Do you think he needs to make any more money in his life, or can he retire tomorrow and live comfortably long past his death?
I think the difference is between someone like you who wants to learn and a teenager who has to learn.
I used to be a tutor, and the kids who wanted to get ahead were people who more needed someone to give them hints as they learned. The ones who needed to get the grade were a lot more reticent and needed a lot more attention and prodding.
I don't think AI as it currently exists is a good choice for those folks.
Can't say I love this for the PNW's water resources and fire forecast next year. Good luck to us all
I think it'll become increasingly important to have folks thinking about how to explain new math in a way that makes sense to your math bachelors students. And to your bright AP Calc students.
If we can point ChatGPT at these problems and get eventual answers, that's awesome, but it'll still be important to figure out how to tell people why this matters in ways they understand.
At least personally, parts of the differences for me are that the same instructions to a different CNC machine should produce the same product and that the machinist, presumably, created the instructions themselves.
Instead of saying "create instructions for CNC to make me a _thing_, then instruct the CNC machine to actually create the _thing_" they went and created the instructions themselves.
It sounds like you're also advocating for some form of permanent pragma that gets stored in the SQLite file and that the CLI will read and apply on startup?
That way somebody can snag a copy of your data and be subject to the same constraints by default.
I think that’s a feature. Not a bug.
I see where you're coming from, but I think it's less the fact that they _can_ use an LLM to do this and more that they can't guarantee anybody else has exercised equal diligence with their code or equal experience with browser engines.
It's not unreasonable to feel conflicted about this, but at the same time, I wonder if they're starting to burn out on code review.
From the flip side, 10 years in, I've been getting really into art.
It's not cheap, but it's easier to do my job with the thought that I have art this week and next week and maybe I'll get to teach it someday too.
It feels healthy to not let your work control your life after retirement. There's so much else out there to do.
guess that's why there aren't many comments here
An engraving pen on glass? Why not get some sheet glass and a stick of color.
Write it directly onto the glass _in glass_
I used to work on bikes professionally, and this was the first place we went for help. Even today, it's one of the clearest resources out there
It isn't entirely that.
Somewhat, sure.
It's also managers who tell you you're being laid off, but good news, not for three months. And, oh, by the way, if you leave early no severance.
And why are you being laid off?
Your duties are being offshored.
_You_ aren't being offshored because they need three people to replace you, but your duties are.
Ostensibly this saves money.
It's named 4.0.0-alpha1.
Just add the 1 and the link works
You tell that to everybody with a glioblastoma.
Go ahead, tell them the aggressive mass in their brain, the thing that shortened whatever potential life expectancy they had to, at best, single digit years, isn’t a guaranteed death sentence.
They’ll be so comforted by the idea that maybe their already shortened life expectancy will be further reduced by a car accident or some idiot with a knife.
Of course they're misleading.
What did the doctor tell us when my mom was diagnosed? Don't do research, do not trust Dr. Google, Dr. Google lies. At best, Dr. Google is behind the times.
The specifics of your case will strongly affect what happens to you.
And even for cancers that are a guaranteed death sentence, survival has increased significantly in recent years.
And go see the demos! Or watch their YouTube channel!
Assuming you aren't looking for an exact millimeter-for-millimeter version of the spiral condenser, I bet you could find someone to make it in the US quite easily.
It's still one of the major glassblowing countries. In fact, if you remember when folks were worried about those two quartz mines in Spruce Pine, NC that are the only place with pure enough quartz for chips? That's also the home of Spruce Pine Batch, one of the big glass suppliers in America.
Ironically with glass itself, it's the ones that take less time that tend to be better.
Especially any borosilicate glass with a hard edge
You might notice that this link isn't from Corning. It's from the Corning Museum of Glass' excellent library
Unfortunately seems to only be the case in aggregate
Narvar's tracking emails are mostly-image
And on the one hand, it's cool as hell to see your email update itself to show tracking progress
On the other hand, just send me a new email. It's fine, I promise.
Regarding your comment about the notion of semantic HTML - I think HTML lacks an easily found ground-up course or series or articles or whatnot about how you get there.
MDN talks about when a specific element is appropriate, but it doesn’t really help you discover those elements that might be relevant.
There’s a lot of politics happening to us in real life right now too
I'll be honest, I think LAX's traffic is better than SFO's.
It feels like there's a lot less spaghetti at LAX, the shortcuts are reasonable, and you don't have separate international and domestic loops.
It's a fascinating edge case, but also feels like a silly choice of company name for this exact reason.
What other systems are going to shut you out for your choice of company name?
we may be better off if tiktok shuts down in the US
finding really good posters that you like is like finding a needle in a haystack
Or maybe, sometimes it's just flat out dull work.
And it has to get done, you're the one with the capacity to do it, and you just have to grit your teeth and do it.
That feels like an entirely separate policy. This one is about making sure small children have care, not whether or not people deserve a minimum guaranteed income
