FRS/GMRS handhelds for pubic use, many the same models reprogrammed.
Unlocking handhelds is less of a problem because it requires deliberate action to break the rules. There are fewer people willing and able to do that.
There is also MAP-T which basically does CGNAT with IPv6-only provider network. The local network gets IPv4, the router translates to IPv6 which goes to stateless IPv4 NAT proxy. The advantage is that the proxy is stateless unlike CGNAT. The downside is requires custom code on the router.
Another problem is that Germans went for heavy water reactors and didn't even get as far as prototypes. Americans built graphite moderated reactors and quickly built plutonium production reactors at Hanford. Also, Allies were able to prevent Germans getting heavy water from Norway.
Ultra Wide Band (UWB) has nothing to do with Extremely High Frequency (mmWave). UWB is usually in the 6-8.5 GHz band but with 500 MHz wide frequency, while mmWave is above 24 GHz.
Earphones are the ones that sit in the ear, and in-ear headphones or canalphones are ones that go in the ear canal. Earbuds originally meant earphones but now means both kinds.
Open-ear is more general cause there are ear-hook and clip-on models now.
LA is the densest major urban area in the country. The MSA isn't dense cause it includes all of Los Angeles County which is half desert and mountains. But the built up area beats Chicago and New York cause it has consistent, medium suburban density, 7400 people per sq mi. The others have dense city, New York City is 29,000 people per sq mi, but the far suburbs drop off.
Transflective LCDs, which most bike computers use, are also reflective but have better contrast than eink making them more visible in sunlight. They are different than phones.
eLoran has been proposed as more accurate version of LORAN competitive with GPS.
The Wikipedia page says that China has deployed an eLoran network but I can't tell if used for navigation or just high-precision timing.
Permanent 25th Amendment is impossible. It requires two thirds of both houses which is more than impeachment. Amendment probably shouldn't have provided a mechanism and just required impeachment. Trump would have to be unable to respond or persuaded to resign.
One big reason to use credit card is that it gives window to settle problems. You have month to charge back before have to pay bank. If hotel places hold, it comes out of the credit limit not your bank balance. If someone makes fraudulent transactions, it isn’t your money and you can still pay rent.
If you pay the balance on time, you are getting free liquidity from the bank. But they get if you don’t pay off the balance.
I think you corrected me before. Maybe this time it will stick.
I don't understand why the USB-C module that they are using doesn't include the resistors. Then they can replace the microUSB module with USB-C module and have it work.
USB-C doesn't provide power by default which is better design than USB-A always providing some power. The device needs to signal that it is a sink with 5.1k ohm resistors so the charger can turn on the power. There is also resistor to signal legacy USB charging to work with USB-A ports.
How is the standard supposed to work with defective devices that don't implement the standard?
There should also be training on how to avoid scams. They have gotten so common on the internet and it is easy for anyone to fall for greed or fear. I wonder if being wary about scams would help with cults.
Shopping works better on web sites because can open multiple tabs to browse multiple products. Especially important on big stores like Aliexpress and Amazon where need to compare lots of products. Desktop is better for that but mobile browsers are still better than apps.
We need large nation-states to make the modern world possible. The internet isn't just bits; everything depends on stuff that has to be shipped by sea. It takes a hegemon like the US and its allies to keep the sea lanes open. Navies are super expensive and a collection of small states wouldn't be able to build ships that could operate around the world.
If anything, technology is making possible for states like Yemen and Iran to shut off chokepoints. It might take multiple powers working together to keep things open.

The thing that sucks about Google Music is that they could have merged them but kept the good parts of both. Youtube Music is still missing features of Google Music. It would have been more than "just", but Google Music with Youtube backend and branding would have worked. It is the backend song licensing they wanted to merge.
The same happened with Google Podcasts. Merged into Youtube Music, not even separate Youtube Podcasts, and it sucks.
USB4 includes standardization of Thunderbolt 3. It allows tunneling USB data, DisplayPort, and PCIe. It also adds 40Gbps and 80Gbps speeds.
Thunderbolt 4 is profile with USB4 tunneling, 40Gbps speed, and 100W power. Thunderbolt 5 is 80Gbps and 240W power.
Energy density doesn't matter for electricity since the storage batteries don't move and there is plenty of space for them. Cost per energy stored is what matters. Density is important for transportation especially planes.
Sodium ion batteries have worse energy density than lithium ion but they have potential to be cheaper and more reliable. Iron air batteries have poor round trip efficiency but could be even cheaper.
I think this shows the flaws in doing agentic designed apps. This is a really specific market that would be hard to make money from. Many people aren't going to think of using diary, most will use generic tracking app or even just notebook. Those that do won't spend money on it.
Another is that they don't have enthusiasm for the idea. Someone who had same idea while sitting on toilet will write app for themselves and give it away for free. They will have connection with IBS groups for promotion. They won't give up after weeks.
Stop saying IPv6 when talking about new protocol. IPv6 already exists and is better than potential IPv4 extension. There was a window twenty years ago for alternative but now IPv6 is usable and can access IPv4 hosts with NAT64. The only reason for IPv4 is inertia.
Routing would be complicated when have to deal with variable length addresses when half the hosts don't know about them and half the routers remove them. It wouldn't make up for rewriting all the software, we know how hard that was with IPv6.
An alternate to IPv6 would have been to store the NAT addresses in IPv4 somehwere. But the IPv4 options are fragile and normal NAT would likely destroy them. It would still require rewriting all of the networking and software. It would have engrained NAT everywhere and made lots of routing problems, like is that your or mine 10. network.
The proper way to do ULA is to generate random 40-bit ID. Then your ULA are likely unique. Which means that if you want to connect or merge with another company, the networks are distinct.
IPv4 has a lot of trouble since everyone is using 10/8 space for corporate networks.
Instead of FAT32, use the flash drive mapping. Flash drive contain mapping from sectors to blocks. This is used to deal with flash erasure, wear leveling, and failures. Custom firmware could map the real filesystem to bad blocks.
Does the forensic software read the whole physical flash drive or just the logical one? They might if they want to get deleted files. Can they detect that there are lots of failures?
Nobody can agree how big UBI should be, and people talk past each other. Small UBI, like poverty level, could replace welfare but wouldn't be enough to survive on without doing something about housing and healthcare. Big UBI would be enough for good life, like median income, but not affordable with current economy and create inflation.
There is something in between that would be enough to survive, with small UBI, universal healthcare, and guaranteed housing.
Company scrip was company currency and employees were required to be paid in it and could only be used in company stores. Employee stock is getting some of your pay, voluntarily, in stock which can be sold in market. As long as company doesn't own housing or run grocery store, it isn't scrip.
Those aren't the only two options. There are non-Turing complete config languages like Cue, Dhall, and Jsonnet that are designed to complete and be consistent. They work well when did to generate static config from some dynamic input generated by regular program.
USB-C is a connector. Part of the confusion is that USB specification versions have come to be associated with the protocols and speeds defined there. The basic division is between USB2 and USB3 which are separate protocols on different wires. USB-C has multiple high speed lanes.
USB 3.0 defined the SuperSpeed protocol and 5GBps speed. Later versions increased speeds, 10GBps (USB3.1), 20GBps (USB3.2). These were also called Gen1, Gen2, or now just the speeds.
Then, there are alternate modes which run other protocols over high speed lanes. DisplayPort is the most common one.
Next, USB4 defined USB4 protocol which multiplexes SuperSpeed and DisplayPort over two high speed lanes. USB4 requires USB-C. This is basically Thunderbolt standardized. Specification also defines 20Gbps, 40Gbps, and 80Gbps speeds.
Relativistic starships are impossible because they require impossible amounts of fuel. "If you can create a ship that is capable of 1g acceleration" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. The rocket equation means you need to take along exponentially increasing amounts of fuel
Even antimatter rockets top out at 50% of light speed. Laser boost like with Dyson Swarm could get similar speeds because time dilation slows down the acceleration.
